WES VERNON — Victoria Toensing, one of the insightful attorneys on Fox News, cut to the quick the other night when she spoke with her fellow panelists of the odd statement by House Speaker Paul Ryan that there was "no evidence" that then President Obama ordered the FBI to "spy" on the Trump campaign.... ALAN KEYES — "A true democrat, lowercase 'd,' thinks they're no better than anybody else. That's what a Democrat is. And the party regains that when white, black, Hispanic people, everybody, starts to think of themselves as one of them instead of being better than them."... (more)

CNN — Nearly five hours of unprecedented and surreal talks between US President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un culminated on Tuesday with fulsome declarations of a new friendship but just vague pledges of nuclear disarmament. For Trump, that amounted to a triumphant outcome in his extraordinary gamble with the rogue kingdom's despotic leader. But there were scant details on what new commitments had been secured from Kim, even as Trump announced he would end the regular military exercises the US conducts with South Korea.... (more)

WASHINGTON TIMES — First lady Melania Trump is thoughtful, classy, intelligent and kind. And it drives the media nuts. There's nothing -- not one thing -- to legitimately criticize Mrs. Trump about. So they create fake news (aka: lies) in a vain attempt to vilify, discredit or embarrass her.... (more)

WASHINGTON TIMES — Those blaming the deadly Parkland shooting on the National Rifle Association need to take a harder look at the Broward County school superintendent and sheriff, according to NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch. She told the Western Conservative Summit that school authorities "protected" the confessed mass shooter by failing to get tough on him in the name of reducing student arrests prior to the Feb. 14 shooting.... ROBERT KNIGHT — Since November 2016, the deep state and its media allies have spent considerable time and money cultivating animus toward President Trump and the Republican-led Congress among younger voters. Many millennials came unglued in the wake of the election and still are. The left is counting on their turning out to elect progressives in November. Social media bristle with anti-Trump and anti-conservative invectives, and some of it spills over into anti-American rants.... (more)

NEWSMAX — President Donald Trump said Saturday he has "a clear objective" for his upcoming nuclear summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un, though he acknowledged that potential progress "will always be spur of the moment." He described the meeting scheduled for Tuesday in Singapore as a "one-time shot" for Kim, and Trump said he was about to undertake a "mission of peace" as he left the Group of Seven meeting with world leaders in Canada.... WORLDNETDAILY — For George Soros, things started going bad Nov. 8, 2016, and they've continued to deteriorate. It started with Donald Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton and has gone downhill since then, he candidly told the Washington Post from his plush hotel suite by Lake Zurich. "Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong," he said. But, at 87, the hedge-funds multi-billionaire is not giving up on funding his left-wing agenda. "The bigger the danger, the bigger the threat, the more I feel engaged to confront it," Soros said.... (more)

NEWSMAX — Talk show host and comedian Bill Maher said he's "hoping" for the U.S. economy to crash if that's what it takes to "get rid" of President Donald Trump, Mediaite reported. "I feel like the bottom has to fall out at some point. And by the way, I'm hoping for it. Because I think one way you get rid of Trump is a crashing economy. So please, bring on the recession," Maher said Friday during a panel discussion about the economy on his HBO show "Real Time With Bill Maher."... (more)

WES VERNON — In this century, as our nation appears on the verge of a (mostly so far) non-shooting civil war brought about by cultural battles and an attempt to overthrow a sitting president, Americans wonder: How did we get into this mess? It's axiomatic that one of the best ways to find one's way out of a bad predicament is to understand how we got there in the first place. Herewith comes an information-loaded analysis titled Betrayal At Bethesda.... (more)

SIENA HOEFLING — It was a decision that tossed a crumb to religious liberty with one hand, while it took the whole cake away with the other. The "cake-baker case," properly called Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, convinced conservatives they had won a battle in the culture war.... (more)

ANDREW C. MCCARTHY — I must respectfully disagree with the editors regarding the Supreme Court's ruling in Masterpiece Cakeshop. Professor Steve Vladek is right: The decision is "remarkably narrow." One cannot help but be struck by the majority's reticence from the outset: "Whatever the outcome of some future controversy involving facts similar to these, the Commission's actions here violated the Free Exercise Clause." Mind you, this is from the pen of Anthony Kennedy, a judicial supremacist who ordinarily interrupts his liberty bender only to scold the People -- formerly known as the sovereign -- to pipe down and quit grousing once the Robed Nine have spoken....
