WASHINGTON TIMES Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Wednesday the Justice Department would not partner with groups that discriminate against or defame others, singling out the Southern Poverty Law Center for its "hate group" campaign. The attorney general, speaking at the Alliance Defending Freedom Summit on Religious Liberty, accused the SPLC of wielding the "hate" designation as a "weapon ... against conservative organizations that refuse to accept their orthodoxy and choose instead to speak their conscience."... BYRON YORK Emails in 2016 between former British spy Christopher Steele and Justice Department official Bruce Ohr suggest Steele was deeply concerned about the legal status of a Putin-linked Russian oligarch, and at times seemed to be advocating on the oligarch's behalf, in the same time period Steele worked on collecting the Russia-related allegations against Donald Trump that came to be known as the Trump dossier. The emails show Steele and Ohr were in frequent contact, that they intermingled talk about Steele's research and the oligarch's affairs, and that Glenn Simpson, head of the dirt-digging group Fusion GPS that hired Steele to compile the dossier, was also part of the ongoing conversation.... GINA MILLER Dinesh D'Souza's latest film, "Death of a Nation," is another home run. We saw it this past Saturday in its opening weekend. It is outstanding and current, as all of his films are. In it, Mr. D'Souza presents the truth behind the Big Lies of the commie/fascist/Nazi/Ku Klux Klan/Democrat/"Progressive" collective with his in-depth research, interviews, and high-quality historical reenactments by actors who look impressively like the people they're portraying.... Joseph Farah slams Digital Cartel making 1st Amendment null and void
JOSEPH FARAH I've been warning everyone who would listen about the greatest threat to freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of religion in America today. It's not government. Instead, the overt attack on America's First Amendment comes from the corporate behemoth new media gatekeepers who are in ideological lockstep with each other

WASHINGTON TIMES The 62-year-old Chinese shopkeeper had waited nearly his entire adult life to see his dream of building a church come true - a brick house with a sunny courtyard and spacious hall with room for 200 believers. But in March, about a dozen police officers and local officials suddenly showed up at the church on his property and made the frightened congregants disperse. They ordered that the cross, a painting of the Last Supper and Bible verse calligraphy be taken down. And they demanded that all services stop until each person, along with the church itself, was registered with the government, said the shopkeeper, Guo.... (more)

MICHAEL OBERNDORF Once upon a time, boys and girls, there was a country, unique in the world and in history, where the people were not subjects of the whims and delusional rule of tyrannical kings and other potentates, but lived free under the Rule of Law, laid out in a constitution written by the People themselves. It clearly enumerated the powers they granted to the government, not the other way 'round. It also listed (and guaranteed) rights granted to them by God, not by government, and thus "unalienable."... BRUCE DEITRICK PRICE No less an authority than Robert Sweet, President of the National Right to Read Foundation (NRRF), said there are a dozen good phonics programs and which one is best doesn't matter that much. This answer is reassuring; it furthers my resolve not to pretend I know which one is best. My goal is to make sure everyone understands why phonics is superior, and that phonics offers a lot of variety and creativity.... (more)

WESLEY PRUDEN Donald Trump's critics have made a wonderful contribution to our golden age of letters. But who could have guessed that this glorious abundance of creative writing would be found in political commentary? The president's detractors compete to be the first to describe how he finally comes a cropper, with his carcass nailed to the barn door by Robert Mueller, who was commissioned to find the evidence of collusion with the Russians. Everybody knows the evidence is so abundant a child could find it.... (more)

'These policies are deliberately unclear as well as political'
WASHINGTON TIMES Ben Shapiro may consider InfoWars is a "dumpster fire," but he still says Apple, Facebook, and YouTube were wrong to ban the channel from their platforms. The editor in chief of The Daily Wire told readers on Monday that the swift termination from InfoWars from major social-media platforms is a sterling example of "the political Left" in action. His take: Purposefully ambiguous guidelines allow companies to target anyone they choose at will under the guise of combating "hate speech."... (more)
