Trump returns to gender as God designed and defined it

The Trump administration is weighing in on the subject of transgenderism, and the good news is that Trump officials are weighing in on the side of biological truth. At last, some sense of rationality and sanity is returning to the public debate on this topic.

Title IX in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 bans discrimination on the basis of "sex." The Obama administration stretched the simple and straightforward meaning of this word ("sex" meaning either "male" or "female") out of all recognition and squeezed "gender identity" into it, and then used this expanded and wholly unsupportable definition to ban discrimination against people who are so mentally confused that they think they are trapped in an opposite sex body.

Well, executive activism is just as bad as judicial activism, and the President is taking steps to clarify matters. According to the New York Times, "[T]he Department of Health and Human Services is spearheading an effort to establish a legal definition of sex under Title IX, the federal civil rights law that bans gender discrimination in education programs that receive government financial assistance . . . The department argued in its memo that key government agencies needed to adopt an explicit and uniform definition of gender as determined 'on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable.' The agency's proposed definition would define sex as either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with..."

This definition has the added benefit of being something that has been true since the beginning of time. We have always determined the "gender," or better, the "sex," of a newborn baby by its genitalia. The differences between external male and female sex organs are clear and unmistakable, and always have been. This is not rocket surgery. It's a simple matter of biological fact. The birth certificate of every newborn classifies the newborn as "male" or "female" based on the doctor's observation of genitalia.

In fact, the sex of every child is stamped by God at the moment of conception. At the moment of conception, a new human being comes into existence. That child either has an XY chromosome, which marks him as a male, or an XX chromosome that marks her as a female. The Trump administration quite logically points out that any confusion on the matter can be "clarified through genetic testing."

The definition of "gender" in Title IX was not expanded by consulting the Oxford dictionary but by executive fiat. By substituting the term "gender" – a vague, undefined term – for the clear and unambiguous term "sex," sexual anarchists have convinced many foolish and unthinking Americans that gender is a matter of psychology rather than physiology. They want us to think that "gender" is in your head, rather than in your body. But it's not. Linguistic activism is just as bad as judicial branch activism, and the president's move is a move in the direction of clarity and truth, a move that is long overdue.

The whole gender thing serves as another example of the left accomplishing its agenda through activism rather than through legislation. Advocates for sexual deviancy know that they cannot advance their agenda by going to Congress to get it done. Congress has never, despite repeated efforts, passed legislation that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. So sexual aberrationists resort to people in power in either the executive branch or judicial branch to propel their priorities into public policies that threaten religious freedom everywhere.

For those who have a high regard for the word of God, as the Founders did in the 18th century and as conservative Christians do today, there never has been any confusion. On the first page of the Bible we are told that there are two and only two "genders," male and female. "[M]ale and female he created them" (Genesis 1:27). Facebook may believe there are 58 genders to choose from, but God and biological science tell us something different.

Transgender and transvestite activists have picked up the baton from homosexual activists, who by judicial fiat have achieved all their goals. But it's not too late to roll back the extremist transgender agenda, and President Trump has taken the first steps by prohibiting transgenders from serving in the military and from taking refuge in a civil rights act that does not apply to them.

The President is taking us back to science, back to biology, and ultimately back to the Bible. There's nothing wrong and everything right about that.
