Why won’t Democrats solve the border crisis?

The American southern border has been increasingly problematic for decades. It has become a criminal problem, an economic problem, and a national security problem. By the 21st century, illegal immigration was perennially a top concern for Americans – who demanded our government secure our borders and get illegal immigration under control. Every election, Americans were disappointed by empty campaign promises until President Trump made it his top priority. Trump beefed up resources for the Border Patrol and ICE, implemented tough common sense policies, negotiated with Mexico to stem the flow, and started building a real border wall. Illegal immigration plummeted and Trump was on the verge of getting illegal immigration under control when he was shot out of the saddle.

Joe Biden left his inauguration to immediately undo every Trump policy. Biden gutted ICE, reversed Trump immigration policies, and stopped building the wall on day one. Within a couple months, the border was in crisis again and illegal immigration soared setting new records every month. President Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, declared during his tenure that 1,000 daily illegal immigrant encounters was a crisis. Under Biden, daily encounters have reached about 8,000 daily, but now Biden is threatening to rescind Title 42 which allows DHS to turn back illegal immigrants based on COVID19 concerns. Projections of this shortsighted move are that daily encounters could surge to 18,000!

We are already watching an invasion and now we are about to be overrun. Clear majorities of Americans want the borders secured and illegal immigration curbed; and now over a year later a majority of Americans disapprove of Biden’s border policies, but Democrats refuse to relent! WHY?!

The short answer is Democrats simply don’t want to stop the border crisis. Despite myriad polling forecasting a Democrat drubbing in the midterm elections, Democrats dismiss the polling and ignore the voters. They bizarrely believe illegal immigration serves them politically.

It can be a complicated analysis. Hordes of illegal immigrants provide a bottomless well of cheap labor that drives down wages for working Americans and that’s a double hit as sky rocketing Biden inflation tramples real purchasing power. Democrats find this useful because it helps make Americans more dependent on government hand-outs. All the free money the past year is no coincidence; it’s akin to drug dealers offering samples to get their victims hooked. Increasing dependency on government increases government power; that’s their goal.

The torrent of illegal immigration has utterly overwhelmed our law enforcement. They cannot keep up with the burgeoning humanitarian crisis, so they have little time to fight the flood of illegal drugs. Cartels use the illegal immigrants as a distraction, so they can move record amounts of drugs across the border. All this increases crime and fosters immorality as drug abuse rises; again all this enhances cultural decay and societal chaos – leftists with totalitarian designs covet catastrophe and decline.

While there are many sinister consequences from ignoring if not promoting illegal immigration, perhaps the simplest explanation is new voters. Democrats don’t want to stop illegal immigration because it’s their best voter drive since they are losing average Americans in droves. Democrats continue to push for lax voting rules and in several places like New York City or California passed new legislation to allow non-citizens to vote.

At current rates of unabated illegal immigration, illegal immigrants could exceed well over ten percent of the US population within about a decade. If they are allowed to vote, such a block could sway just about any election. All of these reasons probably factor into Democrats cynical calculations on exacerbating illegal immigration, but the certain result from all these aspects is to maximize damage to the American economy and society.

Democrats are realizing voters will oust them from power in November, so why won’t they reconsider and actually listen to voters? Why won’t they back away from their extreme policies and try to mitigate their losses with voters? First, they don’t really care what average Americans want; and second, they expect weak Republicans to fail to rectify the carnage Democrats will leave them. Democrats expect the majority of their radical changes to survive until they can return to power and resume their quest to dismantle our Republic.

“Fear and a snare have come upon us, Desolation and destruction” (Lamentations 3:47).
