Sliming America

Within days after Barack Obama appointed him chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, a summa cum laude Chicago Machine grad, displayed his leftist bona fides for all the nation to see when he told attendees of a Wall Street Journal sponsored conference, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

Of course, Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the Hope and Change Gang, all of whom are Rahm's ideological blood brothers and sisters, happily ran with the advice in spades, explaining why tens of millions of Americans from across the political spectrum have drawn a thick red circle around the date Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

There is, however, something else liberals haven't allowed "to go to waste" since Obama took office: specifically, the opportunity to let the great majority of Americans know what they really think about them.

So it is that liberals are smearing landslide majorities who oppose Obama's love of big, centralized, command government; his mad spending and dangerous borrowing; his healthcare monstrosity; his attack on Arizona; his political payoffs; and his moral support for a mosque near Ground Zero as racists, fascists, Hispanic haters, nativist Know-Nothings, and hate mongering, anti-American Islamophobes.

In typical leftist fashion, however, liberals must hide the fact that beneath their protestations of loving ordinary citizens lies a contemptible, arrogance which finds Jefferson's ideas about the supremacy of "We the People" repulsive.

That truth explains the massive, meticulously-on-message smear campaign they are directing at the Tea Party, as exemplified by teapartytracker.org, a website dedicated to monitoring "racism and other forms of extremism within the Tea Party movement."

Who's behind the website?

Well, there's Think Progress, which Kurt Nimmo of infowars.com describes as "a George Soros operation connected to John Podesta's Center for American Progress."

No piker this Mr. Podesta, for he certainly qualifies as a Democratic Party VIP, having served as Clinton's Chief of Staff and co-chair of Obama's transition team.

Tea Party Tracker is also aligned with the NAACP, the same NAACP that had not a single condemnatory word to say during the '08 Election when former DNC Chairman Ed Rendell and powerful Congressman John Murtha (D-PA) made statements about Pennsylvania voters that implied there are millions of racist Democrats nationwide.

Another partner is Media Matters, a liberal media watchdog whose website says only that it is "funded by numerous donors and grants," a statement that makes us wonder if Mr. Soros is one of its benefactors.

After all, like their leftist friends at the UN who stuffed their pockets with blood money they made by selling Saddam-granted oil contracts that perverted the Iraqi "Oil for Food Program," liberals know that a lot of things are fungible, including cash.

Finally, the website is associated with New Left Media, a video-making enterprise run by a couple of college students who plead for contributions so that they can "continue investigating the rise of [the] Tea Party movement and its particular brand of paranoid and conspiratorial libertarianism."

Now, because the people and organizations that run and support Tea Party Tracker are heavy hitters within the Democratic Party, prominent Democrats will never denounce the site as a forum for those whose angry "extremism" and "paranoid" delusions give rise to ugly vitriol that foments hatred against the vast majority of the American public.

But that's exactly what the website is and what it does, as evidenced in its readers' comments, for instance, the ones posted after "Political Rally or Not? We Report, You Decide" (www.teapartytracker.org).

Following is a sampling of the superior liberal intellectuality and civility found in statements that —

. . . wish "this nation was as socialistic . . . as these really stupid Tea Partiers claim."

. . . condemn the "scum" who think freeing the people of Iraq "was a good idea."

. . . beg the "rest of the world" to forgive America for the alleged Iraq atrocity.

. . . mock Christians as belonging "in a mental institution."

. . . urge all religious human beings to "take [their] god and shove it."

. . . vilify "glenn beck's nazi rally" as "FASCISM . . . sponsored by the gop & news corp."

. . . scorn C-SPAN's coverage of the rally by exclaiming, "WOW ! F~in Crap-span has a republiklan bias too!"

. . . hope Mr. Beck shoots himself on his television show.

. . . and make crude, despicable jokes about former RNC Chair Ken Mehlman.

But spewing filth isn't limited to liberals who post comments online; for there is profound truth in the widespread folk aphorism that asserts, "Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are."

And sure enough, like their friends at Tea Party Tracker, the most important liberal leaders in politics, the media, and academia spew the same kind of ugliness —

. . . Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, for example, who looked upon the entirety of the Tea Party movement and saw only "Astroturf" phonies and "swastika" carrying maniacs.

. . . And Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who surveyed the movement to see not "my mom" (as in the title of Michael Graham's book That's No Angry Mob, That's My Mom) but a diabolical convocation of "evil mongers."

Finally, there is this to say about vile, insulting, aristocratic slime that reeks of pretense:

Self-Respect insists we denounce it with vigorous, unrelenting condemnations while Civic Duty demands we respond to it at Democracy's most important venue — the polls, come November.
