Edgy petitions for new year
By Rev. Austin Miles
WALNUT CREEK, CA (12/31/14-NEW YEARS EVE – It was ASTONISHING to see the crowd packing into the club house last evening for an invitational Christmas/New Years Event for the Republican Party where an invocation was to be given. I had no idea that there were that many Republicans in the entire State of California....actually it was surprising to learn that there were ANY Republicans in The Golden State.
Knowing that we are on the cusp of the most vital historical events in the history of the world about to unfold, the following invocation was given. It was so well received that it seemed only proper that it be shared with our readers since it applies to us all.
With that in mind, would you please bow your heads with us in prayer:
Our most gracious and wonderful Heavenly Father,
We come to you in prayer and thanksgiving, recognizing your intervention during a perilous time as our country spiraled down a path of destruction, chaos and the worst of all, immorality that serves the enemy by sapping the strength of a people and a nation.
Grant us WISDOM, Oh Lord, as we prepare to enter the New Year of 2015, where great responsibility rests upon OUR shoulders to put America back on track, a track long ago established by our Founders which resulted in success of a new nation that amazed the world, then sadly, was later abandoned under the guise of "progress."
Please grant our new leaders in Congress and The Senate strength of character to work for the interests of our country rather than for themselves. Let their minds be seized with determination to see our nation once again take her rightful place as a leader of the world. And guide our newly elected local leaders.
Father, I realize that not everyone shares my Christian beliefs, but these important people will be compelled to recognize that WHEN our nation Exalted God, society was much safer for everyone and their families, including those who do not share the household of faith.
God had blessed our economy, our productivity, peace in our neighborhoods and unstoppable might during conflicts.
May we all have the intense desire to again enter that phase of our history which can be attained by following the instructions of God as written in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
"IF my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sin, and WILL HEAL THEIR LAND."
I beseech thee, Oh Lord, to put this in the hearts of every newly elected official and to each of us, so that we may see the healing of our land, a return to ethics, commitment and personal responsibility...we ask all of this in Jesus' Name, AMEN.
And may this New Year ring in the happiest, most productive and fulfilling years you have ever known. And may God bless you.
