Bronfman befuddled

Mr. Edgar Bronfman, Former CEO of Seagrams; former President of the World Jewish Congress, wrote an an-open-letter/ I experience deep sadness when I read of Jews betraying Jews, whether they intentionally or unknowingly misinterpret Israel's situation, and then proceed to deceive the uninformed. It is especially egregious when the dishonesty comes from someone who has achieved success and fame, albeit from another source entirely, and fiurther exacerbated when it is hyped by 600 rabbis! I have found not one shred of evidence to substantiate any of his claims.

In fact, we have seen a President who welcomed Israel's Prime Minister through the back door, serving him unkosher food, and who bows low to the ruler of Saudi Arabia, to whom he would never serve pork. We have witnessed Obama's friendship to Islamic despots, his inaction while Iran steadily increases her nuclear capabilities, his deliberate reduction from 5,000 to 1,200 troops to our joint US/Israel exercises — and without America's advanced radar installation in the Negev Desert, more Israelis will die from incoming Iranian missiles — their blood on Obama's hands. Also be reminded that when Obama finally came from the sidelines to speak about the illegal, defiant Mavi Marmora Flotilla, it was to reprimand Israel for not apologizing to Obama's friend Erdogan of Turkey for her defensive actions.

Obama unilaterally wanted to diminish Israel to the treacherous 1949 armistice lines without consulting Netanyahu and without demanding concessions or recognition of Israel's history and legal right to exist. He demanded a ten-month freeze of Jewish settlements, but maintains silence when Palestinians and Bedouins build illegally, and never chastises Abbas for celebrating the martyrs who kill Israelis or for continuing their hate-and-kill education for their children. Neither does he intervene when Jewish students on campus are terrorized and harmed by Muslim students on a BDS (boycott-divestment-sanctions) rampage.

Bronfman also mentioned US financial aid being at its highest level — this seems to be the de rigeuer comment made by the average revisionist. Yes, the US funds given to Israel (but not without a full exchange of services), are supported by Congress, as contracted by President Bush for ten years in 2007. This is a recapitalization plan that includes technological exchanges and manufacturing jobs for Americans, but the US is no longer trustworthy for intelligence because of the massive White House leaks that pose an existential threat to the Jewish State. Further, funds that go to Israel are severely undermined by the larger funds Obama gives to the Palestinians, to Egypt's Brotherhood, to Syria..

That Obama has deepened the relationship between the US and Israel can only be described as a lie, or a pun! The majority of Israelis no longer trust this President, and Israel is far less safe and secure because of his politics, including his removal of Egypt's Mubarak who actually maintained their mutual border and peace agreements and our meddling in the upheaval of the misnamed "Arab spring."

As a sovereign nation, Israel never needed Obama's permission defend herself. Had this President been a trustworthy friend, he would have taken out Iran's nuclear infrastructure long before it got this far and this dangerous. And how dared Bronfman remark about the Durban Review Conference when, in fact, Hillary Clinton established an International Counterterrorist Forum that excluded Israel. When Mr. Obama stands up for Israel, the Jewish State would be safer if he left the room. When he announces, "I have your back," we'd be safer to turn around and see what he's up to next.

If Obama had the attributes that Bronfman ascribed to him, he would long ago have stopped funding the United Nations, would have discontinued the subsidies to these second- and third-generation murdering Arabs (there are no Palestinian people) who are not refugees. He might then have earned the title of Leader of the Free World, rather than becoming a Leader of the Third World.

How can Bronfman continue to credit Obama with saying "Israel cannot be expected to negotiate with Palestinians who do not recognize its right to exist," when in fact that is precisely what Obama has done. He has forced Netanyahu's hand to deal with Abbas, and has not once applied similar pressure to this terrorist in a suit. And, in the pleading words of Elie Wiesel, "Mr. President, how is it that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is still alive?"

Mr. Bronfman's sentences, though well formed, are empty. He has supplied no substantiation and Obama continues his rhetoric and distancing from Israel unimpeded. Bronfman has discredited the Jewish people by assuming they are clueless — not all of us are. We judge a person by his friends and by his enemies. Look around, and see that his friends are American anti-Semites and Islamic despots. His friends are Muslims, Marxists, Socialists, Communists, Anti-Capitalists, such as Louis Farrakhan, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Democratic Socialists of America, Communist Party of the USA, Frank Marshall Davis, Gregory Galluzzo, Saul Alinsky, Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers, Dr. Khalid Mansour, the Black Panthers, George Soros, Valerie Jarrett, Van Jones, Huma Abedin. The Democratic party of the past has long gone up in smoke and President Obama is consistently making changes to and destroying our Constitution — the one for which Bronfman's Russian- and Romanian-Jewish ancestors came to this country.

My one final question is: If Obama is so good for Israel, why were so many Arab-Americans in attendance at the DNC? They were the vocal response that wanted Jerusalem and Israel and God kept off the Democratic platform! There is still time to be educated. A good, quick start would be to see the film, "2016, Obama's America."
