Taiwan, Pelosi’s attention-getting distraction: A political stunt

It is beyond belief that the speaker, who tore up the copies of Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address on national television, expects us to take her trip to Taiwan seriously.

Known for bizarre contradictions and stunts, Pelosi long ago set the stage for most Americans to see her as something between a selfish and typical grandstander and one of the worst speakers in the history of our nation.

We can only speculate which distraction she had in mind. Was it a deliberate attempt to take the nation’s focus off her husband’s drunk driving charges or his insider trading?

The other possibility is that she was trying to divert attention away from Joe Biden’s ever-growing list of dismal failures.

A final possibility is that she was trying to seal her legacy before the mid-term elections. Her chances for survival as the Speaker of the House is in serious jeopardy after November of 2022.

We can be sure of two things. The first is that Pelosi has no place in the diplomatic core or foreign service of this country. She has overstepped her boundaries.

Second, it was previously known that her visit would only serve to anger our greatest enemy, and we were well informed of that possibility. While it may be true that no nation can dictate where our ambassadors and members of state may visit, the question why she appointed herself for the visit looms large and remains mainly unanswered.

As expected, according to Fox News, it only served to anger the Chinese, and it is a relationship that doesn’t need any further tension added to it at this present juncture.

Fox described the Chinese feelings about it saying, "This is a serious violation of the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-U.S. joint communiqués. It has a severe impact on the political foundation of China-U.S. relations, and seriously infringes upon China's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote. "There is but one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China."

Even if it could be said that there was some important greater purpose in the Pelosi junket, she babbled and ranted through the entire show leaving everyone bewildered on exactly where she was going.

Seeing is believing:

Pelosi is on the way back having nearly missed being the cause for World War III, and we can only hope she stays home from now on to give Paul rides to AA meetings.

There are many who believe Nancy Pelosi has acted like someone who is out of her mind; others would say she is just out of her depth.

We would hope she discovers exactly who and what she is in the scheme of things, but until then, we can all pray that she doesn’t start the next world war.

“For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.” (Ga 6:3)
