Poor man's politics and the Bible
By Marita Vargas
This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to plant his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots. And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work. He will take the tenth of your sheep; and ye shall be his servants. And ye shall cry out on that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen for yourselves; and the Lord will not hear you in that day. (I Samuel 8:11-18)
The rich have a nasty habit of coveting a poor man's lands, his wife, his daughters and his children — that is of coveting everything — as the recent passage of national health care demonstrates. And though the connection isn't obvious to everyone, a short tour through key biblical passages should bring out the main lines of the argument.
The passage from I Samuel quoted above reminds us that the chief role of the king (of government) is to take what he (it) wants for his (its) own purposes. Now that describes Nancy Pelosi exactly.
The king whose envious eye falls on the meager holdings of a poor man is a menace to the community because he has nothing to restrain him from taking what he wants. But back in biblical days a covetous king who transgressed against a poor man by stealing his land, his wife, his daughters or his children fell under the judgment of God — whether he was an Ahab or a David.
And the only hope for long-term peace between the ruler and the ruled was a covenant between them, a vow, a contract, a constitution, symbolizing that the two parties subscribed to the same principles and believed that each was responsible to God.
Times have changed, kings haven't. They go by other names and wield power by different means, but few of them believe that they will render an account to God, and at least one of them we could name would prefer to rule over people who have stopped "clinging to their guns and religion."
Today the "king" joins congress; congress functions as an oligarchy, the oligarchy grants its members cover for the evil it carries out; and the people are left pulling the levers of power that no longer work. Some of the people are fooled because the oligarchy has promised to play Robin Hood, but it is just playing robber. All of the people however are left playing the oppressed.
Our modern oligarchies are much harder to fight than a corrupt king. A corrupt king never thought to take everything. Our modern rulers have taken everything. They have taken our land through regulation (strangulation) and centralized control; the wives of the land through playing substitute father under the guise of social welfare and no-fault divorce; the daughters through sex education and abortion access; and all the children through public schooling and population control.
They have just taken our souls, through universal healthcare. When the steely hand of the law determines the time of your last breath whether the Holy Spirit has finished his work in you or not you have just become the victim of the ultimate theft.
It certainly seems like a good time to cling to our religion as never before.
In Micah we read: "Who is a God like unto thee, that pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retains not his anger forever, because he delights in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea." (Micah 6:18-19)
Dear Americans: The above is the best offer we will ever get; it is the only way out of our present dilemma. We have everything to gain as a nation by returning to God. Everything.
The first thing that we should pray for is the return of Godly fatherhood. Men have abdicated their role to act as protectors and spiritual leaders in their families. What else can you call it when fathers will not act to protect their daughters from obtaining an abortion in secrecy during school hours?
What would you call it when a man goes to the ballot box and declines his right to be notified that his minor daughter is pregnant and has requested school personnel to help her obtain an abortion without his knowledge? This very thing has happened three times in California. Any man out there who voted against parental notification of a minor child's request for abortion has admitted that he does not want to be a man and a father.
But what he has failed to realize is that in sacrificing his daughter to the machinery of government, he has also surrendered his right to self-determination and freedom and emboldened those who would strip him of every dignity. Is it any wonder that our society is dying?
Gentlemen, let us take a couple of lessons or two from history. Just why was the quartering of troops so reprehensible to the American colonists? It was reprehensible because a man who sought to defend his wife and daughters from being raped at the hands of the soldier in his home would be killed. Men, real men, refused to allow the perpetuation of this heinous institution.
This predatory practice on the part of the powerful broke the French Huguenots. It is a brutal and ruinous practice. Remember it.
Further, the Russians who occupied the Eastern Block countries proceeded in the same way. For half a century the women suffered degradation at the hands of their captors.
Now, I know that you've all seen Braveheart. It is a fictionalized treatment of the much disputed right of prima nocta, a right that adds up to ethnic cleansing. And to dispute its historicity, should not mean that we turn away from the historical desire of the rich and powerful to control the procreative power of the masses. Just as the Samaritans of old (small in number today) were the product of an inter-marrying campaign that meant to erase their identities as Jews — leaders through the ages have sought to eliminate undesirables by attacking the young, in one way or another.[1]
Don't think our young are any exception. Pharaoh never tires of his schemes. Today the name that our modern day pharaohs give to ethnic cleansing is reproductive freedom; but it is really a program of eugenics, the "healthful" breeding of the human being guided and directed by the scientifically enlightened. The scientifically enlightened are the new shape of the American oligarchy. A review of our president's appointees and czars should make this clear. But perhaps all you need to know is that the new health care bill has the potential of increasing abortions and the newer executive order has no power to stop them.
In plain language: If a government agency can inspire a young girl to a life of sexual experimentation and then proceed to abort her baby in the name of education; and if a government can desensitize women to abortion by means of making it available through massive funding and legal sanction; and if a panel of doctors can advise for abortion in the name of genetic defects and birth quotas and racial make-up; and if the system can withhold monies or care for women who wish to continue a pregnancy; and if doctors who might revolt against such a regime have been stripped of conscience protections; and if funds set aside for sustaining (Social Security) and healing (Medicare) the elderly are raided in the name of universal access; and if the politicians who might block the widespread implementation of such a program hide behind the meaningless gesture of Pharaoh himself — then the government has just developed a program of ethnic cleansing, or genocide, or de-population; or if you prefer, of socialized medicine.
Why has the government done this? Out of envy, of course. The poor might breed too much and need too much and prey too much on the poor little rich oligarch's terrain, stripping life of all joy and meaning and ruining the quality of life. We are told that arguments similar to this were used against members of congress to gain passage of national healthcare.
Fathers, you are the linchpin in reversing the hell that is upon us. You are the ones of whom the prophet Malachi wrote: "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. (Malachi 4: 6)
Elijah has come. He has proclaimed God's warning.
John the Baptist has come. He has proclaimed the Kingdom of God. Christ Jesus has come. He has proclaimed God's salvation.
If we are to escape the spirit of this world, we must be willing to cry out to God. If it is not too late, if we are not living through a time of judgment, we will find that God is a more merciful king than our current underlords.
