'He disliked Trump, as every reasonable person does,' says Oran Routh. 'He’s a great dude, a nice guy….' Oran, get a dictionary

Oran Routh, if you have not learned by now is the son of Ryan Routh , Donald Trump’s latest would be assassin. Now, I wasn’t an English major, but I do own a dictionary, a few of them. Some old one ones. A copy of the original one. The one that correctly defined words like vaccine. Maybe even the word “reasonable” (having sound judgment; fair and sensible…. Decided by who? Oran Routh?) Reasonable, according to my 1828 Webster’s dictionary, includes the following: indubitable certainty, that which does not admit of any cause of doubting. Hum, what was the gold standard for in “indubitable” 1828? The Bible anyone? Webster stated: “The Bible should be the standard of language.” Let’s start there.

Boy, have we messed up our language. Maybe on purpose? I believe so. I write about this often. It’s a very simple equation: Just relax the use of language, definitions, use words loosely, “in a way that is not firmly or tightly fixed or held together” as Webster's explains. Everything else will fall apart. Enter our fact-checkers: “It’s sorta true. Just not exactly true.…” Fudging data to arrive at the point you want to reach. Debunked?

What’s that Scripture? “Let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' ‘No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one" (Matthew 5:37). That ol’ serpent in the Garden sorta thing. As Joseph R. Biden so eloquently once said: “You know the thing.” Yeah, that thing.

And yes, I tend to ramble. Most all comments I receive are positive. Seems that my train of thought, “relational databank,” works for most. Conversational.

Is this past weekend’s attempt on President Trump’s life the first response we know of to Kamala’s call for her supporters to attend Trump Rallies? But, before I go on, how did this guy know that Trump even made a last minute decision to play golf Sunday? And at a time unusual for him? And, what’s up with deleted social media accounts? Doesn’t our government own a $20 drone? I could lend them one if they don’t.

Just based on this weekend’s turn of events, this problem of language is again reiterated. We have no clue. We are blinded by our egos, which, unfortunately, appear to be poorly, if even, rooted in anything. We can’t even talk. Words evidently have little or no meaning. Where will that lead? I don’t believe any of us should want to know (first hand that is, not just theoretically) that answer. You probably won’t want to be there. What was that old expression? “The horse has broken down the gate and is headed for the rhubarb!” Yeah, that’s it. Out of control. Enough babbling. Here’s the point. We need to return to using words correctly, and therefore, force ourselves to become honest. Otherwise, all is lost. “Gender-affirming” surgery? Really?

“News” from the September 16 CBS online says: “Records show Routh's issues with the law go back to the 1990s and include lesser charges of writing bad checks. But in 2002, he was charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction, a felony, according to North Carolina Department of Corrections records. In another incident, he was charged with misdemeanors, including a hit-and-run offense, resisting arrest, and a concealed weapons violation… “ He also, I am hearing, was in an armed standoff with police for some 3-hours at some point in the recent past. This is the definition of a “great guy?” Grab the dictionary. Let’s learn to speak… truthfully. What exactly is “a great guy” anyway? Does it really mean anything? In this context? Just a regular guy we can all relate to?

I took the liberty of looking up the term “great guy” for a bit last night. I may be mistaken, but I didn’t find any references to writing bad checks, resisting arrest, or any of the other high-points in his bio in the definition. The Washington Post claims Routh has a “quixotic past.” Now there’s an everyday word if I ever saw one. What is “quixotic?” Quixotism is impracticality in pursuit of ideals, especially those ideals manifested by rash, lofty and romantic ideas, or extravagantly chivalrous action. It also serves to describe an idealism without regard to practicality. An impulsive person or act might be regarded as "quixotic.” I read that on Wikipedia, not exactly my first choice for information, but sufficient here I believe.”Quixotic.” Maybe “nuts” is a better definition. “Weird?”

Don’t we hear this abuse of language almost minute by minute these days? Kamala, we were informed, is just being “pragmatic” when she lies about her positions on just about every topic. We started calling it “spin” back in the mid 1980’s. But spin has gotten totally out of control, and is now another word for lying. “Spin” seems to be more of a gyration these days. Sleight-of-hand tricks. Has the definition of “insurrection” been diminished, turned into a catch-all phrase? We can’t even define what a “woman” is. But we know “insurrection” when we see it. We have lost it folks. Now you see it, now you don’t. A slippery slope if ever there was one. Unload 20,000 illegals into a small town of 60,000?

So, tell me: What exactly is the “threat to democracy” that Trump is? What is it? Some BS “spin” on the 2020 election results? Those “results” were questionable at best. Evidence squelched by halfhearted courts refusing to look in the right places for the answers? Asking for voter ID? Secure borders? Fair trade? That is a threat to democracy? It’s the very definition of democracy if you ask me.

EVs are a joke folks, at least for now. Where’s the electricity going to come from? Tell me, what ingredients make up a lithium battery? Where do these come from? Please tell me in specific terms so we can hold an actual discussion based in reality. Let’s give each other the opportunity to be specific. Not just soundbites. Address these critical points with truth. Not our “individual truths.” There is true and not true. Not true for you maybe but not for me? No. Why, because neither may actually be “true.” There is only one “true.”

And FYI: this is a Republic. “Democracy” is actually a nice sounding word for “mob action,” like those villagers in the 1931 film adaptation of Mary Shelly’s “Frankenstein” storming the castle. There’s the form of democracy the Left (aka “Democrat Party”) is working toward. Heaven help us! “Fourth-trimester abortions?” What is that? Easily redefined if you ask me. Another slippery slope on bastardized language.

In this country, we have the First Amendment. No other nation on earth offers that perspective as the foundational principle in its Bill of Rights. If they even have a “bill of rights.” Our rights were assumed to be obvious. Read some other constitutions. Have you? Not there. I have read many. Look up the nuances. Read them closely. Natural Law, from the Creator: AKA God. People are not to be herded. Some creatures herd by their nature. But they are not herded. Nobody is making them do it. Fish swim in schools by nature. No government makes them do it. Birds flock, etc. Natural law. However you want to look at it… but without that “spin” applied by the serpent in the Garden of Eden. Now there was some “spin!”

So, I have to ask what is “voice” (aka free speech) if language becomes meaningless through legalistic spin? “NewSpeak.” Did I state this well enough? How better to take away one’s “voice” than to remove any meaning from language? Equity? What a vague, misused word.

Seems we now learn the cat cooking incident may have been in Dayton, not Springfield. Merrick Garland wants “an independent Justice Department.” Wants to keep government out of… huh, what? Incompetence or malice? Or just plain lies.

And Kamala… I’m proud of my yard too.
