CLIFF KINCAID — The push to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh has been dogged by one scandal after another. It was supposed to be an easy confirmation process because he knew what to say and how to say it to the liberals. He told them abortion and gay rights were "settled law." But he offered the left a target-rich environment that has tainted not only his reputation but his Catholic education and the conservative movement.... (more)

WASHINGTON TIMES — President Trump told the United Nations on Tuesday that the U.S. is guided by patriotism instead of globalism, rejecting the authority of world bodies such as the International Criminal Court, the World Trade Organization and a U.N. migration initiative even as he praised the U.N. itself as a force for peace. In the most in-your-face defense yet of his "America First" agenda, a defiant Mr. Trump stood before U.N. delegates who sneered openly at him and told them that the U.S. will never submit to international controls as long as he is in charge.... Truth, due process, evidence, rights of the accused: All are swept aside in pursuit of the progressive agenda
VICTOR DAVIS HANSON — George Orwell's 1949 dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four is no longer fiction. We are living it right now. Google techies planned to massage Internet searches to emphasize correct thinking. A member of the so-called deep state, in an anonymous op-ed, brags that its "resistance" is undermining an elected president. The FBI, CIA, DOJ, and NSC were all weaponized in 2016 to ensure that the proper president would be elected -- the choice adjudicated by properly progressive ideology. Wearing a wire is now redefined as simply flipping on an iPhone and recording your boss, boy- or girlfriend, or co-workers.... (more)

WASHINGTON TIMES — Professors at Yale University have roiled the immigration debate with a new study calculating there are between 16 million and 30 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. -- as much as three times more than most demographers figure. The professors' model looked at estimates of how many people came illegally, and how many people likely left, and concluded there are a lot more people who arrived than the 11 million suggested by traditional estimates. The model says the most likely figure is double that, at about 22 million.... (more)

NEWSMAX — Iran's economy is faltering after the U.S. pulled out of a nuclear deal earlier this year and Europeans are deciding not to do business there, said Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. The U.S. position remains not to do business with European countries that engage with Iran, and while that means European leaders such as British Prime Minister Theresa May have a decision to make, companies are already acting, Haley said in an interview airing on CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday, one of three scheduled appearances....
