Elections have consequences...So?
By Sylvia Thompson
My question is, do we allow the destruction of a nation because "elections have consequences"? Do we assume that the portion of the electorate who installed the current Stasi-esque administration expected that the nation would be under threat of destruction as a result of their vote? I do not think so. Were many of these voters not under the spell of political correctness, white guilt, complete despair over the dearth of quality leadership in general? I do think so.
Couple these facts with the massive degree of ignorance among the American populace about the aims of the liberal left and the media's role in maintaining that ignorance, I'd say it matters not one tinker's damn why anti-American operatives are now in power, but rather what is to be done about it.
The useless assessment that elections have consequences seems to have eroded our sanity. Given the goals of this administration and the liberal left that props it up, why would any nation that wishes to survive allow those goals to reach fruition? This question has puzzled me for quite some time.
With every infraction against the Constitution, with every law ignored to advance the leftist agenda, this nation moves closer and closer to civil eruption. As commentators, politicians, bloggers, and many others identify the problems that plague our nation, as a direct or indirect result of Obama's actions, every-day folk are beginning to tune them out. I also have begun to tune out statements of the problem in search of statements of viable solutions.
What will not work, I feel certain, is a continuation of looking upon Obama as just one in a long line of Presidents. He is not, and dealing with him as such is why he has been able to cause such massive destruction. True, we are sorely lacking moral leadership in any form of opposition. And such leadership is crucial for taking on villainous behavior in top government officials: in the administration, the Congress, and the Supreme Court. Barring such moral, oppositional leadership, people tend to do whatever is necessary to protect themselves.
We have reached a point where the two opposing forces that drive the nation, the liberal left and the conservative right, cannot lead together, as the Founders envisioned. The two forces are at opposite ends of the spectrum, meaning, compromise would entail ignoring core principles. The liberal left has no principles that cannot be shifted at whim. Conservatives, on the other hand, many of whom are God-directed, cannot in good faith abandon their principles, regardless of national whim or their own.
Elitist Republican leaders who consistently abandon principles to "get along" are not conservative. They have capitulated often, and are quite ready to capitulate more. That is not the thinking, however, of a vast swath of Americans who are conservative. Those Americans are feeling the brunt of Obama's and Eric Holder's pernicious policies. They know that the government is purposely working against them, and they can see clearly what the future holds.
The last time America was at this type of crossroad was during the split on the question of slavery. A nation could not extol freedom and oversee the institution of slavery at the same time. Sides were chosen, lines were drawn, and we know the outcome.
America is again at a similar crossroad. A godless, perverse, tyrannical nation is not what a majority of Americans will long tolerate. A free people cannot live under the yoke of an enslaving government. Where this nation will go, I frankly do not know. Others who have their hands on the pulse of circumstances may know, and may be preparing for what could become inevitable. One thing we do know, however, is that corrupt power is seldom relinquished peacefully. Our situation has gone well beyond elections and politics. It is now a matter of survival.
