For nearly two weeks since Mike Johnson was elected Speaker of the House, the Radical Left has been apoplectic over this reality. With “hair on fire” and “heads exploding” emotion, the MSM and brother cable news talking heads, and liberal/establishment newspapers call him a Christian nationalist, theocrat, even Christo-fascist, and that he is part of the Radical Right, all because he is a Christian who actually “walks the talk.” I suggest that Speaker Mike Johnson can give lessons on why character matters in all areas of life, including our government.
So, why do almost all of America’s Goebbelsesque propagandists, aka journalists, have such a hatred for Christians? Do these pundits, not news givers, realize that there remains a majority, 63 percent, of Americans who identify as Christians? While this is a dramatic decline from 78 percent in 2007, according to the Pew Research Center, it is a majority, nonetheless.
The U.S. Congress is made up from “representatives” of the people and is the branch of our Federal Government that is closest to the people. Therefore, it seems reasonable that if most of the population is Christian, our leaders would reflect this. But a Christian man as House Speaker is not acceptable? And what about the term of theocrat that is being thrown around by media sources? One man, or many men in government honoring the God of the Bible and conducting business according to biblical principles does not mean our government is a theocracy. It means that these individuals honor the God who created them, and His Word, and live their lives accordingly. Remember our official motto, In God We Trust, and the words “one nation under God” from our national anthem? That God is the God of the Bible and His Son, Jesus Christ.
What is surprising to the media pundits is that Speaker Johnson means what he says and says what he means, especially when it comes to the things of God. He is not just a claimant of Christ, or in the new vernacular, someone “identifying” as a Christian. Sadly, the latter is what most of the “Church” has become, or at least resembles. Scripture speaks of this fake Christianity as a “form of [outward] godliness (religion), although they have denied its power [for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith]” (2 Tim. 3:5 AMP).
Accordingly, the following may be surprising to many of you. A show host on one of the Real America’s Voice programs this past week mentioned how many supposed Christians serve in the 118th Congress. I was questioning the figure because of the “fruit” produced by all these supposed Christians and proceeded to do my own research. From Pew Research Center I learned that Christians represent 80 percent of Congress! Pew states this is the lowest number of Christians serving in Congress since the group started reporting these statistics in the 2009-2010 session. In 1970, the percentage was 93 percent Christians in Congress.
Does any of this surprise you?
Many of us have been praying for God to put Christians in office because they would do the right thing. All the while supposedly 80 percent of our current congressmen are Christians?! Right…
What this means is that even those on the Left of the aisle claim to be Christians but regularly espouse ideas and create new laws that contradict their so-called belief in God and His Son Jesus Christ. In other words, they are simply Christian claimants.
I suppose much of this is just the plain politics of telling people what they want to hear. If one says he is a Christian, he is implying he has values and morals. Instead of questioning the “sales pitch” or examining the “fruit” of these peddlers, we buy it all. And the rest, as they say, is history.
When politicians do the opposite of what they say they will do, that is called lying. When they claim to be Christian and then act or vote against biblical principles and teachings, they are both liars and fakes. If they do not honor God and His Son, then they serve the devil. There are only two choices. Voters, particularly Christians, need to realize we have been bamboozled!
So then, we get back to Mike Johnson. One of the criticisms against him is that he is a newcomer. In politi-speak this means he has not “paid his dues” as lowly Representative until the party “leaders” decide it is his time. (Sounds like the Mafia.) Does anyone know what happens to all those who serve multiple terms for sometimes decades? We call them career politicians, who become corrupt and compromised, and usually no longer serve the citizens who hired them. The longer someone serves in Congress, the more they can be persuaded by one or many of the lobbyists in Washington, D.C.
Open Secrets.org reports that in 2023 there are approximately 12,500 lobbyists whose organizations have spent $3.13 billion to lobby our government! BTW, one of the biggest lobbying organizations is the Open Society Policy Center (George Soros) that spent $31.5 million. https://www.businessinsider.com/lobbying-groups-spent-most-money-washington-dc-2018-2019-3?op=1#blue-cross-blue-shied-15 Who do you think is getting all this money?
We the People expect our elected representatives to listen to us, the rightful “lobbyists.” Instead, money talks, and bills get passed that are in direct opposition to what we desire. Therefore, we watch the nation continue to deteriorate, and our freedoms and safety erode, even though the main purpose of our government, according to the Constitution, is to protect us. But then, the politicians get richer and richer. The Washington Examiner reports that six of the 10 richest counties in America, and ten of the top 20 are in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. Politics pays! American citizens suffer.
Instead of condemning Johnson, those who love America should be rejoicing that we have such a principled man as Speaker, and second in line to the Presidency if something happened to both the President and Vice President. In such a situation we could be at peace knowing that his fear of the Lord causes him to make careful decisions. He is also a constitutional scholar who believes that the U.S. Constitution is still the Rule of Law over America.
Furthermore, a man who fears God cannot be “bought and paid for” like scores of those in Congress, and the present occupier of the White House who telegraphed the fact he was willing to be bought when he ran for the U.S. Senate five decades ago, and is still willing (Peter Schweizer, Profiles in Corruption).
Neither can a Christ-centered man be blackmailed. When a man honors his commitments to the Lord, his wife, and family, “honeypots” do not work. But there are people in Congress who have gone this route, with Chinese spies and who knows what else, yet remain in Congress. It is just the way business is done in D.C.
When we elect people without moral character, or people who do not speak truth, we deserve the crummy representatives we get. America is a constitutional republic, not a democracy, a form of government in which a representative is elected by the people to govern for them, according to the rules established in the law of the land. (legal dictionary.net) Notice the last part of this definition, according to the rules established in the “law of the land.”
Speaker Johnson is going to honor our Constitution, and God’s Word. In today’s confused world where “my truth” trumps THE truth, we truly need more Mike Johnsons. We need more people who have strong convictions and do not deviate according to the prevailing winds or political expediency. Understand that some people will sell their very souls to Satan for money, power, and fame—the idols they worship. This has happened to numerous Hollywood entertainers, and far too many of our politicians.
It is Republicans who are generally the most conservative, and therefore thought more likely to be of the Christian faith. But then there are the Democrats…
The Democrat Party has morphed into the party that rejects God, like the Communist Party, and promotes Marxist and communist ideals. (Which is why I call Dems the New Communist Party.) How then can a true, Bible-believing Christian serve in such a party? A true Christian cannot endorse or promote anything that is diametrically opposed to biblical standards. Period.
Dear friends, we need discernment. We need to turn off the TV for a few hours a week and seek the truth about those we have elected to guide our nation in protecting our freedoms. We also need to pray that God will guide us into truth and give us insight on matters that concern us both individually and collectively. We should seek wisdom needed to understand what is happening all around us. How do we get wisdom? Scripture says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Prov. 9:10).
Instead of we or our congressional representatives cowering to mockers of Christians, let us pray we can withstand the wiles of the enemy of our very souls, the devil. Scripture tells us, “Your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet. 5:8 NKJV).
As for all the enemies of our Lord, including those espousing lies from their media perches, we should pray for them. Even as Jesus was being crucified, speaking about those executing Him, He asked God to “forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 22:34).
There is an old saying that those who stand for nothing will fall for anything. May all of us learn to have strong convictions to not cave to pressures by the “anything goes” crowd. Character matters. Our Founding documents still stand as guidelines for governance. The Bible still guides us into God’s Truth and how to live our lives, and Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8). Stand for Him and His Word and see what He will do! To anyone willing to hear….
