The fact that political leaders traditionally sent messages of condolences offering their “thoughts and prayers” to victims and their families. Such innocent expressions of comfort have enraged liberals who claim the idea of prayer especially in times of a shooting is meaningless. Even prayer can be politicized as some protesters have resorted to “shaming prayer.” (Prayer Shaming: A New Front in the Culture War, John Horvat II, Return To Order)
Why do so-called ‘scientifically enlightened’ progressive liberals ridicule and shame prayer? The answer lies in their view of reality.
Christian Reality
If you are an orthodox Christian then Reality is the Holy Triune Creator, the uncreated, eternally existing one true God (Reality) Who spoke creation (created reality) into existence. Orthodox Christians therefore know and accept that humans are His creatures, His image bearers, and that He loves them and hears their prayers, praise, and petitions and responds in His own time and way.
Godless Reality
“Reality is an idol conceptualized by men and demons” Psalm 135:15.
Throughout the post-Christian West and here in the USA, Christian beliefs have finally been scrubbed clean from the minds of men and they docilely accept (from Globalist god-men and their systematizers) a dehumanizing ideology about themselves and reality (reality can’t create, think, speak, move, or hear them so prayers are a useless folly). Believing their scientific worldview is superior to backwards Christian beliefs, they docilely submit to a dehumanizing ideology on the order of the occult scientific quasi-Buddhist, Hermetic, and pagan animistic Marxist system:

Marxism is but one of many modern scientistic ideologies that reduce the human being to a soulless aspect of nature. Like the other systems, Marxism begins its process of social engineering by teaching humans that they are the product of evolution working on matter, thereby allowing them to be deconstructed and depersonalized. In this way the sense of their individual souls, intellect, free will, and conscience eventually fade to black since all four are shown by 'science' to be illusions.
Social engineering allows the New Man to imagine he is a bio-machine or hominid rather than the image bearer of the Triune Creator. This allows the New Man to sink into passive slavery to instincts and passions. In short, since the New Man has no real choice, whatever harm he does to others can never be his fault since ' science' has liberated the New Man from the burden of moral choice between good and evil. In this way, the New Man can fully enjoy his earthly rewards as a slave within a deterministic system of cause and effect unless truth and reality invade his collective darkness. Far from redeeming the New Man, social engineering has but brought back the Old Man of 2 Tim. 3:3.” (1)
So when these endarkened, dehumanized lost souls scoff, mock and ridicule you for praying to our Lord Jesus Christ, pity them, for they are slaves, and pray for the redemption of the souls they disbelieve in.
