JERRY NEWCOMBE — During trying times like these, with many storms upon us (literally and figuratively), no book provides greater comfort than the Bible. Yet how many actually read it? Although there are studies noting a drop in Bible-reading among Americans in recent times, nonetheless, 47 million are reported to be “Scripture engaged.” No other book would come close to that kind of readership. As of this writing, the education department of the state of Oklahoma is planning to purchase 55,000 Bibles for the public schools. I’m sure the left is gnashing their teeth over such a plan.... BOB UNRUH — Tim Walz has made a statement that America’s Electoral College “needs to go.” That process, of course, is what the nation’s Founders established to make sure that a handful of major population centers would not, forever, control the results of each election. It allows even low-population states to have an influence on the results, even if those large concentrations of voters in cities and states still have more influence.... (more)

NEW YORK POST — “President Trump must win to preserve the Constitution. He must win to preserve democracy in America,” Musk stressed to the audience. In his brief remarks, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO took shots at President Biden and fellow Democrats while praising Trump, 78, from the same stage where the ex-president took a bullet to the ear when would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire on July 13. “You know, the true test of someone’s character is how they behave under fire. And we had one president who couldn’t climb a flight of stairs and another who was fist pumping after getting shot,” Musk said to raucous applause.... (more)

NEW YORK POST — Billionaire CEO Elon Musk is sending in hundreds of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite systems to areas hit hardest by Hurricane Helene, saving lives as FEMA falters in its own mission. It’s a triumph of modern innovation: The devices connect to low-orbiting satellites, allowing first responders to communicate and providing 30 days of free internet access to residents of storm-ravaged areas who’d otherwise be completely cut off. Of course, as Musk himself pointed out, Starlink likely would’ve already been up and running in some of these areas if the Harris-Biden Federal Communications Commission hadn’t slammed the brakes on a $885 million grant to SpaceX to provide broadband to rural communities back in 2022....
