Obama's incurable nausea

In the panoply of human ailments, few compare to chronic nausea, the overwhelmingly sickening feeling that you're going to throw up at any minute. So revolting is this gagging-in-the-throat feeling that anything associated with it — a hamburger, a chicken dish, or even yogurt that made you sick — is enough for anyone to forswear this-or-that food forever. Memories of the hot sweats, the bile in the esophagus, the retching into the toilet, and then the clean-up are etched into one's consciousness forever. Added to the horror is the impossibility of staving off the inevitable outcome. Deep breaths, a cold washcloth on the forehead, even anti-nausea medication don't help. There is something bad going on inside — something toxic — and it's got to come out...it's got to be thrown up.

For the past several decades, it is clear that the Left has suffered from this malady — this chronic unrelenting nausea — that seems only to be relieved by their periodic explosions of verbal vomit.

What is making them so sick? What exactly can't they stomach? In a word, America!

Who can forget the noxious regurgitation leveled at our country and our last president — during a time of war and on foreign soil — by former presidents Jimmy (Mr. Misery Index) Carter and Bill Clinton, or Sen. Dick Durbin's vile comparison of the guards at Gitmo to "Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others..."?

But these pale in comparison to President Obama's groveling apologies and egregious insults to America on his recent trip abroad, starting with his telling a French audience: "In America, there is a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world...there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive."

Why do Leftists behave like this? Why do they condemn and insult and apologize for our great nation to foreigners who have always envied and resented us?

Because they hate us too! These are the ingrates who don't deserve the privilege of having been being born in America — and I wish they hadn't been! What I wish is that they'd been born in Communist Russia or Cuba, in Socialist Venezuela or Europe, or in Jihad-Central Saudi Arabia or Syria, where they'd have fit right in to the totalitarian regimes they unfailingly glamorize.

But the unlucky citizens of our country are stuck with this bash-America crowd and with their jihad against our exquisite Constitution, our envy-of-the world free-market capitalist system, our bountiful generosity, and the foundation of morality and lawfulness — based on Judeo-Christian ethics — that has guided our nation for over 230 years.

Calling Obama's apologia "unforgiveable," the publisher of www.conservativetruth.org Tom Barrett notes: "It seems that Obama has devised a strategy to deal with those who continually criticize the United States. He's doing it for them...he's the same anti-American internationalist that he's always been. He was just doing what came naturally. It was frankly embarrassing. He even made liberals like Clinton and Carter look like patriots. Obama has always admired everything European, and he praised his fawning audiences lavishly. But when he deigned to mention the country he supposedly represents, it was to criticize her or apologize for her."

Or as Don Surber writes: "What the devil was he talking about?

  • Is he ashamed at our arrogance in 1917 to side with France and Great Britain in World War I?

  • Is he ashamed at our arrogance in supplying the war materiel needed to save France again in World War II?

  • Is he ashamed at our arrogance in winning back the entire European continent one square inch at a time beginning at Normandy?

  • Is he ashamed at our arrogance in flying, ceaselessly, supplies to Berlin when the Soviets cut off the roads in 1948?

  • Is he ashamed at our arrogance in sparing South Korea from being run over by the Chinese in 1950?

  • Is he ashamed at our arrogance in defending Europe from the Soviet threat, sheltering vanquished Germany from our ally in World War II?

"The only thing that President Obama should be ashamed of," Surber continues, "is President Franklin Roosevelt's refusal in May 1939 to extend political asylum to the Jewish refugees aboard the transatlantic ocean liner St. Louis. This administration should not apologize for the strength shown by previous presidents. They shouldered their responsibilities and maintained the capacity to save hundreds of millions of people. It remains to be seen whether the Obama administration can do as well."

As Obama was lavishing praise on the Europeans and betraying his startling ignorance of American history, best-selling author and radio-host Mark Levin was reminding his listeners that Europe has indeed led the world — in Colonialism, Imperialism, Communism, Fascism and Nazism — movements that were all born in Europe and metastasized from there like the cancers they are.

Columnist Charles Krauthammer also reminds the president that, "Europe has been sucking on America's teat for 60 years — parasitically. In order to attain the adoration of the crowds [Obama] denigrated his country in a way that I think is disgraceful."

And writer Raymond S. Kraft weighs in with the kind of nettling facts that make Leftists like Obama so incurably nauseated: "In little more than two centuries, despite its faults, America has offered more freedom, more opportunity, and more prosperity to more people than any other nation in history. And America has spent more of its money and blood to liberate other peoples from tyranny and totalitarianism than all other nations in history combined."

SMILES OF RELIEF

Why did President Obama smile his way through Europe? That's what people do after their nausea has abated, after they've finally thrown up. Think about it, in just eight short days, Obama:

  • Declined President Sarkozy's invitation to visit the cemetery in Normandy to honor the fallen American heroes who liberated Europe His flimsy excuse: it might offend the Germans! But that didn't stop him from accepting an invitation to visit a mosque in Istanbul. No nausea here, as he threw up on America.

  • Told the G20 members he favored Turkey becoming a member of the European Union. No nausea here as he threw up on the "West's" years-long resistance to this idea.

  • Began the turnover of U.S. sovereignty in which all U.S. regulatory bodies and companies will be placed under international regulation, which, as writer Sher Zieve has documented, "will of course override the US Constitution." No nausea here as the vomiting on America continued.

  • Announced the reduction in U.S. nuclear weaponry so that, as Zieve says, "the U.S. is no longer a threat to anyone — let alone terrorists. Never before...has a leader announced — in no uncertain terms — that it is his plan and duty to dismantle and destroy the country he represents." Definitely no nausea here as his purging brought more and more relief.

  • Bowed deeply to Saudi Arabian King Abdullah, alluded to his Muslim ties, and said that America had been "shaped" by Islam. No nausea here as he showed unseemly — and unprecedented — obeisance to a foreign power and threw up on America's Judeo-Christian heritage, which he trumped by telling an audience in Turkey that America is not a Christian nation. As one blogger said: Submission Accomplished!

"Unless he considers himself an Indonesian," writes scholar Robert Spencer, "Obama's statement was extraordinarily strange." Spencer enumerates the multiple ways in which Islam has not "shaped" America:

  • No Muslims along Paul Revere's ride.

  • No Muslims standing next to Patrick Henry when he proclaimed, "Give me liberty or give me death"?

  • No Muslims among the framers or signers of the Declaration of Independence.

  • No Muslims among those who drafted the Constitution [and ] enumerated the Bill of Rights.

  • No Muslims played a role in the great struggle over slavery that defined so much of our contemporary understandings of the nature of this republic and of the rights of the individual within it.

  • No Muslims shaped the way the U.S. responded to the titanic challenges of the two World Wars, the Great Depression, or the Cold War.

  • No Muslims of the Islamic faith — which institutionalizes discrimination against non-Muslims — who shaped the civil rights movement in the U.S.

"So in what way has the Islamic faith shaped Obama's country?" Spencer asks. "The most significant event connected to the Islamic faith that has shaped the character of the U.S. was the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001...Of course, it is certain that Obama had none of that in mind. But what could he possibly have had in mind? His statement was either careless or ignorant, or both — not qualities we need in a Commander-in-Chief even in the best of times."

Writer Diana West goes further.

King Abdullah, after all, is the head of a state that is the very caricature of modern-day evil, a Sharia dictatorship that fosters religious repression, de facto slavery, subjugation of women, and, not least, the international export of jihad and Sharia through "charities," mosques, madrassas, textbooks, university endowments, Sharia finance and, of course, terrorists, some 15 of whom attacked the United States in 2001.

Just last month, Abdullah elevated the delusionally hard-line interior minister Prince Nayef, who long promoted the crackpot theory that Saudis were not involved in 9/11 (it was the Jews, he said), to a direct line of succession to the Saudi throne. Abdullah himself has donated at least $1.35 million to Saudi telethons that raised $174 million for the families of Palestinian suicide bombers from Hamas and the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. In 2007, Abdullah explicitly denounced the U.S. presence in Iraq as "illegitimate," thus encouraging attacks on Americans in Iraq, where, not incidentally, Saudis are thought to have carried out more suicide bombings than any other nationality.

That's just for starters. In other words, this is not a personage an American president can ever, ever show deference to without besmirching the memories and lives of the American dead and maimed.

And, as James Lewis asks in The American Thinker, "What kind of man has such an obsessive need to put down his own country?"

A PANTYWAIST APPEASING PRESIDENT

While the president, Krauthammer says, was "bearing a basketful of mea culpas" and "indicting his own people for arrogance, for dismissiveness and derisiveness, for genocide, for torture, for Hiroshima, for Guantanamo and for insufficient respect for the Muslim world, what did he get for this obsessive denigration of his own country?

  • He wanted more NATO combat troops in Afghanistan...he was rudely rebuffed.

  • He wanted more stimulus spending from Europe...he got nothing.

  • From Russia, he got no help on Iran.

  • From China, he got the blocking of any action on North Korea."

He also wanted European countries to take the Gitmo terrorists off his hands, but Austria said no thanks and France said they'd take only one!

And just as North Korea was launching its missile, the president told an audience in Prague that he wanted a nuclear-weapons-free world. "Now is the time for a strong international response," he exhorted them, which he also didn't get, as the feckless and ineffectual do-nothings at the United Nations did nothing — "no sanctions. No resolution. Not even a statement," Krauthammer reports.

"It is passing strange," Krauthammer says, "for a world leader to celebrate his own country's decline."

UK writer and broadcaster Gerald Warner is not so polite. Calling Obama a President Pantywaist — the new surrender monkey on the block, Warner says the president's foreign adventure was "the most successful foreign policy tour since Napoleon's retreat from Moscow. You name it, he blew it."

Commenting on Kim Il Jong's missile launch, Warner says that "President Pantywaist is hopping mad and he has a strategy to cut Kim down to size: he is going to slice $1.4 billion off America's missile defense program, presumably on the calculation that Kim would feel it unsporting to hit a sitting duck, so that will spoil his fun. Watch out, France and Co, there is a new surrender monkey on the block and, over the next four years, he will spectacularly sell out the interests of the West with every kind of liberal-delusionist initiative on nuclear disarmament and sitting down to negotiate with any power freak who wants to buy time to get a good ICBM fix on San Francisco, or wherever."

Weakening our national defense, of course, is among President Obama's chief goals. As writer Caroline Glick has noted, "somewhere between apologizing for American history — both distant and recent; genuflecting before the unelected, bigoted king of Saudi Arabia; announcing that he will slash the US's nuclear arsenal, scrap much of America's missile defense programs and emasculate the US Navy; leaving Japan to face North Korea and China alone; telling the Czechs, Poles and their fellow former Soviet colonies, 'Don't worry, be happy,' as he leaves them to Moscow's tender mercies; humiliating Iraq's leaders while kowtowing to Iran; preparing for an open confrontation with Israel; and thanking Islam for its great contribution to American history, President Obama made clear to the world's aggressors that America will not be confronting them for the foreseeable future... none of them has any reason to fear Washington."

But, Glick adds that after Obama's European trip, "America's most stable allies worldwide began a desperate search for a reset button that would cause the administration to take back its abandonment of America's role as the protector of the free world" — including Japan, India, Iraq, Europe, Czechoslovakia, the Ukranian governments, and of course Israel.

"America's betrayal of its democratic allies," Glick says, "makes each of them more vulnerable to aggression at the hands of their enemies — enemies the Obama administration is now actively attempting to appease." But Glick didn't include our important ally Canada, which has also criticized American foreign policy, but whose citizens are now gravely concerned about America's defensive umbrella under which they've lived in security since the end of World War II.

THE SMILING AND EVEN CACKLING CONTINUE

Relieved temporarily from his chronic condition — nausea brought on by antipathy to America — President Obama returned to the U.S. to face yet another of the irritating "distractions" that threaten to sidetrack his single-minded pursuit of destroying our country. Last Wednesday, a small band of Somali Muslim terrorists attacked an American cargo ship, the Maersk Alabama, for the purpose of kidnapping its sailors and extorting millions of dollars for their return. The ship's heroic captain, Richard Phillips, offered himself as hostage and the ship, filled with humanitarian aid, was able to proceed on its way to Kenya.

Captain Phillips was whisked into a small covered boat that ran out of fuel, leaving it to float aimlessly in the Indian Ocean. He dove overboard trying to escape, but was recaptured by the terrorists and to this moment we don't know if he's had a glass of water or is being starved or will live to see his family or serve his country again.

The crew of the Maersk Alabama had taken hostage one of the terrorists and agreed to exchange him for Captain Phillips. The Americans met the bargain but the terrorists reneged. At the time, an American warship, the USS Bainbridge, was close by, and was then joined by three more U.S. warships and six U.S. naval vessels.

At the same time, African Muslim terrorists took three Frenchmen hostage. In short order, the French fought back fiercely and rescued them.

Dan Friedman, a frequent commentator on the political scene, said: "when the French show you up, you've sunk very low. When you're outsmarted and outmaneuvered by a band of illiterate savages, you've neared rock bottom. When four kids with rotting teeth who've never seen a flush toilet can stop you in your tracks, you're foundering. When your sophisticated Navy and your will to use it is defeated by your own Commander-in-Chief's naiveté and cringing self-doubt, your country is up a creek without a paddle."

In perfect keeping with President Obama's abject pandering to the Muslim world and his by-now-proven "style" of appeasement and capitulation (read North Korea, Iran and Captain Phillips), what have we heard from him?

On day one of the crisis: "We're talking about housing, guys," he shot back at a journalist who dared question him about the Somali terrorist attack and Captain Phillips' plight.

On day two: Silence.

On day three: Deafening silence.

On day four: Thundering silence.

Responding quickly to their new ally in the White House, Somali Muslim terrorists promptly hijacked an American-owned, 16-crew-member tugboat in the Gulf of Aden. President Obama's response: "Absent."

As editor Charlotte Baker says; "In less than 90 days, President Obama has pushed America back to the malaise of the Carter days — hostages and all."

James Lewis writes that, "Jimmy and Zbig (Brezenski) have been trying to explain their disastrous ignorance ever since and because they are mentally stuck in appeasement they have infected the Obamanites with the same bacilli. If Obama fails to take action, watch for Russia to make a move on the Ukraine. China will get more aggressive toward Taiwan. Iran will openly throw sandals at Obama effigies, and the rest of the world will realize — uh oh, no more cop on the international beat. North Korea will launch another missile over Japan...another satellite launch will somehow go astray, heading toward Hawaii...welcome to the age of American weakness."

No problem, our president seems to be saying. Just as he chortled his way through an interview with "60 Minutes'" Steve Kroft about our devolving economic situation — prompting the horrified reporter to ask, "Are your punch drunk?" — his mood remains good. So good that during this horrific siege — while the life of Captain Richard Phillips hangs in the balance — he decided to fly a St. Louis chef 860 miles to whip up some gourmet pizza in the White House. And his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, apparently thought Captain Phillips's imperiled life and the entire hostage scene was hysterically funny, as she weirdly cackled her way through a press conference about it.

Easy to explain. As long as America is in trouble, Obama and his America-loathing co-conspirators are free of their incurable nausea. That intractable condition will only be cured when America is completely and utterly destroyed.
