Memo to K-12 students: Resist
Bruce Deitrick Price

September 10, 2018
WES VERNON — In the last two years, America has been caught up in one of the most crisis level uproars in its "peacetime" history. The obsession of a significant movement to remove a duly-elected sitting president from office has taken us to the edge of a constitutional showdown arguably as intense as the charged environment that dogged Abraham Lincoln leading up to the Civil War.... BRUCE DEITRICK PRICE — Okay, kids, gather round the campfire. There is something you need to know. Something scary. You are a participant in a vast psychological war. Believe it or not, you are the enemy in this war. You are the primary target. Yes, they want you, your unformed personality, your uninformed mind. They want to shape you and make you so that finally you're indistinguishable from other kids. You're not supposed to know much or think much.... (more)

ROBERT KNIGHT — What is it with our ruling elites? How did they come to have so much disdain for America? Some recent events have yet again brought this unfortunate situation to the surface. Let's start with Nike, the Portland, Oregon-based sportswear megacompany. It did not become a Fortune 100 corporation by chance or careless management.... (more)

The media is determined to prove that Donald Trump is unfit to be president.
NATIONAL INTEREST — My first reaction to the anonymous anti-Trump op-ed in the New York Times was perhaps unusual for a resident of the swamp, which has been so hyper this week: I chuckled, rolled my eyes, and didn't even make it to the end of the article before losing interest.... (more)

CHARLES HURT — Just in time to remind America why voters elected Donald Trump president two years ago, ex-President Barack Obama emerged from political exile last week. Pompous, insufferable, self-enthralled, cliched and uninspiring, he picked up right where he left off. Reliving his eight-year campaign that cost over 1,000 Democrat politicians their seats, Mr. Obama put on his psychiatrist cap and declared our current politics mentally unwell.... (more)

NATIONAL REVIEW — Former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos was sentenced Friday to 14 days in jail after pleading guilty in October to misleading federal investigators. Prosecutors argued that Papadopoulos, who as part of his sentence must also pay a $9,500 fine and perform community service, withheld information that was "material" to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election, though Trump and his allies have cast the former aide as a low-level "coffee boy" with no real influence or access to the candidate.... JUDI CALER — 2018 proved to be a horrible legislative year for the Article V convention lobby. It measures its success by the number of State Legislatures it cajoles into passing applications asking Congress to call a constitutional convention (con-con) pursuant to Article V of the U.S. Constitution.... STUDY FINDS — For some, it's the best four years of their lives. For others, it's a period of constant struggle, whether academically, socially, or both. College brings about new experiences and challenges for young adults that can be difficult to adapt to and overcome, so perhaps it's no surprise that a new study reports high rates of stress and mental health conditions among students.... WIRED.COM — Apple prides itself on prioritizing user security and privacy. It counts the iOS and Mac App Stores, where customers can download an array of trusted, vetted software, as cornerstones of that initiative. But while the approach does minimize situations where users get tricked into downloading something nasty on the open web, malware inevitably slips through. In this case, that appears to include one of the most popular offerings in the Mac App Store.... (more)

NEWSMAX — A 2006 letter from a top Vatican official confirms that the Holy See received information in 2000 about the sexual misconduct of now-resigned cardinal in the United States, lending credibility to bombshell accusations of cover-up at the highest echelons of the Catholic Church.... (more)

WES VERNON — Public commentary on John McCain's death cries out for balance. The senator whose departure from this planet left behind six or seven days of unremitting and un-contradicted public praise that -- on TV seemingly deemed him as worthy of the highest level of sainthood. Granted caution, decent respect for the plus side of his legacy cannot be ignored. And it wasn't.... (more)

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON — Using funerals for political purposes has a long, but not distinguished, tradition. In 44 B.C. eulogist Mark Antony claimed to Roman mourners that he came to bury Caesar. But his speech created a frenzy and ended up ensuring a death warrant for the once "honorable" Brutus. In contrast, aside from the commemoration of the dead, Americans mostly have seen funerals as solemn reminders of how frail and transitory life is for all of us, and how our shared fates should unite even the bitterest of enemies.... JOSEPH FARAH — If Dinesh D'Souza went to jail for a trivial campaign finance violation that might have warranted a small fine, what should the Federal Elections Commission do about Google and Facebook? According to research led by Robert Epstein, a Harvard Ph.D. in psychology, in conjunction with the apolitical, nonpartisan American Institute of Behavioral Research and Technology, Google and Facebook are in a position to swing 12 million votes in the 2018 midterm elections due to their overwhelming pro-Democrat bias demonstrated in their virtual monopoly dominance of search and social media platforms. Does that scare you like it scares me?... (more)
