Mainstream media now Santorum's Super PAC -- and they don't even realize it

The mainstream media, as obtuse as they are, do not realize that they are playing right into Rick Santorum's hands. They are doing a better job than Santorum ever could of getting his message of unapologetic social conservatism out to the American public.

The mainstream media have now become the Santorum SuperPAC.

These ego-driven, arrogant liberal pundits, completely out of touch with how ordinary, church-going, family-oriented Americans think, believe they are delivering one knock-out blow after another by giving the highest possible profile to statements Santorum makes that they think are wacko-extreme.

But these positions — whether on gay marriage, women in combat, the hoax of global warming, the existence of Satan and evil in the world — are extreme only in their own fevered imaginations.

His positions simply make good common and moral sense to the majority of Americans. For instance, they know that Jesus believed in the existence of Satan, and said more about him than any other figure in the Bible. They know perfectly well that if elites have a problem with Santorum's Satan talk, their problem is not with Santorum, it is with Jesus.

It's the elites who are too dull to recognize that by attacking Santorum on this issue they are insulting Jesus Christ himself. The message of the elites is thus that Jesus himself was also too stupid to understand that Satan is just a figment of a hyper-active imagination.

And they are also insulting anyone and everyone who sincerely believes in Jesus and believes he had some idea what he was talking about. If you are trying to knock Santorum into the next zip code, this is not a smart move.

By giving visibility to his message that no money on earth can buy, they are turbo-charging his candidacy. They think they are the smartest ones in the room, and because of that ego-centric blindness they don't even realize they are getting played for chumps.

They are simply helping Santorum's candidacy soar, since his message is resonating with the ordinary Americans the cultural elites despise.

The media is obsessed with Santorum, salivating over one sound bite after another 24-7. So Santorum has every voice and every outlet in the nation talking incessantly about his campaign and his policy positions. Wait, isn't that what a campaign is supposed to be all about?

The media only has eyes for Santorum. Romney, Gingrich and Paul are being virtually ignored. And the self-anointed elites think this is hurting Santorum!

Even some conservatives have criticized Santorum for his unapologetic, bold, and unwavering talk on values. They want him to get off the whole social values thing. They themselves apparently do not realize that it is Santorum's unflinching stand for social values that has shot him to the top of the heap. What else could it be? It's not his money, since he doesn't have any. It's not debates, since there hasn't been one in three weeks. It's not his position on economic issues, since the media has hardly given any attention to his views on that at all.

No, what has energized Santorum's candidacy is that the majority of Americans are ecstatic to have, at last, someone in the public arena who represents their values without wavering, vacillating, retreating, or trying to finesse them when under pressure.

The mainstream media, bless their little misguided hearts, may just send Rick Santorum straight to the White House.
