Happy Easter 2010

As we celebrate Easter 2010, does anyone ever stop to wonder why the combined forces of secular atheism, socialism and Islam roar and screech in their assault against Christianity? If you are a Christian conservative, you'll be thinking at this point, "It's because the risen Christ brought us the message of Salvation and our nation is still nominally Christian. Our freedoms are individual based and God given with therefore unalienable rights."

If you're a liberal/socialist, you'll be sneering, "Easter? That's just a pagan holiday commandeered by Rome! Look at the goddess Çostre's symbols of rabbits and eggs! Hey! Who ate the ears off my chocolate bunny?"

If you're an atheist, you're grumbling about there, "...being no God, hence no meaning to Jesus — if he ever existed in the first place — and why the heck isn't this a four day weekend like Winter Festival?"

If you're a Muslim, well, you're smirking along the lines of, "I can't wait for Mohammed's slave, Isa, to come back and destroy the Christians!"

In the spirit of religious diversity, I suppose it's expected of me to go on to the other great religions and what their followers think of Easter but time, space and their lack of tyrannical political drive precludes me from saying anything other than while they think their religions are the true ones, everybody eats marshmallow peeps this time of year so why not have some fun?

While the Christian conservative has it right about Easter, he is missing and/or forgetting a key element of why the atheists and socialists and Muslims hate Jesus and His Message. Inherent within the teachings of Christ are two great themes: 1) You are free to have a direct, one-to-one relationship with God so therefore you do not need ritualistic, third party folderol to get between you and Him and 2) The men, who govern other men, are to be Christ-like good shepherds and Fishers of Men, who are true servants of the public for the good of men's physical and spiritual wellbeing, hence the title Public Servant.

Yes, that's right: Public SERVANT and not over-privileged Looters-in-chief or fat, boggle-eyed Caliphate imam princelings living a life of debauched decadence. We are constantly admonished by the established Church and State to be "meek and humble like sheep" but it's the wolves, who have taken command of their respective flocks now. While they demand obedience, fast segueing into obeisance from us, they have no intention of honoring their position by keeping our welfare uppermost in their thoughts and deeds.

What is worse is that instead of the beloved sheep of a Good Shepherd's flock, these modern day religious and secular closet dictators view us as mere cattle. They only think of us as sheep when it comes time to be shorn. That's why you get people like the Obamas, Pelosis, Kennedys, Clintons and Reids of this world espousing spreading everyone's else's wealth around but theirs through grotesque and ever-increasing taxation demands. It's why you get government agencies and unconstitutional laws demanding , and now forcing, you to buy crippling policies and inferior goods, services and medicines in order to keep money flowing to big corporations. It's why you have to constantly toe the line from grade school through college in order to emerge over-debted, underemployed and underpaid as you compete with Third World workers through globalization.

And heaven help you if you so much as make a murmur of dissent or get past a certain age. Suddenly you find yourself thrown from what little safety you think you have in the communitarian, wolf-guarded flock to the real wolves of hunger, poverty and despair. Toss in the fear-driven social disapproval for your hard lot and it's enough to make even the staunchest believer in individual rights cynical about the future.

Just remember the next time you hear about the lavish, Washington DC lifestyles of those who secretly think they are our betters that the difference between a pirate and a privateer is a government mandate. It's why you get to eat budget-friendly ramen noodles three times a week while they have access to the finest wines and liquors, the choicest foods, and best living arrangements. It's why you have no privacy left; even down to being exposed naked to the world through airport x-rays while they conveniently fly unimpeded on taxpayer-funded military and private jets. It's why you had better fork over every penny you have left to the IRS while they blithely "forget" to pay their taxes.

And if you have enough energy left over to wonder about what is going on with the debasing of organized religion, then those, who are enjoying the secular benefits of cushy positions can use the threat of hell fire and damnation over your heads if you don't follow their ritualistic rules from fasting, tithing and attendance right down to unquestioning obedience in blowing yourselves up in order to further "religious" goals of physical and political world dominance.

So what is a good Christian to do especially when Christ admonished us to render unto Caesar? First off, realize what is legitimately Caesar's! Caesar, i.e. the State, does have claims and what the State is allowed to do is enumerated in our Constitution. Get politically active and let what we still laughingly refer to as our "representatives" know that they better start actually representing us or they will be voted out in the next election cycle. Then watch the ballot box like hawks to ensure fraudulent votes do not make for stolen elections. We keep hearing that we, "...get the government we deserve..." but stolen elections mean we are governed by frauds, and who deserves that?

Secondly, put your energy into spirituality and not religiosity! Your faith belongs in Christ and not fallible priests, ministers and definitely not hate-mongering preachers of any denomination! The Catholic Church claims that the Pope is infallible but he is only infallible when he speaks ex cathedra on matters of faith and a pope has not done that since 1950 when Pope Pius XII proclaimed on the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into heaven.

Thirdly, when Christ admonished us to "...turn the other cheek..." He did not mean that we are to become punching bags. Inherent within Christianity is the warrior spirit of the laity called to ensuring goodness prevails over evil through faith and good works. This notion found its highest earthly fruition through chivalry whereby men of arms vowed to use their physical strength and social standing for the good of all. They led by example and their high standards of conduct influenced those below them to emulate their actions.

And now I have brought you full circle back to the notion of the Good Shepard and Fishers of Men. It falls on each and every one of us, who call ourselves Christian, to resist tyranny whether it comes from politics and/or religion because a triumphant Christ calls all of us to service. The beasts in control of our flocks know this and nothing frightens them more than rogue sheep. That's ultimately why they are so intent on destroying Christianity. Remember this as you celebrate Easter this year and every Easter thereafter!
