According to The Hill, one of the leading political websites in the nation's capitol, a record number of Muslims are running for public office. The Hill's calculations indicate that as many as 90 followers of Allah have pursued statewide or nationwide positions in 2018, the most since 9/11. This is more than seven times the number of Muslim candidates just two years ago.

There are nine Muslim congressional candidates who still alive electorally. Additionally, 18 others are running for positions in their state legislatures, and another 10 are running either for major statewide or local offices.

This is an alarming and dangerous trend that must be stopped in the interests of national security and national cohesion.

In Michigan, a state with one of the largest Muslim populations in America, at least seven Muslims are on the August 7 primary ballot, including Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, who is running to become the first Muslim governor in America. El-Sayed has well-established connections with the Muslim Brotherhood, having served as the vice-president of the Muslim Student Association while at the University of Michigan.

The slogan of the Muslim Brotherhood? "Allah is our objective; the Qur'an is the Constitution; the Prophet is our leader; jihad is our way; death for the sake of Allah is our wish." Yikes.

Even worse, the "Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group (i.e. The Muslim Brotherhood) in North America" contains the following:
"The Ikwhan (i.e., lit. "the brothers") must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."

Double yikes.

There is not a single one of the rights identified in the First Amendment that the Qu'ran or Sharia law honors. In Islam, there is no freedom of religion (Saudi Arabia does not have a single church building anywhere), freedom of speech or the press (criticizing Islam or Muhammad will land you in jail), no freedom of assembly (even home Bible studies are flatly illegal in Saudi Arabia), and no freedom to petition the government for the redress of grievances.

Christians and Jews are officially second-class citizens under Sharia law, and are only allowed to live if they pay a submission tax, called the jizya. Otherwise, it's off with their heads. Women have virtually no rights under Sharia, and husbands are even directed to beat wives who won't do what they are told.

There is no room in our political life for people who hold such radical and fundamentally subversive and anti-America views. The Communist Party was declared illegal in 1954 because of its totalitarian worldview. Islam certainly qualifies for the same treatment for the same reason.

What can be done to stop this scourge? One step, of course, is to educate Christian America so that they never even think about voting for someone who will carry this ideology into public office.

But there is another an even more effective way that is perfectly constitutional and has been since the founding of the Republic. That is for the individual states to establish a religious test for public office. The federal government, of course, cannot do such a thing, but states are free to do it if they wish.

There were religious tests for public office in almost every state in the Union at the time of the ratification of the Constitution. Here are just a few examples:

"I _______, do declare that I believe the Christian religion..." ~ Massachusetts, 1780

–––

"...a declaration of a belief in the Christian religion." ~ Maryland, 1776

–––

"I _______, do profess faith in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ His only Son, and in the Holy Ghost, One God, blessed for evermore; and I do acknowledge the holy scriptures of the Old Testament and New Testament to be given by Divine Inspiration." ~ Delaware, 1776

–––

"Senate. Provided, nevertheless, That no person shall be capable of being elected a senator who is not of the Protestant religion...

"House of Representatives. Every member of the house of representatives... shall be of the Protestant religion...

"President. [H]e shall be of the Protestant religion." ~ New Hampshire, 1784

–––

"[R]epresentatives... shall be of the Protestant religion..." ~ Georgia, 1777

–––

"That no person, who shall deny the being of God or the truth of the Protestant religion, or the divine authority of the Old or New Testaments, or who shall hold religious principles incompatible with the freedom and safety of the State, shall be capable of holding any office or place of trust or profit in the civil department within this State." ~ North Carolina, 1776

–––

"shall each [representative] before they proceed to business take... the following oath or affirmation:

'I do believe in one God, the creator and governor of the universe, the rewarder of the good and punisher of the wicked. And I do acknowledge the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be given by Divine inspiration.'" ~ Pennsylvania, 1776

–––

"...all persons, professing a belief in the faith of any Protestant sect, who shall demean themselves peaceably under the government, as hereby established, shall be capable of being elected into any office of profit or trust..." ~ New Jersey, 1776

–––

Some states have since amended their state constitutions to ban religious tests at the state level. But the ones who haven't are in a position to do something about this issue today.

This contagion of Islam, the Ebola virus of culture, must be stopped and it must be stopped now, before the United States turns into Europe. The Constitution shows us how it can be done. Which state will be the first to lead the way?
