Palestinian Arab terrorist manipulation of the media will persist as long as people continue to prefer myths rather than facts.
This phenomenon is not new, but it seems that even eight years after a documentary, which officially exposed it was launched, many people have still not even heard of Pallywood.
So what is Pallywood? It is a combination of "Palestinian propaganda" and "Hollywood fantasy." It is an exposure of "media manipulation, distortion and outright fraud by the Palestinians and other Arabs, jihadists and Islamists, assigned to win the public relations war against embattled Israel."
In 2005, Professor Richard Landes of Boston University produced an 18-minute online documentary video called Pallywood. In this documentary, he exposed an entire film industry, in which the stars are Palestinian terrorists and their supporters, the crew is mostly independent video journalists, and the fools are we.
Pallywood presented a "behind the scenes" glance of the carefully staged scenes of Palestinian Arabs allegedly attacked by Israeli forces, which are then presented on the news as "raw footage of the reality in the Gaza conflict."
The phenomenon of Pallywood is widely and carefully planned. News broadcasts are eager to air raw footage of the Israeli – Palestinian conflict, and as a result they are being far too uncritical when examining the authenticity of the footage, and the airing of complete lies that give the audience the narrative the Hamas terrorists want you to see.
Pallywood strikes again: Orchestrated fake crowd scene of 100 Hamas terrorists surrounding released young Israeli women hostages leaving Gaza to fool viewers and the media into believing that thousands of Hamas armed men are still in power.
Such other fabricated news items recently even appeared on a Fox News affiliate inevitably showing sad looking Palestinian Arabs returning to northern Gaza. What was predictably not shown was that Israeli troops had removed them for their own safety as the IDF battled nests of Hamas terrorists hiding in buildings and tunnels. Earlier those same Arab civilians and children had been forced by Hamas to become human shields. But viewers would not know of why the battles were fought, they would see only Arab civilians and damaged buildings courtesy of Pallywood. Please be careful of what you now see and believe.
For many years, video footage and pictures were a symbol of truth and reliability. When someone needed proof of an event's veracity, they simply asked for a video or a photograph for proof. With time, technology developed, Photoshop was invented and the film industry became much more sophisticated or should we say, duplicitous. We, however, remained the same. Still seeking truth in videos and photographs, but subsequently unable to tell the truth from a lie.
With growing difficulty of understanding a tale of good and evil, and with the effort increasingly hard to realize the shades of gray in what we are seeing, we listen to and watch the lies of Pallywood, not even considering the possibility that we are all being fooled.
Hamas propagandists will unleash endless filmed falsehoods, even staging completely different realities with which to feed the audience. Too many journalists, alas, love a biased story and gleefully accept any deceitful false footage of say, a Palestinian child being attacked by an Israeli soldier because a fake story looks much better on film than reality. We watch a close up of a staged crying Arab woman who a year earlier, if truth be told, had joyfully cheered at the sight of young Israeli women being dragged into Gaza as hostages after having been raped continuously by brutish and perverted Hamas men.
The question for Pallywood should be. Why stimulate hate? Is that striving for peace?
Unfortunately, Pallywood will continue filming and good people throughout the world will, alas, continue to believe lies!
