I have been arguing since the Ft. Hood massacre of 2009 that the time has come to stop Islamic immigration, stop the building of mosques, and stop the practice of allowing Muslims to serve in our military, all for the purposes of protecting our national security.

In the wake of the terrible cold-blooded murders of four unarmed Marines and a sailor in Chattanooga at the hands of a Muslim jihadist, Franklin Graham is calling for the cessation of Muslim immigration into the United States. He's entirely right to do so.

Here's what Graham said on his Facebook page (emphasis mine):

"We are under attack by Muslims at home and abroad. We should stop all immigration of Muslims to the U.S. until this threat with Islam has been settled. Every Muslim that comes into this country has the potential to be radicalized – and they do their killing to honor their religion and Muhammad. During World War 2, we didn't allow Japanese to immigrate to America, nor did we allow Germans. Why are we allowing Muslims now? Do you agree? Let your Congressman know that we've got to put a stop to this and close the flood gates."

This is not Islamophobia. It is Islamorealism.

If anyone should have a good read on the Muslim world, it would be Franklin Graham. His charity, Samaritan's Purse, works in dozens of Muslim countries around the world. He's seen what Muslim ideology produces up close and personal.

Let's stipulate that most Muslims do not want to kill American infidels. The problem is that we have no way to tell the difference between the Muslims we don't have to worry about and the ones we do.

The friends and family members of the Muslim shooter in this case, as in so many other cases, were "shocked" to hear what he had done. Non-plussed profiles in low-information media outlets painted him as just an ordinary young American guy who liked to play wiffle ball in the neighborhood and was well-liked by his friends. He was not on anybody's radar, including the Department of Homeland Security, the outfit that's supposed to protect us. In other words, nobody, I mean nobody, saw it coming. That ought to scare us to death and prompt us to take aggressive action.

You can go to the beach with a metal detector and find all kinds of things that can't be seen with the naked eye. But we have no jihad detector which can identify the Muslims who are bent on killing Americans on American soil. From a purely logical, objective and rational standpoint, it means we must be careful with them all.

Can Muslim immigration to the United States be stopped? Of course it can. Article I, Section 8 gives to Congress unconditional authority to establish the parameters of our immigration policy. What we lack is not the capacity but the will, which is why Rev. Graham is encouraging us all to contact our congressmen.

What about compassion, some will say? The proper response is simple: where is the compassion for the families of the five members of our military whom they will never see again this side of the kingdom of God?

The first and highest obligation of the national government is to protect our national security. When it comes the threat of Islam, they are not getting the job done. While it may be true that we are not at war with Islam, Islam is most definitely at war with us and we must defend ourselves against the threat. Marines are now safer in Afghanistan than they are in Tennessee, and something is badly wrong with that picture.

Here's what Maj. Mike Abrams, the commander of the four dead Marines, said:

"When you're in a combat environment . . . and someone gets killed by an IED or a direct-fire engagement, as horrible as that is, it's easier to accept. When they are stateside in Chattanooga, in the heartland of America, and they kiss their wife and kids and say goodbye and go to work and they get shot . . . the shock of that is much harder to accept and much harder to find meaning in."

The American people have just about had it up to here with the mindless policies of Republican and Democrat administrations alike who seem immune to both truth and reason when it comes to dealing with the threat Islam poses to the West.

Paula Proxmire is the mother of one of the victims, Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith, who was just 26. At a memorial event across the from the site of the attack, photographers stuck their cameras in her face as "she brushed back a strand of sweat-soaked hair and sobbed."

Said Pastor Darrell Gibbs, "How many more mothers have to go through this before we finally do something about it? How many mothers have to suffer like this, having cameras shoved down their throats?"

I remember hearing a story a number of years ago about how a mental institution determined whether residents were ready for life on the outside. They opened up all the shower heads in the shower room, and sent residents in with a mop and a bucket to clean it up.

The only ones who were sane enough for life in the real world were those who first turned off the taps before mopping up the mess. When it comes to Islamic immigration, It's time to turn off the spigots. All of them.

Franklin Graham has issued the call. Who will join him?
