Don’t Trust the Polls—Make Your Poll Count

To vote or not to vote. That is the question. Are you serious? Can any conscientious Christians sit this one out? But apparently, there are some who may just do that, for whatever reason.

The only poll that counts is the vote that you cast.

Are we seeing the left’s attempt to suppress the conservative vote? It’s all over. Why bother anymore?

An article by M.D. Kittle in the Federalist.com caught my eye: “‘Absolute scumbags.’ That’s how Democrat strategist and former Kamala Harris adviser Mike Nellis described Wedgewood Polling, another faux ‘election survey company’ confessing that it made up numbers. Why? Wedgewood claims their bogus polls — rolled out in two widely watched Democratic Party primaries — were just an ‘experimental project.’” [emphasis added]

Just an “experiment”? But some people may have decided to sit this one out because of same.

Meanwhile, even if the polls favoring abortion and the transgender agenda and open border type policies were correct, it would still behoove the Bible-based Christian to vote and to vote their Biblical values. To not be fooled by those who claim to also believe in the Bible and yet take positions in opposition to the plain teaching of Scripture. Such as U.S. senatorial candidate for Texas, James Talarico, whose radical views I have commented on elsewhere.

Rev. Franklin Graham warns that Christians should not sit out the midterms 2026: "The choice is yours, but look prayerfully at what both parties stand for."

The late Dr. D. James Kennedy once declared that it’s a sin not to vote. His proof-text was from the passage in the Gospel, where Jesus said that we should render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s (Mark 12:17).

Historically, Christians in America applied their faith to virtually every sphere of life, including their politics. While the founding fathers were not all Christians, the vast majority of them were, and more importantly they had a biblical worldview.

Samuel Adams, the spark plug of the whole push for American independence (without whom there likely not have been America at 250), once said this on the importance of voting: “Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote...that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.”

When we vote biblical values, we obey what the Lord would have us do. Jesus is not on the ballot, so ultimately we are voting for a sinner. But the question is where does that sinner stand on key issues?

Where do they stand on abortion? We know that many women today have been deceived into aborting their child, thinking that would simply end their problem. In reality, it has created many more problems. But there’s forgiveness and healing through Christ.

Where do the politicians stand on religious liberty? We know that many, if not most, of those who initially settled America came here for religious liberty. Today, that freedom is in jeopardy.

What types of judges will these politicians give us? Those that promote sin or those that would uphold justice?

The Bible declares that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34).

There are some Christians who are so upset with the high price of gas because of the Iranian conflict that they will sit this election out. But their non-vote is a vote—a vote for someone with whom they probably would disagree vehemently.

For this column, I reached out to Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., asking her for any charge to the faithful. Evangelist King is the founder and director of Speak for Life.

Alveda told me: “Don’t let a poll or a headline talk you out of voting. Polls don’t cast ballots. People do. God made us of one blood, one human family, and we have a responsibility to care for our neighbors and the generations coming behind us. Pray for wisdom. Examine the candidates and their policies. Vote your faith, not your fear. Let your convictions guide your choices, and treat those who disagree with dignity. Whatever the predictions say, do your part. Don’t surrender your voice before you have used it.” Amen.

For a radio segment, I interviewed Debbie Wuthnow of ivoterguide.com about the midterms. She told our listeners: “100% we need to vote. God commanded us to be salt and light and we need to be salt and light in that government.”

It is a privilege to vote. It is our Christian duty to vote. So, vote your biblical values. If enough Christians show up and vote biblical values, we could carry this election—and every election.
