Father Fred's homily
An earthshaking and redeeming video
By Joseph Pecar
We've just experienced a "Perfect Weather Storm" — and two days ago I was blessed to view what I think can be called a "Perfect Homily Storm."
"Perfect" in the sense that it not only presents perhaps the most effective, plain-speaking pro-religious-freedom and pro-life arguments ever made. But more than that, the homily forcefully and compellingly explains how remaining silent and taking no action regarding those basic issues — will lead to the loss of the whole gamut of other individual freedoms that have made America the most wealthy and powerful nation in history.
Beyond even that, the homily lays bare how the loss of pro-religious-freedom and pro-life rights will ultimately lead to the eradication of the moral principles which for centuries have formed the moral basis for all of our laws — and our jurisprudence system itself — a system that until now has preserved what our forefathers miraculously fashioned to allow us to live in a historically invincible, great, generous and freedom-loving nation.
But I can not do justice in describing the quality and importance of this homily — often referred to as "Father Fred's Homily" and titled "Don't Vote Like a Pagan." Rather as the waning moments before the 2012 Election pass, please take a few moments, to view Father Fred's homily and judge for yourself whether or not it would be an immense blessing if it could be replicated in every Catholic Church for this Sunday's Mass services.
And then decide whether you can or should take every action you can to forward it to as many priests and lay people as possible.
Pastors especially — please, if you decide this homily could materially increase the Catholic vote in support the Church's religious-freedom and prolife teachings, either assign your priests the obligation to learn and deliver an equivalent homily, or make arrangements to project on a screen the video of Father Fred Parke's own delivery of his sermon (recorded by one of his parishioners with a smartphone). After his sermons, Father Fred was treated to rousing, standing ovations — indicating how effective his homily is in delivering the power of the true Word of the Lord.
As head of the USCCB, if Cardinal Dolan would have made and widely published a similar video, there is little doubt that in this 2012 Election a wide majority of Catholics would cast "pro-life" votes. Recall that in the 2008 election only 43% of the Catholics cast "pro-life" votes.
Please before it is too late, will every recipient of this E-Mail put on their thinking caps and really make a difference in promoting a 2012 Election that is a manifestation of what Christ would do if He lived in this era. The amateur parishioner video can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7TItJ7zJBg . I have also attached a transcript of Father Fred's homily as a PDF file. Because in a few areas Father Fred's extemporaneous comments deviates somewhat from his original transcript, a simultaneous viewing of the video and reading of the transcript is best.
May we all be enlightened to always know and live in accordance with the will of our Holy Father God. And may God bless us all and God bless America.
Note: Father Frederick Parke is Pastor of Assumption Catholic Church located at 2403 Atlantic Blvd; Jacksonville, Florida 32207; (904-398-1963); The parish web site is at
