Obama captains a culture of death
By Bob Kemp
When asked by Pastor Rick Warren when he believed a fetus should be extended all the rights and protection of a human being under the laws of our land, Candidate Obama equivocated with, "...that's above my pay grade." Which begs the question; if one is not certain about when life begins, shouldn't one err on the side of caution? Why take the chance on having the blood of innocent life on one's hands if you are not certain about when life begins? It begs another question also. Isn't it the responsibility of every person that professes to be a Christian to have a biblical understanding of God's truths on life and death? Obama has said publically he is a Christian. Is he really? I have my serious doubts.
The Bible is God's holy word to His people. It is the standard by which we determine right from wrong. It is the unshifting plumb line by which our foundation as a nation was laid out and built upon. It is the filter through which all things must pass in order for discerning Christians to determine the value of a thought, word, or action. The Bible is the lens by which we view the world culture that, for now, we live in. It gives instruction on how to love and worship God, avoid those things that displease Him, live our lives, conduct ourselves, treat others, evangelize the gospel of Jesus Christ, and even how we should face death. The Bible is quiet on a great many things, but on those things the Bible is not silent on, we should not be silent. If Mr. Obama were really a Christian, as he claims, then he would understand this, and he would understand that God hates the murder of innocent babies; both those unborn, and those born but left to die in a soiled linen closet because the abortionist botched the abortion.
His support of the Freedom of Choice Act and his voting against the Born Alive Infant Protection Bill betray his beliefs. His nomination of Governor Sebelius to head the U.S Department of Health and Human Services hints at his agenda. Mr. Obama did not christen this culture of death. It set sail long ago, captained by unconscionable people that refuse to recognize the sanctity of human life. Indeed, many of them hold the life of a dog to have more value that a person which is created in God's image (Gen. 1:26-27). This culture of death has left in its bloody wake the mutilated bodies of millions of innocents. Mr. Obama is at the helm now, and his ship of state is set to sail into never before charted waters as he lifts the ban for federal funding of Embryonic Stem Cell Research. He is also rescinding a bill that President Bush signed on January 20, 2009 that protected the rights of healthcare workers from performing or participating in controversial procedures (abortions) that conflict with their personal, moral, and religious beliefs. This act will create a vacuum in the healthcare industry because of the number of people that will leave the healthcare profession if they are not able to exercise their own conscience as to what they can, and cannot do. Catholic hospitals will close as they yield to a higher power, and all this will create another crisis that the Obama Administration will take full advantage of (never let a good crisis go to waste).
There are many scriptures we can turn to in the Bible that clearly speak to not only the sanctity of life, but point to God as being the creator of all human life. God stated, as I mentioned earlier, in Gen. 1:26-27 the Holy Trinity made the first man from the dust of the earth. The Holy Spirit was breathed into Adam, and he became a living being. Later, God made for Adam a help mate suitable for him; Eve. Father Adam and Mother Eve are the only beings in creation, if you notice that God did not simply speak into existence. God actually formed Adam from the dust of the earth, and breathed life into him. He later made Eve from a portion of Adam's body, carefully closing up the incision from where the rib was taken. God took a hands-on approach to making that which was made in His own image, and in doing so, set them apart (making them holy), from the rest of creation. To destroy that which is made in the image of God is a deliberate act of denying the Creator and elevating one's self to god-like status.
In Gen. 4:1b Eve stated that with the help of the LORD she brought forth a man. Eve understood that she could not have conceived a child, nor would he have formed in her womb, nor would he have been "brought forth" in birth without the explicate help and intervention of God. Sure we understand the mechanics of pregnancy in our "enlightened" age. But in doing so, we have lost the spiritual connection with God. Since medical science first understood the exact way in which a woman is made pregnant, there have been those that have fought to remove God from the equation. To them, it is simply a biological act that bows to the laws of nature. I must ask; who wrote the laws of nature?
In Exodus 4 we find the first exchange between God and Moses. God has appeared to Moses for the first time and has given him his marching orders to Egypt. Moses protests for several reasons, one being that he stutters! Look at the amazing response God gives to Moses concerning this in verse 11; "The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD?" When my son was young, he had a stutter, but only when he became nervous or upset. It bothered him a lot, because other kids would sometimes mock him. One day he asked me why he stuttered. I led him to this verse and told him that God had made him like that for a very good reason, and probably a reason we would never understand. I told him that by God's hand he had been created unique and that he should not worry about it. That was the last time we discussed it. It didn't seem to be an issue for him after that. The point is that God told Moses and He tells us that He makes folks. And He gives us all certain traits and characteristics according to His pleasure and how He intends to use us in this life.
The God of the Bible is a God that is very pro-life, but He is also very pro-choice. In Deuteronomy 30:19b-20a, we read, "...Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him." God gives us free will. He wants us to love Him and follow Him because it is what we want to do, not because He has forced us to. So in this sense He is pro-choice, by giving us the free will to make up our own minds. Have you ever tried to make someone love you? God could make us love Him, but that would deny us free will. And our love for Him would not be a true, genuine love. God is also pro-life, because He always chooses life. Death is not a choice, but the consequence of choices we make. In Deuteronomy God clearly states in the prior verses that death and destruction comes from choosing to deny and disobey Him. Death and destruction are the result of worshipping other manmade gods, not the one true God. Abortion is an unholy alter built to the gods of selfishness and greed. God is almost pleading with His people to do what is right, "...so that you and your children may live..." Mr. Obama, God is pleading with you.
Again in Psalm 139:13-14 we are told that God is our Creator, and He fashions us together in our mother's womb. Note in these verses that God is again depicted as being actively involved in the forming of the child. In verse 16 David the Psalmist wrote, "...your eyes saw my unformed body." This speaks specifically to the embryo. God has formed and will form every embryo that will be used for stem cell research, but this is not His intended purpose for these children. Why does He not simply, miraculously stop the killing? Free will in a fallen world. I know that's just too simple isn't it. God's ways are simple; it is man that makes things complicated. If our nation's leaders would simply remember their Creator as we are all commanded to do in Ecclesiastes 12:1, there would not be this holocaust of the unborn damning our country.
God, speaking to Isaiah in the book of Isaiah 44:2, tells the prophet that He made him, forming him in the womb. Backing up to Isaiah 43:7b, God, speaking specifically of the Jews, said, "...whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." God is very specific in what He is saying in these verses; there is no mistaking the meaning of what He is telling us. Through His Spirit, God creates life, sustains life, and at His choosing, takes life. It is His to take, because He is the Creator of life, Him only. God states in Isaiah 43:10b, "Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me."
Jeremiah 1:5 states, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart." Again, we have it stated very plainly in the Bible that God is our Creator. In ways that we cannot fully understand, His Spirit is involved in the forming and development of every child. This is an undeniable truth of the Bible. Those that continue to plead ignorance and deny this truth, passing and supporting laws that run counter to God's will are responsible for the righteous judgment that will come upon America. God is a holy God, and He must judge a nation for its sin, otherwise God would not be holy, just, and righteous. God will accept no reason or excuse from anyone for not defending the most innocent and helpless among us. Those that claim ignorance of the facts will be subject to an especially severe judgment, because His word is clear on the matter. Those that by their vote place people in office to make such laws possible are just as guilty as the lawmakers. Proverbs 24:11-12 says, "Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, "But we knew nothing about this," does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will He not repay each person according to what he has done?"
God knows what each and every man is truly aware of and the motives of his heart behind everything he does. Mr. Obama is without excuse, and has blood on his hands that cannot be washed away any more than Pilate could wash his hands clean of the blood of Jesus. Mr. Obama has chosen to exercise his free will and in doing so has set himself up to be a god, captain of his own ship, master of his own destiny. He has usurped the Authority he is under, claiming ignorance. People may be fooled by his words, but God is not.
Just as John the Baptist spoke out against the immorality of his day, so too shall we. Those of us that do believe in the absolute truths of the Bible will continue to hold to account our nations elected leaders, reminding them that they are not our masters, but our servants; and this only for a short while if they continue in their reprobate and depraved ways. Election time is always near, they should be mindful of this.
Pray for them we will, for we are commanded to. God can change the heart of any man if He so desires. That is the real change we can believe in, and earnestly look for. Unless God sends revival to this land, His righteous judgment will surely fall, and perhaps even now has started. Christian's must pray. We must pray for not only our nation's leaders, but our nation's sins, just as Daniel prayed for the sins of his nation and petitioned God to have mercy on them all while they were in captivity. History records that God does not extend His hand of mercy on a nation until His people pray. If we desire to see revival from the school house to the White House, and rid our nation the stench of death and decay, we must be a proactive people of prayer and remember 2 Chronicles 7:14 in our daily prayers. We must not disengage from the political process, for to do so would dishonor the name of our God whom we bear. Pray as if everything depended on God and work as if everything depended on us.
