Maryland sheriff warns of terror cells in America

Chuck Jenkins, the tough-talking sheriff of Frederick County, Maryland, told a candlelight vigil in support of the victims of the terrorism in Israel that he fears a wave of crime and violence is being planned for the United States by “terror cells” and foreign criminal gangs already on American soil.

It is all part of an “orchestrated effort” to destroy America, Sheriff Jenkins said. “I believe this is very orchestrated, very calculated.”

(Note: One day later on Tuesday, October 8, the Justice Department announced charges against “a citizen of Afghanistan residing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for conspiring to conduct an Election Day terrorist attack in the United States on behalf of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization.”)

The October 7 vigil was for the purpose of remembering the 1,200 victims of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and the more than 100 hostages still held by the group in Gaza. Several police cars and officers were on hand to protect the crowd from any hostile actions.

While remembering the victims and praising the government of Israel for its response to the attack, Jenkins said the American people must understand they are facing a similar threat here at home.

America is not prepared for the brutality, the violence, that is coming across the border into the country,” he said. “Law enforcement is not prepared, the Justice system is not prepared, and Americans are not going to accept this.”

Although he didn’t say who was behind the campaign to destroy America and didn’t want to talk politics during the solemn occasion, featuring the lighting of candles and singing of American and Israeli national anthems, it is a fact that Jenkins has assisted in the round-up of illegal aliens and for that reason became a known target of the Biden/Harris administration.

A very popular lawman, he was first elected in 2006.

“He staked out an aggressive stance on detaining undocumented immigrants who are charged with crimes, which made him a national voice on that debate while sharpening opinions of him at home,” conceded the liberal Washington Post.

Jenkins was indicted by a Biden-nominated U.S. attorney, Erek Barron, and has been forced to defend himself in court over charges involving paperwork problems regarding the possession of certain guns by his office.

Barron used to work for Obama Attorney General Eric Holder, implicated in the “Fast & Furious” gun-running scandal involving weapons transfers to the Mexican drug cartels. The Republican Congress found Holder in contempt for refusing to comply with its demands for documents concerning his role in this scandal. He thumbed his nose at the GOP.

“The same Islamic extremists that are trying to destroy Israel are now in this country and will try to destroy us,” Jenkins declared at the ceremony remembering the victims of the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks.

As he exposed the Islamist threat, Jenkins said a violent Venezuelan gang has also entered the United States, wreaking havoc through brutality and intimidation, trying to take over American cities, “and we have done nothing to try to stop it,” he said.

The sheriff, who has a policy of cooperating with federal authorities to deport criminal illegal aliens, said he has learned that members of radical terrorist groups are being released into “all the corners of our country.”

“For three and a half years we have left our borders wide open for millions of illegal aliens,” including not only radical Islamists, but drug cartels, transnational criminal gangs, and human traffickers, he noted.

Jenkins drew what he called “disturbing similarities” between Israel and the United States, because of the open border policies of the Biden/Harris administration.

He said “the same forces out to destroy Israel” have been “invited” into the United States.

Like Israel, the United States is in a fight for its survival, he said, but is now in a “weak” position to defend itself while “we’re at the doorstep of a world war in the Middle East.”

“We aren’t protecting Americans on our own soil from potential terrorist attacks, violence from criminal gangs [and] cartels and terror cells….”

The Jenkins candlelight vigil was hosted by Alexandra Levine, a Trump-supporting Jewish American conservative who pleaded with participants at the event to educate their fellow citizens about the anti-Israel orientation of members of the Democratic Party.

The event was co-hosted by Fred Propheter, president of the Frederick County Conservative Club, who also spoke in support of Israel.

Republican congressional candidate Neil Parrott spoke as well.

Jenkins said he had attended the National Sheriffs’ Association conference in February and watched a film of the barbaric attack on Israel recorded by the Hamas terrorists themselves through captured bodycam footage and security cameras on the scene.

The footage showed beheadings, executions, brutal murders of all forms, burnings of live people, and rapes of hundreds of women, “as they lay beside the corpses of family.”

He said he had never seen anything so brutal, sickening, and shocking.

As the 50 or so assembled sheriffs were watching the Hamas footage, Jenkins said many of them, with 30 or more years of experience in law enforcement, got up and walked out of the room, nauseous from what they had seen.

“Yet these atrocities were committed in front of family members who were still alive watching,” he said. “There is nothing worse than what I saw that day.”

He said corpses and live human beings were taken to Gaza by the terrorists and dragged through the streets “while women and children cheered.”

America and Israel are allies in this confrontation, he said. “This is a civilizational battle,” the sheriff continued. “We’re fighting the same evil, the same enemy.”

Addressing the attempts by the Biden/Harris administration to limit how Israel defends itself, Jenkins said the U.S. should not be questioning the means or the military strategy of the Netanyahu government.

Harris has demanded a ceasefire in the conflict, which means the absence of total victory by Israel, and the establishment of an Islamist Palestinian state on a permanent basis next to Israel, from which another massacre could be staged.

In America today, however, Jenkins emphasized, the American people are already under attack, with women and girls being targeted and assaulted and brutally murdered by the criminal illegal aliens.

“Criminals from the most violent countries in the world are entering our country,” he said.

“This is all preventable,” he added, in the context of asserting this is a policy that is being “orchestrated” at the highest levels of the U.S. Government.
