ZEITGEIST 2017: The times of great hatred ("perilous" times)

"Above all things I hope the education of the common people will be attended to, convinced that on their good sense we may rely with the most security for the preservation of a due liberty." – Thomas Jefferson

"SOMETHING IS GOING ON," says Mark Belling. That's an understatement. Islamist terrorist mows down bikers and pedestrians. Habitual gambler mows down country music fans. Atheist mows down Baptists (in Texas!). Bomb threat at Phoenix synagogue. Coptic Christian churches burned in Egypt. United Nations sides with terrorists. Shooter mows down Republican softball players. Senator Rand Paul gets five broken ribs while mowing his lawn. Neighbor in big trouble (a federal offense).

What's the commonality here? All were attacked by someone who wasn't a member of the NRA or a fundamentalist Christian believer. What kind of next door neighbor do you prefer? Here's another quotation for you:

"Naphtali is like a deer let loose; he shall pour out brilliant words; Joseph is a branch heavy with fruit, whose limbs run over the wall by a well. The archers have sorely hated him and shot at him. But his bow survived in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob." – Jacob ("Israel," on the future of the 12 tribes of the children of Israel)

This quote perfectly pictures, figuratively and/or literally, what's "going on" right now. America is right on the bubble. Things will probably get worse before they get better, because "You err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God," as Matthew wrote. But our elites don't see any crisis!

"Not unto us, not unto us, but unto Your Name give glory, for why should the heathen say, 'Where is now their God?'" – Israel's king, David the sheep herder

Moses and Joseph tended sheep too, and the shepherd Amos said:

"Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?"

A war of words and a war of bullets. It's getting difficult to tell the real haters without a scorecard because they constantly accuse us of "hatred." It's a paradox. The haters accuse us of "fascism" while practicing the same on campus. And the point of Jacob's prophecy was that the 12 tribes would be separate entities someday, not just one people called "Jews," as is the common perception.

A little boy asked his mother, "Pastor keeps talking about the children of Israel. Didn't the adults do anything?" I forget where I heard that one, but he has a point: Maybe our adults aren't doing enough. They farm out kids to government-run day care and public schools where they never hear a disturbing word from the Bible, nor the encouraging words of hope for the future:

"Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven."

We are almost at the point of no return, unbeknownst to our Best and Brightest. Daniel Webster predicted that if the forces for Good do not prevail, the forces of Evil will get the upper hand. I just heard about the arrest of a "man" who beat up an elderly Wisconsin citizen, and the perp's rap sheet has 29 arrests for burglary. The report didn't say how much time if any he has served in jail. This isn't "tolerance"; this is ANARCHY. Who would you prefer for a next door neighbor, this animal or a "fundy" (as fundamentalist evangelicals are mocked as)? Even New York Times columnist David Brooks admits it:

"Our elites really do stink. He's right. But why? In part they're inbred, and care too much about each other's opinion." – Glenn H. Reynolds (USA TODAY, 11/7/17)

They sorely want to save their planet of the four moons but don't care one whit about saving their own souls. They would rather live to see a democratic socialist state than to see Truth "spring out of the earth." By the way, the headline of another story in that issue said:

"Putin's plans for Russian Revolution centennial: NONE"

Vladimir is no saint, but he saw what atheistic Communism did to the Mother Land, just as Gorbachev did, probably due in both cases to Orthodox believing mothers. Society at least had some stability when – at the very least – the fairer gender held their kids to a higher standard. It's time to "hold the presses" to a higher standard. And our universities too! And don't even get me started on Hollywood, that cesspool!

A newspaper headline recently read, and I paraphrase, "Elites responsible for debacles in Hollywood and at ESPN, etc." Talk about peer pressure! As Billy Sunday would shout today:

"God isn't running a half-way house."

Which brings us to the post-modern churches. Half of them would be astonished to see their professed Lord and Master literally come again a second time, as our forefathers all expected. They would even be shocked to see the Almighty spark a real revival. Talk about "division"! The professed "uniters" are dividing us, and the "dividers" (truth tellers) are accused of, of course, HATRED.

MAY HEAVEN HELP US.

P.S. I'm not "bashing" higher education just because I don't have a degree (big deal). I won two scholarships, but I couldn't stand the liberal professors. Besides, as a country boy I had a lot more fun climbing trees than sitting in a classroom. I may not have as many readers as David Brooks, but I can relate to the sheep herders in the days of old (my father had them). There's a reason they're called "sheep." A flock of sheep is the essence of peer pressure.

Our high school grads are pressured to all go to college, but there are other jobs out there you know. You may not have "credentials" but you can have more than that you know. My words may not be taken seriously – yet – but there can be advantages to anonymity. One can get under the radar. For fourteen years. Telling the Truth. Exceeding expectations.

PPS: Four cheers for the two Texans who chased down the Sutherland Springs killer. Too bad the pastor of the church didn't have a 45. Sometimes it's too late to even dial 911. I lost 8 close friends in a church shooting in 2005. I was on my way there, but turned around and went home because of a car problem. Another miracle! Final word:

"The shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape. A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock shall be heard, for the Lord has spoiled their pasture . . . I the Lord will go return to my place 'til they acknowledge their offenses, and seek my face: In their affliction they will seek me early." - Jeremiah and Hosea (who also said):

"The days of revenge are come; the pundits are fools, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thy sins, and the great hatred."
