Supporters of natural marriage threatened with physical violence in Washington State

After the Washington state legislature passed a law granting homosexual relationships all the rights and privileges of marriage, making them the full equal of marriage in all but name, concerned citizens, led by my friend Larry Stickney of the Washington Values Alliance, immediately launched a referendum drive to give the people of Washington an opportunity to reject this wrong-headed piece of legislation.

Here are the words of a paragon of compassion and tolerance, gay activist John Bisceglia, urging acts of physical violence and murder against supporters of natural marriage:

"I advocate using violence against the property of ALL of those who are working tirelessly to HURT my family; starting with churches and government property. Government is enabling a vote on whether or not I "should be allowed" to see my husband (sic) while he is dying in the hospital — any NORMAL man would be driven to get a gun and kill those who tried such evil cruelty against his loved ones." (Caps in original)

Gay activists never tire of accusing supporters of natural marriage of fomenting hatred toward gays and creating an atmosphere which is so poisoned that we are directly responsible for any and all acts of violence against homosexuals. This accusation is made despite the utter absence of any proof that pro-family, pro-faith conservatives are responsible for any violence directed at gays, or even urging in any way that violence be directed against them.

In fact, instances of violence against homosexuals are so rare that gay activists have to manufacture them. They have to create their own victims since faith-based conservatives just aren't creating enough to satisfy their craving for martyrdom. In Idaho, after citizens there overwhelmingly passed a marriage amendment in 2006, a homosexual claimed just days after the election that he had been assaulted near Boise State University and beaten because of his sexual orientation, just, he said, as gay activists had predicted.

Unfortunately, his story quickly fell apart under questioning, and he was forced to admit that he had beaten himself up and tried to pin it on supporters of natural marriage. He was subsequently tried and convicted of making a false statement to police.

But now in Washington state a direct threat has been made against members of the faith community and even against government officials who do their duty and allow the democratic process to play out.

You will note that Mr. Bisceglia is so bent on forcing his agenda down our throats that he wants any government official who allows the people to vote on the definition of marriage to be shot dead. And he wants church property destroyed because it is the church that teaches the sacred truth that marriage is, always has been, and always will be, exclusively the union on one man and one woman.

So once again myths promoted by the left are exposed for what they are. It is people of faith who refuse to countenance the use of violence to advance the cause of righteousness, while the forces of the left openly advocate arson and murder in the pursuit of their dark agenda. It is people of faith who use the tools of a republican form of government to enact legislation that reflects the will of the people, while the forces of the left openly advocate a tyrannical oppression in which we are forced to accept their version of morality whether we like it or not.

I don't know about you, but I think I'm sticking with the people of faith on this one.
