WES VERNON — The fate of this nation, as some of us see it, now depends (some would say perilously so) on the outcome of the vote in several states in upcoming elections. The makeup of the next Congress, plus governorships and legislatures on state levels, will be determined in the years ahead. Much of this drama has erupted largely through the banana republic-like tactics of an angry effort to gin up a revolutionary-appearing attempt to foment a "silent coup," whose endgame is to bring down a duly-elected President of the United States.... CLIFF KINCAID — Rush Limbaugh has interviewed former prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy about how Robert S. Mueller's Russia-gate investigation has turned out so badly for President Trump and his associates. That's funny. Back in May, McCarthy, a former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, wrote an article for National Review appearing under the headline, "Robert Mueller: A Solid Choice for Trump-Russia Investigation 'Special Counsel.'"... DEFENSE ONE — In 2014, the sensor-studded plane demonstrated an ability to track missiles, leading to a "tactically significant" improvement in targeting. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., raised more than a few eyebrows (and drew a few rolled eyes) when he suggested in November that the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter could intercept North Korean missiles headed for the United States. Hunter cited analysis from Los Alamos National Labs and other sources, according to Inside Defense.... (more)

BREITBART — In his defiant resignation speech late Thursday morning, disgraced U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) proclaimed himself the victim and blamed his fall from grace on the hurling of false accusations of sexual misconduct against him. The only responsibility the belligerent and noticeably angry Franken seemed to want to accept is that "in responding to their claims, I also wanted to be respectful of that broader conversation[.]"... BYRON YORK — It's been ten months since Washington learned that former British spy Christopher Steele, author of the so-called "Trump dossier," took the Hillary Clinton-funded opposition research document to the FBI, which considered sponsoring the anti-Trump work at the height of the 2016 presidential campaign. Now, congressional investigators have made what is perhaps an even more consequential discovery: Knowledge of the dossier project, during the campaign, extended into the highest levels of the Obama Justice Department.... ANDREW C. MCCARTHY — Jihadists, the tip of the sharia-supremacist spear, rationalize mass murder by denying the humanity of their enemies: Their doctrine teaches that non-Muslims are less than fully human and that their existence while refusing to accept Allah's law is offensive. In the same way, Islamists, the broader population of sharia supremacists, rationalize the destruction of their perceived enemies, Israel in particular, by denying the reality of their legitimate existence.... WASHINGTON TIMES — A Stanford University professor's defamation lawsuit in defense of his green energy research has raised the temperature on the climate change debate, fueling fears that such a precedent could put a chill on scientific inquiry. In 2015, Mark Z. Jacobson, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, did a study that said U.S. power demands could be met with 100 percent non-nuclear renewable energy by 2050.... (more)
