Dr. Miriam Grossman: "If only women knew the facts"

"Dr. Miriam Grossman is a bright, bold, but solitary beacon revealing the avalanche of faulty sex education and counseling that is endangering the physical and emotional health of our young people and corrupting their futures."

In 2009 Harvard Law School Professor Alan Dershowitz ranked Until Proven Innocent: Political Correctness and The Shameful Injustice of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case among the five best books on legal cases and declared that the case "demonstrates how contemporary political correctness, run amok, can deform the legal system just as dramatically as other prejudices have in the past."

Dr. Miriam Grossman has demonstrated in two books, Unprotected: A Campus Psychiatrist Reveals How Political Correctness Endangers Every Student (2006) and You're Teaching My Child What? A Physician Exposes the Lies of Sex Education and How They Harm Your Child (2009), has proven that political correctness warps the medical and education systems too and has used science to do it.

Dr. Grossman's website (www.miriamgrossmanmd.com) is a treasure trove of information, including a Planned Parenthood video asserting "the 'normality' of promiscuity and the inevitability of catching HPV" (www.miriamgrossmanmd.com/PlannedParenthoodVideo.php). See particularly Dr. Grossman's very informative CSPAN interview (www.c-spanvideo.org/program/200234-1).

Dr. Grossman seeks "to bring sex ed into the 21st century...based on what's seen under a microscope and on brain scans, not the dusty theories of Kinsey and Gloria Steinem, " because "[o]ur kids deserve better" (www.nationalreview.com/articles/228377/sex-ed-hazardous-your-childs-health/interview?page=4).

Unprotected's product description identified both the problem and Dr. Grossman's solution:

"Our campuses are steeped in political correctness — that's hardly news to anyone. But no one realizes that radical social agendas have also taken over campus health and counseling centers, with dire consequences.

"Psychiatrist Miriam Grossman knows this better than anyone. She has treated more than 2,000 students at one of America's most prestigious universities, and she's seen how the anything- goes, women-are-just-like-men, 'safer-sex' agenda is actually making our sons and daughters sick.

"Dr. Grossman takes issue with the experts who suggest that students problems can be solved with free condoms and Zoloft. What campus counselors and health providers must do, she argues, is tell uncomfortable, politically incorrect truths, especially to young patients in their most vulnerable and confused moments. Instead of platitudes and misinformation, it's time to offer them real protection."

Among the overwhelmingly favorable reviews at amazon.com is this clear, concise and compelling one by Jerri Sendach (www.amazon.com/Unprotected-Miriam-Grossman/dp/1595230459): "As a clinical psychologist, I have nothing but praise for this book. Political correctness became more important than patients somewhere in the late 1980's and the truth hasn't been seen much of since. This is a must read for anybody who is in therapy as well as all psychotherapists. The author was meticulous in her research. She is one person I would recommend as a therapist. It's too bad she has to remain anonymous, which is a prudent choice because her peers would harshly criticize her for daring to question the liberal agendas of unrestrained sex, abortion on demand, and maintaining the illusion that women and men are psychologically the same."

Dr. Grossman bravely went public after Dr. Laura Schlessinger deemed the book worthy of promotion on her radio show.

Dr. Schessinger described Unprotected as " an absolute must" that parents "have to read."

Dr. Schlessinger was right, but, predictably, the politically correct media has basically ignored the truths Dr. Grossman has been telling.

This week Dr. Grossman appears twice as a guest on the Laura Ingraham radio and once as the featured speaker at a luncheon offered by the World Youth Alliance at its New York headquarters, telling listeners what needs to be known, so that appropriate action will be taken. She is an awesome advocate who really knows what she's talking about and cares deeply about the well-being of people.

Dr. Grossman succinctly summed up her critically important message during a National Review Online interview (www.nationalreview.com/articles/228377/sex-ed-hazardous-your-childs-health/interview) as follows: "People need to understand that the primary goal of sex education is not eradication of disease, it's social change. Groups like Planned Parenthood and SIECUS [Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S.] inculcate students to value openness and acceptance of nearly any consensual sexual encounter. A visit to some of the websites to which kids are sent by these organizations demonstrates that their fight is against repression and intolerance, not herpes and warts. The latter are bothersome but manageable; the former are unacceptable and must be eliminated."

Dr. Grossman has pointed out critical facts omitted in sex education and poignantly described the plight of female college freshman "liv[ing] in a...world...where sexual freedom and exploration are the priority, and HPV is, more often than not, part of the package" this way:

"...she's been taught she's a 'sexual being,' from cradle to grave. Decisions about sex — when, what, and with whom — are for her to make and for others (read: adults) to respect. She's misinformed about genital infections: She believes that all sexual activity — with a stranger or a spouse, at age 15 or 25 — carries some risk of infection. The only way to avoid the blisters, warts, and discharges, she thinks, is to abstain from sex forever. "At her freshman orientation, she learned where to obtain emergency contraception and free condoms. At the student health center she's asked, 'Do you have sex with men, women, or both?' She wants a social life, but dating is dead. There's lots of alcohol on campus, and hook-ups are the norm. More than a few friends have been treated for genital infections.

"She does not understand that sexuality is an appetite, a healthy and wonderful one, but like all appetites, only if restrained. That's a moral message, she thinks, not a medical one. And it's someone else's morality."

Dr. Grossman expertly and emphatically rejects the premise of teaching "safe sex" that adolescents are completely capable of making responsible sexual decisions and the adult's role is to provide information and skills and presents a science-based case for "waiting" on sex that the politically correct sex education industry ignores, including teen "thinking" brain immaturity and cervix immaturity. The human brain does not reach full maturity until the third decade of life. The pre-frontal cortex (the brain's center for reasoning, judgment, self evaluation, and planning) develops after the "feeling" brain ("quick, short-sighted, emotion-driven, and susceptible to coercion and peer pressure") matures. Neuropsychologists have discovered that "under intense, novel, and highly stimulating conditions this part of the brain can take over," resulting in such poor choices as drug use, high-speed driving and risky sexual encounters. Increased vulnerability to disease is a result of cervix immaturity.

Dr. Grossman's latest book, You're Teaching My Child What?, richly merits these accolades:

"Parents, this book is a gift from a gutsy doctor who puts your child first. Dr. Miriam Grossman examines what the powerful sex education industry teaches your child, and what she finds will make your hair curl. Do you have a child in school? With this book you'll understand the destructive agendas of so-called 'scientific' sex ed, then you'll learn what your kids really need to know: politically incorrect truths that blow those agendas out of the water. Finally, a doctor who's brave enough to break ranks and call foul. We owe her a standing ovation." — Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Author and host of a nationally syndicated radio program

"Dr. Miriam Grossman is a bright, bold, but solitary beacon revealing the avalanche of faulty sex education and counseling that is endangering the physical and emotional health of our young people and corrupting their futures. This is an alert that all parents must read, and an antidote that our young people can use against those so-called experts who would indoctrinate them." — Nicholas A. Cummings, Ph.D., Sc.D. Former President, American Psychological Association

"The sex education lobby systematically undermines traditional morality and aggressively promotes an ideology of sexual license while pretending to be concerned only with the health and safety of young people. The sad truth is that by subtly (and sometimes not-so-subtly) encouraging and often facilitating adolescent sexual activity, the sex ed establishment jeopardizes the physical and emotional health of children as well as their moral and spiritual welfare. It is high time that someone stepped forward to expose much contemporary sex education for what it is, namely, a series of catechism classes for the pseudo-religion of sexual liberationism. Dr. Miriam Grossman has done just that. This bold and brilliant physician has done the nation and its children a great service. Everyone who believes, as I do, in the importance of childhood innocence and safety, and the sound moral development of young men and women, owes Dr. Grossman an enormous debt." — Robert P. George, McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions, Princeton University

Bravo, Dr. Grossman!
