What does 'REMAKE' AMERICA mean? (Honey, you shrunk the dollar)

"THIS know also . . perilous times shall come, for men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous . . ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the Truth . . . despisers of those who are good [ETC, ETC]." — Paul

"Blessed are the cracked, for they let in the light." — author unknown

IF YOU STILL DON'T THINK THESE ARE PERILOUS TIMES, did you ever think that a President of the United States would say, "There will be a time for them to make a profit, but now is not the time."

Did you ever think you'd live long enough to see Uncle Sam subsidizing the purchasing of brand-new foreign cars?

Did you ever think we'd have an EPA czar who is more worried about protecting "wildlife" than protecting the American farmer?

Did you ever think we'd have a "safe-school" czar who was inspired by ActUp, the special interest group that invaded St. Patrick's cathedral? While high school girls are gang-raped?

Did you ever think that a 9/12 rally on the Washington Mall would be ignored by the mainstream media on 9/13? ["despisers of those who are good?"]

SUPPOSE, just suppose for a moment, that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had thrown a party on the mall, and no one from the MSM even showed up? That the entertainment media would laugh at the protesters as "slutty flight attendants" or "K-street whores"?

Did you ever think for one moment that the covetous ones would try to exile Rush Limbaugh, even figuratively, to Siberia? That they would have their pals in the UK Labor party ban Michael Savage to an insane asylum, figuratively?

COMING EVENTS CAST LONG SHADOWS, AND UNLESS YOU SPEAK UP "NOW," EVEN MORE PERILOUS TIMES ARE COMING.

Unless you notice what is happening in Venezuela (only one independent radio station remains as of now), and what is happening elsewhere, such as in Honduras, you probably don't recognize what is happening to AMERICA!

Never mind the tea leaves or your horoscope; read the news (preferably on the Information Superhighway, the worldwide web). The only place CNN or the mainstream can take us is down the river!

Did you think you'd ever live long enough to see Uncle Sam trying to threaten private advertisers on a private broadcast network? Keep hitting the snooze button, and one day you'll wake up in the middle of the night to a knock on the door and a strange voice saying, "Open up — ve are vrom the gufferment, and ve are here to help you." It could be a U.N. "peace-keeping mission."

President George W. Bush's "new tone" toward the Liberals worked out well for him, didn't it? If I were you, I wouldn't expect President Obama's "kinder, gentler" foreign policy to work out any better (just ask the Pakistanis, or the people in Iraq). Ask the Israelis.

My column-of-the-week is Paul Greenberg's ["Department of Mideast Static" (the "new" State Department under Ms. Hillary)].

BUT BACK TO THE ECONOMY, STUPID:

As Rush Limbaugh says, the Administration's main "enemy" is the private sector of the U.S. economy. The results of this could be a "man-made disaster" (as the war on Islamic radicals is now called). As I said, President Obama lost 15 percent of his supporters during the third quarter of 2009. Surprahse, surprahse Bubba. This ain't what the "Independents" voted for, is it?

While intellectuals on the right are threatened with economic exile, ala the good 'ol USSR versus Pasternak and Solzhenitzyn, et al, our "Siberian oilfields" go without drilling, and the price of gas gets speculated ever higher. Why do you suppose the auto industry got into trouble while the environmentalists ruined the tourism industry, eh? Not to mention the pay-back favors given to the United Auto Unions? And they're not satisfied; they want to end secret balloting so that unionization can speed up, contrary to all common sense.

WELL, as Ronnie would say, while the first President of the USA ever to be steeped in Marxism (he boasts of hanging out with Marxist professors) tries to intimidate private U.S. citizens, the people of upper New York state are about to take a liberal RINO to the woodshed, figuratively speaking. Go figure, eh?

The liberal U.S. Senator from South Carolina is all aglow with "coalition building." We are not going to become the party of angry white men, he says. Evidently, he has never heard of the Whig party, and how it died. His playing "Let's make a deal" with Senator Kerry on the "climate warming" issue only shows that he is ignorant of the history of the GOP, and what triggered the demise of the old "conservative" Whig party.

To make a long story short, the Whigs — at the very time anti-slavery sentiment was rising outside of Washington DC — made a decision, the decision to support the Compromise of 1850. In essence that compromise refused to draw a line on the spread of slavery to the north and west (which is the only thing that the Lincoln wing of the party was asking). As the Encyclopaedia Britannica (1910) says, that compromise sealed the fate of the party, and 1852 was the last national convention they ever held.

A Republican ran for the White House in 1856, but the Democrats won, leaving them in control of all three branches of government (as the Democrats are now). If history is any indication — and it is — the end of their power could be near, too. Between 1857 and 1860 the tide in the country ran totally against the Democrats, and their ship was abandoned by northern Democrats, by ratty politicians trying to save their hides.

See: www.renewamerica.com/columns/dahlgren/080731 Here's an excerpt from "Cultural avant-garde? There's nothing new under the sun!"

"You wondered whether . . the worst enemies of civilization might not prove to be its petted intellectuals who attack it at its weakest moments — attacked it in the name of reason and in the name of irrationality . . in the name of sex, in the name of perfect and instant freedom." — Saul Bellow, "Mr. Sammler's Planet" [quoted by Charles J. Sykes in "A Nation of Victims; the Decay of the American Character"]

THIS COLUMN WILL PROVIDE GRIST AND CUD MATERIAL NOT FOUND THESE DAYS IN ANY OTHER. President Reagan said, "We are a nation that has a government — not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the Earth . . If we look to the answer as to why for so many years we achieved so much, prospered as no other people on Earth, it was because here in this land we unleashed the energy and individual genius of man to a greater extent than has ever been done before." [end excerpt]

THE FATE OF FREE ENTERPRISE IS THE "SLAVERY" ISSUE OF 2009. Uncle Sam is openly courting the under-class that the Democrats expanded, if not created, at the expense of our wealth-generating private companies. The attack on insurance companies is just one example.

An OpEd by Dr. Marc Siegel in the USA TODAY (Sept. 14, 09) said:

"It might be good politics to vilify the insurance industry, or drug-makers or even doctors. But my-way-or-the-highway didn't work so well for the last president. And based on reaction across America today, it isn't working in this health care debate either."

The strategy of making a strawdog out of "profits" is as old as the hills. "Workers of the world" may unite, but scapegoating never fed a hungry child, or gave you a job when you could really, really use one. The insurance companies last year had a 2% profit margin. That's a lot less than Starbucks made (in their better years). Another example:

Between 1995 and 2007, General Motors earned a profit of $13.5 billion. Lotsamoney, eh? Nay! That was just three-tenths of one percent of its $4 trillion total revenue (not even adjusted for inflation). Source: "How Detroit's Automakers Went from Kings of the Road to Roadkill," by Joseph B. White, a speech adapted by Imprimis, February 2009. And during those years, the UAW never relented on demands for more wages, more perks, more pensions, etc.

"Honey, you shrunk the cars, too."

Now that the goverment has GM by the gonads, it will be forced to make smaller and smaller cars — whether the public wants them or not. As Rush says, where is Ralph ("Unsafe at any speed) Nader when we need him? We don't have "hope and change" in government today; we have government by FIAT.

While we talk of nation-building abroad (and new and fairer constitutions around the world), we aren't even using ours anymore! Where are all the class action lawsuits against the appointment of government 'CZARS' who don't even have to testify before Congress? It is only a matter of time before the American people will hunger and thirst for their former "representative Republic," but will it be too late?

The President says that there are no Death Panels in the HELLthcare proposals. Well, there were no abortions in the U.S. Constitution either, but a few Justices found abortion in the Constitution — by reading between the lines. We can now protect snail darters and minnows, but not a baby whose legs, arms, and torso is out of the womb.

"From womb to the tomb" government protection has gone the way of the buggy whip. All it would take is five Supreme Court Justices to give future White Houses the authority to appoint an "end-of-life-Czar." And even he/she wouldn't be making the life-and-death decisions. Those would simply be made by Big Brother's super-computer, wired to "cut costs" and provide us even more "fairness" and "empathy" and "fiscally conservative" FedMed Care, morality and ethics be damned, Veterans Administration "death counseling" on steroids (some of the first victims of Hitler's "mercy killings" were World War I vets who had lost limbs fighting for the Kaiser).

I admit that I'm "rambling" today, unless you want to call it "multi-tasking." I don't know how to cut this short and sweet with a hopeful conclusion, except to say "Have a nice day and/or rest of your life."

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF IT. RESOLVE TO DO SOMETHING TO JUSTIFY ANOTHER DAY'S WORTH OF FREEDOM. CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS OR WRITE A LETTER TO FRIENDLY LOCAL ["mainstream"] MEDIA.

P.S. If you wait to do so until your right to your own private thoughts has gone the way of the buggy whip, it will be too late.

PPS:
Just a reminder: the debate on HELLth care may be a useless smokescreen to camophlage an even bigger issue — the U.N. "treaty" on so-called climate change that the Obama-Clinton Administration seems eager to sign. As history goes, 2009 may turn out to be like living in the eye of a political hurricane. And if Uncle Sam gets suckered into signing that global warming scam, the results could be nothing if not cold-blooded.
