Donald Trump: the patriot asks not
By David R. Usher
In his 1961 Inaugural address, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed the instantly famous words "ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country."
This sounded tremendously patriotic in the midst of the surly cold war with the Soviet Union and the looming Cuban missile crisis. Unfortunately, many World War II and Korean War veterans did not notice the next paragraph of Kennedy's address announcing "a new alliance for progress – to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty."
Kennedy declared, "If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich." We have heard this before in Karl Marx's credo "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."
Kennedy redefined freedom and patriotism to mean altruistic submission to government pursuit of Marxist agenda – which soon became Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" over vociferous objection by leading Republicans and social economists.
Fifty-five years of "Great Society" later our economy is in a shambles. We have the highest taxes in the free world, record welfare spending, an economy treading water, and twenty-trillion dollars of national debt. The war on poverty resulted in poverty rates higher than they were in 1959. The $22-trillion spent is greater than the national debt. The War on Poverty won nothing, but bought exploding divorce rates, illegitimacy rates, and a lot of human suffering.
Enter Donald Trump, Who spent thirteen years between 1999 and 2012 bouncing between various parties looking for a President capable of rebuilding America. He was like the rest of us – following political lips that usually go a different direction than political feet.
Romney's pitiful loss in 2012 was the last straw. He realized that the best man for the Presidency was standing in his shoes all along.
Donald Trump is a true patriot. He knows that Patriotism is selfish in nature. American patriots engage to ensure the safety and security of our individual families, liberty, prosperity, including the individual rights of religion, property, and Constitution. Our personal sense of patriotism is far different from the goose-stepping subservient model practiced by Chairman Mao and Hitler. Alexis de Tocqueville understood this truth in his observations of America's unique culture: "A man comprehends the influence which the well-being of his country has upon his own; he is aware that the laws permit him to contribute to that prosperity, and he labors to promote it, first because it benefits him, and secondly because it is in part his own work."
During his entire campaign, Donald Trump never asked Americans to sacrifice anything. He sacrificed $56-million of his own money to beat the Republican and Democrat Globalist Establishments. He was viciously attacked from all sides and had few friends outside the intelligent grassroots until Conservative Icon Phyllis Schlafly endorsed him on March 11th, 2016. The Republican Party was forced to take him seriously from that day forward.
Mr. Trump's true patriot colors are contained in his Contract With The American Voter, which states what he will do to free America from globalist Kingmakers and massive beltway corruption. The only thing he asked us to do is to pitch in Making America Great Again for ourselves.
President Trump will secure our geographic, monetary, economic, social, religious, and political borders. He will shrink poverty by bringing jobs back to America so that poor Americans can exit the plantation of poverty, crime, and drugs.
I believe that Trump's business plan will work beautifully. Most low-income Americans are sick and tired of treading water in dangerous cities where the only way to survive is welfare, drugs, and crime. Even the poor have a dream of owning a decent home with a picket fence and two cats in the yard. This is still the American Dream. Most will work to get it when reliable working-class jobs are available again.
Trump's policy will rebuild the great middle class destroyed by over fifty years of Democrat policy. The contented middle class of the 1960's will be rebuilt, but now consist of a married mother and father with 1.5 average incomes supporting and caring for one household.
Our supply-side socioeconomic model says that more workers and more marriage means less spending on welfare, education problems, crime, and prisons – which will be replaced by increased tax receipts. Turning expenses into the tax receipts is a double bonus that will make a balanced budget possible for the first time in this millennium.
My supply-side socioeconomics model predicts why Trump's policies will work: Marriage is half of the economy, but disappears without jobs. Marriage forms the stable, motivated, educated work force necessary for successful businesses, a thriving economy and low taxes. We either have more reliable private-sector jobs and businesses accompanied by more marriage, or more failed big government.
The future is now ours for the asking. Let us seize the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity created by Donald Trump, and succeed together by the grace of God.
