America's Demonic Cry -- "Let us alone"

Well over 40 years of attending to second coming prophecies and what is generally known as eschatological doctrine has brought many lessons and reactions from the public in general. The most common response garnered over the years has been a tendency to be initially fearful and the most common response voiced by hearers is, that it is a message of – 'gloom and doom.'

The god of this world (Satan) twists all of God's best things because perversion is the basis for his entire kingdom which is after all, based on lies. (Jn 8: 44)

The fact is that even the most cursory examination of what happens on earth after the triumphant return of the Lord Jesus Christ shows us clearly that it is the best time earth will see in its entire history. The gloom and doom is not brought on by the message or the messengers of the second coming and certainly not by the return of the Savior, but rather it is all contained in the last few years before Christ's return and is caused by us. Our Godless pursuits leave the world desolate.

Hyper anti-Christian activities on the rise

Our hot pursuit of all that is prurient and deviant has hundreds of examples to illustrate the point – here are just a few of the latest examples of how far we will go to keep them from being interrupted, or questioned.

In Seattle a preacher is attacked by a homosexual crowd, verbally belittled and then beaten by a man who has been arrested for violence more than a dozen times since 1995. The Christians were carrying signs with the message of repentance which read, 'Repent or else' and 'Jesus saves from sin.' The purely biblical message went beyond merely agitating the gays and produced a violent reaction which is becoming more common in America today than at any other time in our history.

In North Eastern Florida when atheists lost a battle to have the Ten Commandments removed from the Bradford County Courthouse they would not be shunned. Their answer to the perceived insult produced a 1500 pound granite slab to honor their godlessness and place it subjacent to the Ten Commandments. Children with 'Jesus' posters outside the unveiling of the granite stone seemed to say more than all the news people and gawking crowd of curious onlookers.

California's Sonoma State University told student Audrey Jarvis she should remove her cross necklace so she would not offend others. Oddly there has never been a report that anyone was asked to remove a Buddhist symbol, a crescent, a burqa or any other religious symbol on or off campus. Not only is our hypocrisy showing, but the spirit of antichrist is unable to act discreetly anymore. Christianity un-nerves the world for a number of reasons, but at the top of the list is that it says man is sinful and in need of repentance.

From 'Come over and help us' to 'let us alone' – an American transition

The very cradle of the first century church was Greece and the call to help the Grecians came to the Apostle Paul in a vision. Before visiting the city of Philippi, Paul heard a voice in a vision that cried, 'Come over into Macedonia, and help us.' (Acts 16: 9) Obedience to that call brought Paul to the region and the rest is history. The need of the Grecians and the love of God for these ancient people brought a great blessing for many years to come.

In stark contrast is the tortured and completely negative response to the presence of Jesus at the outset of his public ministry by a man possessed with devils. Leaving the Jewish synagogue in Capernaum he was met by a demoniac who suffered under the power of a strong demonic spirit. On approaching the man, the demon cried out, "Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God." (Mk 1: 24)

The cry to 'let us alone' is still associated with demonic activity whether in an individual or a community and yes, even in an entire nation. The theology is simple and is succinctly stated in the following passage.

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved." (Jn 3: 19-20)

Let's be totally clear, even in this day when a panel of experts, which includes a psychiatrist or two, can explain away all of our worst behaviors, we are not speaking of devils and evil spirits in metaphors or simple simile. In the last days, they are real devils working real miracles, real possessions and entire segments of this world's population come directly under their sway. To wit:

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils." (1 Tim 4: 1)

"For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." (Rev 16: 14)

This is not some movie or a good novel – this is the world we live in.

When the call for help comes too late!

In early July of 2013 retired Sheriff's deputy and evangelist Tony Miano was preaching from 1Thessalonians 4: 1-12 and Romans chapter one while visiting London. He was preaching on the biblical teaching of the sinfulness of homosexuality. British police arrested him under a law that had already been overturned, but not before haters approached him and told him to 'f-off.'

The 'let us alone' Mr. Miano experienced in England comes from the same source as the demoniac at Capernaum and today it is sweeping the nation and the world. From Jesus to servants like Tony Miano, the laborers in God's vineyard endure the constant cry to be 'left alone' but this day will soon come to an end.

Jesus tells of a wealthy man who sent out a cry for help from hell itself. Knowing he was a lost cause he impleaded with his acquaintance, Lazarus, to have someone go and tell his brothers about hell so they would not end up there along with him.

The day of faithful Christian witnesses will come to a screeching halt in the very near future and all that will be left is the answer Lazarus gave the rich man, to wit:

"And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead." (Lk 16: 31)
