The strange antics of Roger Ailes
By Cliff Kincaid
Dan Rather used to say, "Courage," when he was on his way out. Shannon Bream of Fox News says their watchword is "fearless." Give me a break. Fox News has been anything but fearless.
Fox News Chief Roger Ailes says, "We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth."
Ailes made these comments in a letter objecting to the Obama Administration's targeting of his employee, James Rosen. Ailes should defend his employees, but in this case he is comparing Barack Obama to anti-communist Senator Joseph McCarthy. What a strange choice of words. Ailes doesn't seem to understand what he is up against.
Ailes' letter to his employees can be found here. I find it bizarre that conservatives like Ailes try to make themselves look good by smearing Joe McCarthy. It seems McCarthy is a punching bag for liberals and conservatives.
If McCarthy were alive today, he would be holding hearings into Barack Obama's Marxist roots. That is a subject that Fox News and the Republicans on Capitol Hill shy away from. They can't shine McCarthy's shoes.
Back in 2008, we released our reports on Obama's communist connections and the 600-page FBI file on Obama's communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis. Fox News did not cover any of that. They were afraid they would be accused of McCarthyism.
If Fox News had done its job then, perhaps this assault on our nation could have been avoided. Fox News didn't understand the Marxist threat.
Do I have to remind you that communism killed 100 million people in the last century?
By the way, do you know that Rupert Murdoch, head of the Fox News parent company, News Corporation, is backing Obama's plan for "immigration reform?"
ABC News notes, "Murdoch, Australian born and a naturalized U.S. citizen, has become an outspoken advocate for immigration reform and mass legalization of the country's undocumented immigrants, partnering with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in this cause."
The story quotes an activist as saying, "Sean Hannity is in favor [of immigration reform], did an 180 degree turn. You're looking at Bill O'Reilly, who endorsed [Sen.] Marco Rubio's principles overwhelmingly. Even Charles Krauthammer has posted and said something needs to be done"
In other words, Murdoch and his top commentators are siding WITH Obama. The ABC story says Fox could play a "make-or-break" role, depending on how they cover it.
I signed a letter with other conservatives opposing the Senate bill. We must stop this legislation.
Keep your eyes on Fox News. Frankly, I don't trust Ailes. He even funds the homosexual lobby.
But back to Joe McCarthy for a moment: M. Stanton Evans wrote a Human Events column, "When Conservatives Parrot Liberal Lies about Joe McCarthy," noting that some conservatives "know nothing at all about McCarthy except what the liberals deign to tell them." That is the case with Ailes.
Evans noted, "McCarthy was repeatedly proved right, about the larger picture of subversion, and about a host of individual cases." Read the column Reed Irvine and I wrote back in 2000: Joe McCarthy Was Right.
McCarthy tried to prevent the betrayal of America that Barack Obama is carrying out. Ailes should know that. Yet, even today, he smears McCarthy. What a dunce.
If Ailes is outraged that Fox News reporter James Rosen has been targeted by the Obama Administration, he should fight back. But the way is not to smear Joe McCarthy but expose Obama.
We are waiting. We have the goods.
