Good idea: Democrat mayor wants BLM protesters controlled with water cannons
By Kevin Fobbs
Finally a Democrat public official has come up with an idea to deal with the violence, anarchy and race-baiting antics of Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters. For several years BLM has wreaked havoc on public streets and its unhinged supporters have caused upwards of tens of millions of damages. Now, it seems even the democrats are getting more than a little fed up with its leaders' resist, resist, resist rhetoric. According to Breitbart, Democrat Mayor Karen Peconi of Arnold, Westmoreland County, Penn., called for BLM "rioters to be destroyed by a water cannon."
Finally, someone in authority has the good common sense to let loose the tools that should be used to control these rhetoric-filled anarchists. In reality, why did it take so long for an elected official to take control back from this group's game plan of organized chaos?
Mayor Peconi's communication vehicle of choice was Facebook. She apparently had had enough and said, "posting this so the authorities everywhere sees this ... bring the hoses." Then, "they don't care about jobs for PGH ... none of them work now. That's how they can do this at 7 a.m. Very sad."
The mayor is absolutely correct about her statement. How does one disperse rioters that are bent on destruction? You hose them out of the street and away from those that are not being disruptive. As she so artfully put it, "they don't care about jobs for PGH ... none of them work now." That's right, none of them work now and they don't care about a 9-5 job either. So, what exactly are elected officials to do when hundreds if not thousands BLM rioters show up on their streets to cause injury and damage?
You meet these diabolical protesters' riotous force with the force of legal authority. If that means turn loose the water cannons, then so be it. Sounds simple. Well, with BLM and its band of misguided, logically challenged leaders, their riotous ends justify an appropriate means of response.
These protesters have demanded legal justice for the police shooting of unarmed black 17-year-old Antwon Rose in East Pittsburgh. Rose was fleeing a traffic stop when he was allegedly shot by Officer Michael Rosfeld. That officer has now been charged with criminal homicide. Not satisfied with letting the legal system take its course in dealing with the accused police officer, protest leaders are attacking the mayor for her Facebook comments.
As the backlash to her justifiable comments mounted, the mayor issued an apology. Mayor Peconi wrote in a statement, "I love this community, I would do anything for the people here. I don't take my position as Mayor lightly and deeply regret the comments I made on Facebook. It was never my intention to offend anyone, and for those who I offended I am sincerely sorry."
Sorry does not seem to be cutting it with some in the city, including protester Melvyn Smith, who according to Breitbart said, "She says that she loves Arnold. If you love Arnold, you won't do things to hurt it. You'll do the things that will make it heal and feel better," he said. "Her resignation is what would do that."
Honestly, the mayor should have stuck to her guns. As for Melvyn Smith, if there is any rioting and destruction or property or physical harm to police and bystanders, send him the bill.
