Political correctness: public advocacy of vice

Robert Reilly, chairman of the Committee for Western Civilization, observes that for any individual, moral failure is hard to live with because of the rebuke of conscience. Habitual moral failure, or vice or sin, can only be lived with by obliterating conscience through rationalization. Thus the door of the conscience is systematically forced open wider and wider by rationalization until the point is reached where the advocate of vice proudly tolerates every manner of abomination, thereby allowing evils to occur constantly and for whatever reason:

"Your conscience is the part of you which embraces what is good and which rejects evil. It is like the doorkeeper of a house which is open to friends and closed to enemies." (Hilary of Arles, Ancient Christian Devotional, p. 127)

Rationalization is a defense mechanism, a form of self-deception that compromises and pollutes conscience so as to make tolerable and acceptable thoughts, motives, feelings, and behaviors that would otherwise be unacceptable. Thus when habitual sinners rationalize, they convince themselves that forbidden idolatry, lies, murder, theft, gross sexual fantasies, and other perverse desires and actions are permissible:

" We advance the reality of the desires over the reality of the moral order to which the desires should be subordinated. In our minds we replace the reality of moral order with something more congenial to the activity we are excusing. In short, we assert that bad is good." (Culture of Vice, Robert Reilly, Orthodoxy Today)

Rationalization of evil, or political correctness as it is called, is the wisdom of fallen man. It is earthly, natural, and demonic:

"For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy." James 3:15-17

When a bad person habitually deceives himself and others, his conscience becomes seared, thereby allowing his harmful or destructive thoughts and behaviors to become justified in his mind. In this way he becomes a self-convinced, zealously indefatigable public advocate of his own moral failures, ill will, envy, greed, and other myriad vices. Three examples of this are progressive advocacy of sodomy as 'love' deserving rights – even within the church, trans-genderism with its' advocacy of fluid gender, and the unflagging advocacy of so-called global climate change:

"Climate change is real. Not only is it real, it's here, and its effects are giving rise to a frighteningly new global phenomenon: the man-made natural disaster." Barack Obama

"We've got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy." Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation

Over and across America, the unrelenting and determined power of rationalization of evil drives secular progressivism's aggressive war against the Biblically grounded foundations of our nearly dead Constitutional Republic; gives it its demonically revolutionary character and makes its hostile advocates relentless in their pursuit of and advocacy for evil:

"...in such places, evil is commended, praised, and well-thought-of. Those who do it are applauded..." (Journey to Hell, John Bunyan, p. 80)

Rationalization in the guise of progressive politics, evolution as scientific fact, global change, environmental justice, gender justice and economic justice may draw its energy from desperation, furious bitterness, jealousy, covetousness and envy but is all the more powerful and tireless for that.

Since failed rationalization means self-recrimination, it must be avoided no matter the cost – to babies, children, adults, and entire civilizations. For this reason, the myriad vices being forced upon our culture are not subject to reasoned discourse because 'all vile persons' love their vices:

"...but they do not care to bear their names. The drunkard loves the sin, but does not love to be called a drunkard. The thief loves to steal, but he cannot stand to be called a thief; the whore loves to commit immorality, but does not love to be called a whore. And so Mr. Badman loved to be proud, but could not tolerate being called a proud man. The fragrance of sin is desirable, but it pollutes and corrupts a man. To name a man's sin is to put a blot on his honor." (Bunyan, p.159)

Advocates of vice are not interested in finding objective truth but in maintaining the deceptions that allow them to continue their lies, vile behaviors and destructive agendas. For them to succeed in this, everyone must submit to their rationalizations or be destroyed by way of demonization – public shaming issuing in baseless accusations of hatred, bigotry, homophobia, and insanity. This is why revolutionary change is required:

"The necessity for self-justification requires the complicity of the whole culture. Holdouts cannot be tolerated because they are potential rebukes. The self-hatred, anger, and guilt that a person possessed of a functioning conscience would normally feel from doing wrong are redirected by the rationalization and projected upon society as a whole (if the society is healthy), or upon those in society who do not accept the rationalization. " (Reilly)

And so it must be. If a bad man is going to center his public life on lies, pederasty, beheading aborted babies and selling their body parts or seizing control of all wealth and resources in order to refuse them to hated, envied "others" he had better transform his failures and evil intentions into highly virtuous intentions and moral acts.

America is collapsing because though a society can withstand any number of bad people who try to advance their own moral disorders as public policy,

" ... it cannot survive once it adopts the justification for those moral disorders as its own. This is what is at stake in the culture war. " (Robert Reilly, chairman of the Committee for Western Civilization)
