Van Jones debacle highlights "mainstream media" irrelevancy

It is hard to grasp the extent of the boondoggle that was and is the Van Jones episode, with its mix of nutty comedy and sinister, anti-Americanism. The former so-called "Green Czar" carried an enormous load of baggage that should long ago have relegated him to the fringes of radicalism and precluded any serious consideration of him within official circles.

Yet despite his outlandish beliefs, the most telling aspect of the Jones saga has been the near total blackout by the "mainstream media" (read: Obama propagandists). As the extremism of a key Obama Administration player was systematically discovered and brought to the attention of the American people, and as their outrage over his unfitness for office reached a crescendo, the network anchors and major press outlets dutifully found nothing newsworthy to report.

Nevertheless, a relentless spotlight of truth, advanced almost exclusively among the alternative media, finally made Jones too much of a liability to the Obama White House, at which point he was dispatched under the guise of a "voluntary" resignation. So now, those major media outlets that thoroughly discredited themselves by remaining silent on the entire story are in damage control mode. Somehow, they have to present a "perspective" on the Jones situation that will redeem their image in the eyes of the American people. Thus far, their efforts are pathetic, but entirely predictable.

The real story is that Barack Obama, spiritual understudy of the America-hating "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright, personal friend of unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, financial accessory to Chicago racketeer Tony Rezko, and general sympathizer and apologist to every tinhorn despot with a beef against this nation, has unequivocally shown his intention to incorporate such poisoned thinking into White House policy. Jones merely represents another bit of evidence proving that Obama is emotionally and philosophically joined at the hip with such people. They are indeed the ones he has been waiting for.

Yet the contrived analysis offered by the liberal media differs drastically from reality and, rather than recognizing or conceding any error on the part of Obama for cavorting with people such as Jones, once again seeks instead to find fault with mainstream America. A blatantly opinionated piece in the Los Angeles Times from September 7, fraudulently offered under the guise of a news story, undeniably makes this case.

From the first few words of its title "Obama is fast losing white voters' support," the spin is obvious. Opposition to the Obama agenda is proof of racial bigotry. Somehow, neither the times nor any of the other liberal "news" outlets and their punditry can explain how this "bigotry" is only now beginning to manifest itself among a nation who gave Obama the majority vote only last November. Do liberals really think the American people are only now gaining any awareness of Obama's ethnicity? Or is it more likely that the leftist reality of the man behind the facade (whatever its racial makeup) is now becoming unavoidably evident to a nation that wants nothing of the kind from its national government? Not according to the Los Angeles Times.

After conceding that Obama's popularity has dropped like a rock in the wake of his massive pork-barrel "stimulus" bill, and his relentless efforts to implement socialized "healthcare," the Times went on to quote Representative Charles Rangel (D.-NY) who characterized opposition to the effort as "a bias, a prejudice, an emotional feeling." Rangel expounded on the assertion by adding, "Some Americans have not gotten over the fact that Obama is president of the United States. They go to sleep wondering, 'How did this happen?'"

Without directly stating (at least on this occasion) Rangel obviously incorporated the word "prejudice" and the suggestion of shock on the part of the American people as references to Obama's ethnic background. And this, according to the times, is a newsworthy component to their story.

Elsewhere, the pattern is the same. ABC News, in its report on the "sudden resignation" of Jones, began with the words "First he insulted the Republicans." From the ABC perspective, Jones was the victim of a right wing "smear campaign." Somehow, the venom and racially divisive fanaticism of Jones was of no consequence. It was those nasty conservatives who had the audacity to call him to account, that are to blame.

In any case, and despite flailing media attempts to recast the events, the net result is that Jones is gone. Real Americans, operating as the ultimate "check and balance" to a clearly out-of-control government and a hopelessly compromised press, have demanded and in this case achieved accountability at its highest levels. Admittedly, this episode is only the beginning of a protracted battle to reclaim the nation from those sinister left-wing forces that seek to fundamentally alter it.

But the grassroots, which still maintains its mores and its patriotism in the traditional sense, can take heart. A critical first step has been taken, in total defiance of the liberal Democrat/mainstream media axis, and an emblematic victory has been achieved. Much more work needs to be done, but now the people of the heartland know they have the tools necessary to ensure that, regardless of the agenda of government leftists and the spin from the old media, in due time their efforts to restore this once-great nation will pay off.
