The apostasy is underway -- no one is ready for what follows

It is impossible to cover every aspect of the second coming doctrine in a single article, but it suffices to say, that regardless of current events, economics, geopolitics or any other change across the globe everything is leading up to one major change.

What is that change?

"And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever." (Rev 11: 15)

But, how do we get to this point?

Every prophecy of the Bible carries the nations all the way to the revealing of the antichrist, but before he is shown to the entire world one sweeping change affects the entire church. The church spoken of in scripture is neither exclusively Catholic nor Protestant and in fact, may include some of both and some people who are neither, but they are secure in their faith in Jesus Christ.

The church described in scripture is the called out body of people who are known to Christ and who have been connected to him by being born again. Regardless what they may call themselves or what sect, denomination or persuasion they are, if they know him and obey him they are the church.

Unfortunately, one of the most important prophecies of the bible clearly warns that when the church begins to apostate (fall away) from bible truths and true discipleship to Christ there is only one step left to the beginning of the worst period of time the world will ever see.

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." (2 Th 2: 3-4)

The best way to describe the apostasy of the church is to let you see it for yourself. Check these links.

This list is not comprehensive and this is only the tip of the iceberg.

The idea of all religions joining hands and becoming one throughout the world is also part of the apostasy.

Under the influence of liberalism the false unity of ecumenism and the bible slaughtering twists and turns of syncretism the last day's church is called the "whore." (Rev 17:16) The kingdom that is formed after the apostasy and led by the antichrist is called the "beast" – does either of these terms even remotely indicate that the world has chosen the right path for its illustrious future?

What follows the apostasy? – The Man!

Paul said the apostasy was first and right behind we will see the man who is to rule the earth for the last tragic seven years of time. He is a political, military, megalomaniacal genius of the highest order, but the world will love him. Hitler was an amateur compared to him because Satan pulls out all the stops to give him preeminence throughout the entire world.

Not only does he follow the apostasy, but he cannot enter the world scene without it. The secular world offers little resistance to their poster boy and the church is slipping into falsehood so fast it cannot stop him, nor does it want to, in fact, the apostate church will not even recognize him.

Some will resist him at the cost of their lives. They will see when he destroys what looks like one big happy union of all religions and declares himself as all that needs to be worshipped and admired. He will be unable to speak of God without blaspheming and he will think he should change all of time and history to fit his great entrance into the world. Much about him is known, and for the discerning can be found very easily.

Prophecy: The Rock that Cannot Be Moved

No Temple – No Deal

Religionists of every kind have always sought out the perceived "holy places" in our world. Mecca, the Vatican, et al, but Christ has re-directed the view of the true believer to a Holy as yet, unseen God who has sent his Son for the world to see in what the bible calls the "fulness of time." (Eph 1: 10) This is another way of saying the "perfect time." But it is a done deal and little more will be added to that revelation until the very last days of time.

The Jewish temple will be re-built as sure as the sun rises. It will be what some call the third temple and it is the very place where the most serious sin of man is enacted. Christ called it the "abomination of desolation." (Mt 24: 15) It is a sin that God sees so serious that it is called an abomination and the result of it leaves the world desolate.

The word "abomination" is used sparingly in scriptures. It is a sin that makes God sick to disgust. Besides its use to describe how God views the antichrist trying to pass himself off as God, it is also used to describe the sin of homosexuality and bestiality.

Judgments begin at the very same time this sin is done and it is seen by everyone throughout the world.

In order for the temple to be built, the Dome of the Rock (Qubbat As-Sakhrah) which now stands on the temple mount must be removed – but how?

Speculation abounds about just how the Dome will be removed, but here are seven possibilities, any one of them may fill the bill.

1. Earthquake

2. Hamas rocket gone off course

3. Palestine Authority now controlling the Dome could be dissolved

4. Erosion reported under the dome could cause it to collapse

5. An act of terrorism could be successful and it will be blown up

6. Unknown – any number of unforeseen possibilities

7. God destroys it in the wars of Ezekiel 37-39

It does well to note that after the abomination of desolation is accomplished all interventions are Divine and not man-made or natural occurrences. Prior to the beginning of God's judgments many events that may be construed as prophetic in nature may occur. Until all the chips are counted it cannot be ascertained for sure if God is using these events to fulfill prophecy or not.

Here are three examples of speculations that may after all be the fulfillment of prophecies, but it is too soon to tell.

According to Isaiah 17: 1, the city of Damascus will be completely destroyed and remain a heap from then on. Today Damascus is being turned into a pile of rubble by the civil war that is raging in Syria. Is that Isaiah 17?

The drying up of the Euphrates River is heralded by some as the fulfillment of Revelation 16: 12. The water flow is controlled by the Turkish government from the reservoir behind the Ataturk Dam. The problem with this idea is that the judgment that invokes this event falls after the abomination of desolation, a fact only a few prophecy teachers have noted.

Another event that is prophesied also is open to whether God uses direct intervention or the hand of man. The city of seven mountains (Rome) is destroyed in one single day. If God does this alone then all speculation has ended, but if man is involved, who might be the most likely candidate for this event?

We are all watching with bated breath as Iran seeks to develop a nuclear capacity and a missile system capable of delivering warheads as far as the United States. While everyone is focused on long range missiles that can reach America, the question few are asking may be far more important.

Do they wait until long range missiles are available to reach New York, the center of culture and commerce in the U.S., or, would an intermediate range missile do to strike at the perceived center of Christianity – Rome?

Remember it is a whopping 6,140 miles from Tehran to New York City, but it is only 2,600 miles from Tehran to Rome. With the Muslims already killing Christians in Iraq, Sudan, Nigeria and a few dozen other countries this portent is not that hard to imagine.

These are not questions to add to the confusion, the world is already in deep confusion and they are possible answers to what the outcome may be.

As the Church sinks into apostasy the prophetic indicates in no uncertain terms that antichrist is next. This may be un-wanted prophecy, but it is not confusing.

It has never been harder to be a true Christian than it is today, but grace is always abounding and the call is good until the very last moment of time. Whether it's the drying up of the Euphrates or the worldwide drying up of humanity that is sweeping across our world – this calling is given to us all.

"And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." (Rev 21: 5-6)
