Don't make Obama upset!??? Just meekly raise the limit of the national debt???
By Michael Gaynor
Will the House Republicans stand strong or meekly go along with what would be terribly wrong?
When it comes to raising the national debt limit, Barack Obama was against it before he was for it.
And it was a lot less when Senator Obama voted NO!
As President, Obama's all for it, and without conditions. Just sign off and trust him!
This Obama flip flop comes as no surprise to those who had followed Obama and his supporters as they assiduously work at remaking America.
Thanks to "Joe the Plumber," we learned for sure that Obama is really a "share the wealth guy."
We know from video that he ultimately wants a single payer health plan and he's working his way toward it as fast as he can and stalling on review of the constitutionality of Obamacare by the United States Supreme Court.
Fortunately, Obama sometimes speaks extemporaneously to supporters, not realizing that he is being recorded, and does things like denigrate Americans for "clinging" to "God" and "guns."
That's the real Obama, and the fact that he's living in the White House doesn't make him beyond suspicion and scrutiny.
In fact, that's all the more reason for suspicion AND scrutiny.
Obama was speaking extemporaneously, not reading from his tele-prompter, and, like his wife saying she was finally proud of her country because his presidential campaign was going well, he was candid with "Joe."
Wikipedia reports the encounter between "Joe" and candidate Obama as follows:
"On October 12, 2008, three days before the final presidential debate, Obama met residents in Wurzelbacher's Ohio neighborhood. Wurzelbacher, who had been playing football with his son in his front yard at the time, asked Obama about his tax plan. Wurzelbacher suggested that Obama's tax plan would be at odds with "the American dream." Wurzelbacher said, 'I'm getting ready to buy a company that makes 250 to 280 thousand dollars a year. Your new tax plan's going to tax me more, isn't it?'
"Obama responded with an explanation of how his tax plan would affect a small business in this bracket. Obama said, 'If you're a small business, which you would qualify, first of all, you would get a 50 percent tax credit so you'd get a cut in taxes for your health care costs. So you would actually get a tax cut on that part. If your revenue is above 250, then from 250 down, your taxes are going to stay the same. It is true that, say for 250 up — from 250 to 300 or so, so for that additional amount, you'd go from 36 to 39 percent, which is what it was under Bill Clinton.'
"Obama also said, 'It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance at success, too... My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody. If you've got a plumbing business, you're gonna be better off [...] if you've got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody's so pinched that business is bad for everybody and I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody.'"
As President, Obama has been "spread[ing] the wealth around" largely by borrowing.
He wants to keep on borrowing (and spending), of course. (It's key to his reelection strategy.)
Giving Obama carte blanche would be utterly irresponsible, and the budget deal that Speaker Boehner worked out with President Obama and Senate Mahority Leader Reid suggests he's out of his league and gives Americans cause to cry.
Predictably, the liberal media establishment, the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats are saying that not raising the national debt ceiling would be irresponsible.
Unsurprisingly, they are wrong.
Continuing along the path of fiscal irresponsibility would be far worse.
Will the House Republicans stand strong or meekly go along with what would be terribly wrong?
If they do, the stealth socialists who have led ACORN, SEIU, La Raza and the like will be put in position to secure the kind of "fundamental transformation" that send American exceptionalism to the dustbin of history and let revisionist historians like Obama spin fantasies about how America's government made America great.
Will and Ariel Durant, in The Lessons of History (1968), wrote: "The fear of capitalism has compelled socialism to widen freedom, and the fear of socialism has compelled capitalism to increase equality. East is West and West is East, and soon the twain will meet."
The stealth socialists have made great progress since Ronald Reagan left the White House and President George H. W. Bush decided that "Read my lips. No new taxes." was a nice sound bite that had served its purpose and could be superseded.
President Clinton could not deliver as much as his ACORN friends wanted and had to move toward the center to be re-elected, but after the Second President Bush disappointed so many, the stealth socialists put their man in the White House and decried criticism of him as racist. Worse, enough compliant members of Congress were elected with Obama to allow him to force through Obamacare and wasteful "stimulus" spending that swiftly raised the national debt to mind-boggling heights.
The Durants concluded: "History is, above all else, the creation and recording of...heritage; progress is its increasing abundance, preservation, transmission, and use. To those of us why study history not merely as a warning reminder of man's follies and crimes, the past ceases to be a depressing chamber of horrors; it becomes a celestial city, a spacious country of the mind, wherein a thousand saints, statesmen, inventors, scientists, poets, artists, musicians, lovers, and philosophers still live and speak, teach and carve and sing. The historian will not mourn because he can see no meaning in human existence except that which man puts into it; let it be our pride that we ourselves may put meaning into our lives, and sometimes a significance that transcends death. If a man is fortunate he will, before he dies, gather up as much as he can of his civilized heritage and transmit it to his children. And to his final breath he will be grateful for this inexhaustible legacy, knowing that it is our nourishing mother and our lasting life."
The stealth socialists would have Big Government be "our nourishing mother and our lasting life."
That's not what America's Founders chose, or what Americans want. They demand their God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, not a welfare state in which a substantial majority dependent class are supported by a minority tax-paying class that is said to owe it to them.
The solution is to subject Obama and his supporters to the scrutiny that they escaped before the 2008 election and to expose the truth about them.
All voters need to know the story of ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief before the presidential candidates are nominated in 2012.
