In the last 12 months, most of the American public have received stimulus payments. Remember, we're getting back our own money taxed by the federal government. I have a better idea. Stop taxing us. We keep our money.
Right now thousands and thousands of people are calling IRS customer service representatives asking, "Where's my stimulus money?" Even prisoners are calling in.
You can argue all day whose money it really is. I can tell who's money it's not: the federal government's (or the state and local governments for that matter)!
What does all this mean? People are now getting paid as much (if not more) not to work. Certain job positions are now hard to fill. It's more profitable to get paid not to work than to work. Can you blame them? Right now there seems to be a fourth stimulus payment in the works. I've checked on line. I found nothing official at IRS.GOV (*) as yet (don't belief everything you read in the newspapers).
It really makes me think: Why am I working? I can make almost as much not to work. I can end much of work-related stress along with all the office politics. So, it begs the question to me and you. Why am I working?
