Alan Keyes decries 'false evangelism' that tickles itching ears
ALAN KEYES There are times when passages from the sacred Scripture speak with startling accuracy about the crisis of our times. It is as if the inspired writer stands in our midst, witnessing the abandonment of truth in word and deed that more and more forcibly strives to darken and pre-empt the "faith that was once for all delivered to the saints." It has tragically become the norm to read accounts of Christ followers in the U.S. and elsewhere

LIFESITE NEWS Catholic actor Jim Caviezel, who famously played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ, told university students on Sunday that they must set themselves apart from this "corrupt generation" and "be saints." 'They have the power, they talk about using the power, they use the power'
ART MOORE To anyone who insists that the left-leaning, anti-Trump bias reflected in the latest leak of internal Google communications has no bearing on the way the tech giant builds or operates its products, there is hard evidence that proves otherwise, contends a Harvard-trained researcher who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016.... CHARLES HURT It has been nothing short of miraculous in this new season of Advent to hear all the Hosannas and applause for our recently departed former President George H.W. Bush. ROBERT KNIGHT There's been loose talk over America's ideological divide becoming so bitter that it could lead to armed conflict. A Democratic congressman quipped that if gun owners resisted with force his proposal to confiscate rifles, it would be a "short war" because the government has nuclear weapons. Right. The feds are going to nuke Texas. The congressman (Eric Swalwell of California) has since taken a good amount of flak for his statement, which he said was a joke.... (more)

WASHINGTON TIMES CBS' "Murphy Brown" took its jabs at the Trump administration to a new level this week with a story in which character Frank Fontana is beaten by a mob of MAGA-hat wearing thugs. ANDREW C. MCCARTHY Right after Special Counsel Robert Mueller racked up yet another guilty plea to a false-statements charge on Thursday, a friend asked me, "Doesn't this destroy Michael Cohen's credibility as a witness?" Easier to destroy Satan's conscience, I thought. Cohen would have to have some credibility before it could be destroyed, and how much could reside in a self-described "fixer" who openly compared himself to Tom Hagen, the lawyer-gangster in The Godfather?... The under-reported Christian angle to the Gary Hart scandal of "Front Runner"
JERRY NEWCOMBE There's a new movie out based on the Gary Hart scandal of 1987. It's called "Front Runner" and stars Hugh Jackman. You may recall that Gary Hart, a handsome Democrat politician from Colorado, was easily the front runner in the road to the 1988 presidential election, at least the primaries. But he derailed himself in 1987 through a sexual scandal on board a South Florida yacht, appropriately called "Monkey Business."... (more)
