Foremost on the mind of most conservative, Christian, Pro-Life voters I have spoken to is the Seemingly weakened stances the Republican Platform has taken on the subject of Life and Family. Abortion and Marriage. I think President Trump sees the writing on the wall so to speak. The abortion question has, in the overturning of Roe v Wade (The Cobbs decision in 2022), been returned to the states. So, in my opinion, that should mean that the Federal Government, via the Supreme Court, has, in its wisdom, put it back into our hands. Where it should be. Now it is up to us to get it done. What, you can’t pull that off? An uphill battle for sure. But not one we can’t win. “Federal Overreach” must be turned back.
So, to the Christians out there. We learn in the Bible that the road is narrow. In the Gospel of Matthew 7: 13-14. It reads: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” So, I think that means: lots of folks are not going to be saved. You know, be in Heaven. And, as I have said in the past (as so many have said by the way), non-believers don’t believe in it anyway. (What we believe!) That’s why they are called “non-believers.” They would believe in Spiderman or the Matrix before they would believe in God, Christ or Satan. But we continue to knock our heads against the wall so to speak. Some of the more “holy-ones” among us may even say they will sit the election out in protest. Hey, that’s real smart. That’ll show them! “Two steps backward” as Bob Marley would say.
But didn’t Christ also tell us (In the KJV to make it sound really spiritual): “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.” (There are easier to decipher versions out there too.) What I heard here is: not everyone is going to even listen, much less even care what we say, feel or believe. So, move on I guess? It seems to me that there will always be (always have been) people happy to kill their babies, pretend they are people (gender?) they are not, and indulge themselves in what was referred to in the Bible as debauchery. So, as pro-life as I am, I am really not bothered by punting on this (and a couple of other hot-button issues) for now.
Bring it to the states, maybe even the counties. Like dry, alcohol free, counties. Let the people do the lifting, stand up for what they claim they believe. If you are really and truly pro-life, pro Christian values, put your money where your mouth is (no, I don’t mean in the tithe, especially if you are in a “politics-free” church), get involved. Vote in your communities for well written, pro-life legislation. The Supreme Court gave the control back to us. Act on it. Reclaim our states.
Just a few years ago, there was a small southern town I read about in which a nude club was planning to open along the interstate highway. There was an article in the paper about it. The article stated that if it did ever open, you could bet that the ladies groups from local churches would be there at night in the parking lot, writing down license numbers and publishing them. FYI: The nude Club never materialized. I believe we need to be “local” as former Speaker, Tip O’Neil (a Democrat) once said: “All politics is local.” I think that means, not the Federal Government. Get it done!
And imagine the outcome! Your state takes the ball. Passes pro-life legislation and makes it a good, well written, strong bill. Abortion in your state stops. Even on military bases and in VA hospitals. Then, you can get that mandatory, Obama induced coverage off of our healthcare insurance charges. (Remember the Little Sisters of Mercy?) People who want abortions will leave, they’ll flee. Real Estate access may even improve. People who don’t love abortion will come. You will have more like-minded friends. Your workplace will improve.
Church attendance will go up, return to being more in-tune with Scripture. Schools and curriculum will improve as will the public libraries. Drag-Queen Story Hour will no longer be the rage. The economy will get better. Taxes might even go down as a result. Your state may even no longer need the Lottery to make ends meet. The States that are pro-abortion will eventually notice your improved quality of life and ask themselves: “Is killing our babies really worth it? Those pro-life folks have nicer states to live in. Wish we could live there.” The country will come around. Regionalism, the First Amendment right to association at work. At least that’s my take on this. So don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater! (Oops, maybe I could have used a better, less-intrusive, more sensitive analogy?… Nope.)
The Liberal side of the argument is more power to a Federal Government. One that will provide early childhood care (including killing them and “changing their sex” if you like). After-school programs that include dinner, staffed with licensed “providers.” DEI workplaces. Elderly care, free cremation. You can have it all… Free! Do you remember Obama’s video commercials featuring “Julia.” Julia, according to the Washington Post: “a character drawn and focus-grouped by political consultants.”, Julia was designed to inform voters of the many great government programs Obama was instituting to make life so much better for us. If you weren’t aborted that is.
My take on all of this is simple: The table has turned. These programs are now a leviathan. Monsters in need of funding. We now exist to support them in actuality, not the other way around as we have been duped into believing. Julia had everything, thanks to government programs, for this and one for that. If you don’t remember these videos, look them up. I will warn you though, they are a bit tricky to find. The internet has a way of burying things you know. But, I’ll take my chances with lesser government control. Thank you.
It just occurred to me that rhetoric is still very much alive and well. Remember: ”You'll own nothing and you'll be happy" Originally placed into the record of recorded history by the Danish politician Ida Auken in a 2016 video by the World Economic Forum. Hummm…. I wonder what that means. I know, let’s look it up in Wikipedia. Wikipedia tells us this is a quote that has been “used by critics who accuse the WEF of desiring restrictions on ownership of private property.” Oh, I'm glad they cleared that up for me. And I thought it meant what it said. Sorta like how “Death to America, death to Israel” doesn’t really mean that either?
It’s the old “A journey of a hundred miles starts with one footstep” thing. Really, this is a huge country. Working at the state level is really far more doable. But do this fast before the abortionists have the same idea and you wake up one day in a place you don’t recognize because you couldn’t see past the pew in front of you.
