PILLorying the truth

The line between the truth and lies has become obscured in recent years – obscured to the point where sometimes people don't even want to know the truth because that means they may have to face uncomfortable realities that may not suit their lifestyle choices. Such is the case with artificial contraception.

Notorious Communist leader Vladimir Lenin once said, "A lie told often enough becomes the truth."

This certainly applies to the manner in which the birth control pill has been marketed from its earliest days until this very moment. And now it would seem that this once prescription-only drug could make a giant leap to the status of over-the-counter medicine. A group of United States Senate Democrats, led by Washington's Patty Murray, unveiled a bill last week "that would allow birth control pills approved by the Food and Drug Administration to be sold without a prescription." The argument in favor of this arrangement is, according to Murray, that "women should be able to get the comprehensive health care they need when they need it."

But wait! While there is a debate in Congress on this topic as it relates to cost questions, what they really should address are the major health issues surrounding the ingestion of this drug:
  1. The disastrous side effects of the pill

  2. The clinical actions of the pill, including the possibility that a preborn baby will be killed by the pill

  3. The troubling question of these chemicals being gender-bending, rendering preborn human embryos androgynous (having characteristics of both male and female)
Enter gutless Republican Senators, one of whom has introduced his own over-the-counter birth control bill with one distinct difference. No, it's not that Republications intend to tell the truth and protect women from the chemical war being waged in their wombs. The difference is nothing bold or heroic; it is merely that their bill "would encourage drug companies to sell 'routine-use contraceptives' over the counter by giving them incentives such as waiving their fees for their applications to the Food and Drug Administration, which must approve over-the-counter birth control."

The real difference is about money and who pays for the pills at the counter. Period!

The competing proposals have gained attention because groups like Planned Parenthood and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology are interested in seeing to it that the maximum number of women possible have access to the dangerous chemicals.

For this reason these culture of death experts support the Democrat version rather than the Republican proposal. For them the question is not the protection of women's health or that of their preborn babies, it is about who should pay!

By entering the fracas for the wrong reasons, these politicians and their ideologue partners have proven that it is they who wage a war on women – a war that will maim, kill, and debilitate mothers and their preborn children.

If we consider the fact that in 1973, Malcolm Potts, MD, the first medical director of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, stated outright: "As people turn to contraception, there will be a rise, not a fall, in the abortion rate," we can see that what has come to pass in our nation is not at all surprising. Potts never explained how the pill works to kill babies, and even in 1973 the modes of action of these pills were well known to physicians and scientists.

From the very beginning, Planned Parenthood, ACOG, and the rest intended to obfuscate, repeating over and over again that the pill would solve the problems women confront when it comes to pregnancy. They never intended to tell the truth about the horrors of the pill, and today they really do believe that what they say is true.

Lenin would be proud of the success of those PILLorying the truth.
