ANDREW C. MCCARTHY — You're not going to like this. Our commander-in-chief is recklessly releasing jihadists from Guantanamo Bay. The president's Bush-deranged base is buoyed by the all-out effort to fulfill his vow to shut down the detention camp. But the vast majority of Americans remain opposed, and increasingly alarmed... ALAN KEYES — Obama's recent State of the Union speech to Congress, and the GOP responses to it, put me in mind of the famous observation, sometimes attributed to Benjamin Franklin: Democracy is like two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner. But in our day, the wolves have increased in cunning and declined in forbearance. To describe contemporary politics, the saying would have to be revised... (more)

STEFANI WILLIAMS — During the first week of January, something extraordinary happened. Droves of Republican voters, unhappy with the status quo in Washington, took to social media, email, mail, faxes, and their phones to voice their dissatisfaction with GOP House Speaker John Boehner, and to insist he be replaced as Speaker. The public rejection of Boehner as Speaker was virtually unheard of... (more)

ROBERT KNIGHT — Fresh from offering "free" health care, "free" phones and "free" food to the masses, he's upped the bribery to "free" community college tuition and "free" child care. It's not that the Clintons oppose any of these; they just need to affect moderation in case Hillary runs for president and has to knock back boilermakers again with the good old boys in Pennsylvania taverns.... NEWSMAX — President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech last week seemed "detached from reality," former Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Sunday on "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York. "The president's State of the Union speech was pessimistic in my opinion," Perry told host John Catsimatidis, noting that Obama made no mention of al-Qaida and the activities of other terrorist groups around the world. Nor did he mention "our friends, and our great democracy in the Middle East, Israel."... (more)

ANDREW C. MCCARTHY — Footballs are deflating, the president is detached from reality, the Saudi king is deceased, and the sharia state next door, Yemen, is descending into bloody chaos. With mere anarchy loosed upon the world, it would be easy to miss the fact that, in England this week, Bobby Jindal gave as important and compelling a speech as has been delivered in years about America -- our leadership role on the world stage, our preservation as a beacon of liberty.... WASHINGTON EXAMINER — The fastest growing states in the U.S. also tend to be ones with lower-than-average rates of union membership, according to an analysis of data released on Friday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. MICHELLE MALKIN — When President Obama declares something a "success story," you know it has "TOTAL FAILURE" embedded in its DNA. Four months ago, America's King Midas in Reverse crowed about the fruits of his triumphant foreign policy in jihad-infested Yemen. A "light footprint" approach to counterterrorism operations, he claimed, was the most effective path to stability. In addition, Obama has shoveled nearly $1 billion in American tax-subsidized foreign aid to Yemen.... (more)
