Message to the GOP candidates
By Armand C. Hale
To the 2012 GOP Presidential Candidates, I have a clear message from a voter. This is the same one who put you in the Congress. You did not put yourselves there. The message..."Do not chew on each other during debates or in the press!" I repeat, "not at all." I say this as today's political environment demands a different approach to winning the nomination. In the past, candidates would criticize, cajole, point out weaknesses, run negative campaigns, etc, etc., just to try and get themselves a bit more ahead of the other candidates.
But note this. For the 2012 campaign, the stakes are too high to use this approach! It is imperative you all keep your eye on the prize; "to defeat the current incumbent." The American people will select who they believe is best suited to win. When you waste precious time beating up on each other, the incumbent sits on his "throne" and laughs. For while you are chewing up each other, he is able to continue to put his self out there with no challenges at all. He will watch you all spin like a hamster going no where fast on its running wheel. As time runs down for the GOP candidates...it works to his favor. This is his strong point as incumbent. It can also be his Achilles' heel. If you approach it right, you can use this to make your point.
To the GOP candidates; keep the issues out in front and constantly remind the American people right up to "election" on what this incumbent has done:
Spent 4 Trillion plus taxpayer dollars on liberal spending programs driving our debt to an all time high...ever.., monopolized the health care industry forcing Americans to buy "government health care" while allowing certain groups like Obama's cronies to "opt out of Obama Care" through the HHS department. The government can't balance its own books and you want them screwing around inside your pancreas? Unemployment continues to rise as he touts the imaginary success of his programs. He has his U.S. attorney general sue the states of Arizona & Georgia for actually enforcing the country's own immigration laws. Weakening our 1st and 2nd amendment rights and to redefine marriage on a national scale. And when Christians speak out on what is right and wrong like abortion and homosexual acts in public, we are labeled as anarchists, homophobic and terrorists. The stock markets are losing points by 500+. And let us not forget he was at the helm of state when for the first time in American history the country lost is AAA credit rating. His spending & tax policies are the direct cause.
Right now American citizens want only one thing: Someone who can lead the country, make the hard decisions, and who doesn't take vacations while the country continues to struggle. That is your strong point and the incumbent's weak point. All of you need to come to a consensus quick! If someone is lagging behind in the polls, for the good of the people and the nation they need to drop out and support the stronger candidate. It happened in 1980 with Ronald Reagan. One by one fallen candidates quickly endorsed the stronger candidate (Reagan) and united behind him and eventually riding the wave to victory. The longer you wait to do this, the more chances slip away to soundly trounce the incumbent. That is what will lead the GOP into the victory circle for 2012. To run another campaign just like in the past will increase the chances 10 fold making the incumbent win, and win big. The country cannot afford another 2 years of failed policies let alone another 4 years of the same on top of that! Victory is in your hands. The clock is ticking. Decide now if it is important enough to change tactics and win or step aside and let someone who can. (JMJ)
