America’s battle: Insanity or demonic control?

Has America gone insane? All of us have either asked this question, or heard it asked. Right?

For anyone who still has a functioning brain, it is apparent that something extremely horrifying is occurring in America. Basic common sense and reason are becoming rare, being replaced with emotional reactions, especially rage, that in turn are causing huge segments of society to become unhinged. Our so-called leaders continually fan the emotional flames with rhetoric designed to undermine the now fragile underpinnings of society.

For decades, what we have been experiencing is America’s increasing rebellion against God. While we have been gradually shifting from our biblical roots since the beginning of our nation’s founding, the most significant swing happened during the 1960s. That is when we experienced the hippie movement, filled with drugs and free love. During this period the Bible and prayer were removed from the schools. Shortly thereafter, we experienced the beginning of women’s liberation and homosexual movements.

These events launched a massive rebellion against God. And today, we are experiencing the fruit of this rebellion. Scripture calls the outcome, reaping what we have sown. (Gal. 6:7)

Understand the formation of all these movements had the end goal of kicking God out of our lives. Thus, true believers and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ—the Church—had a role to play in fighting against them, but apparently were not as dedicated to the fight as the enemy behind the movements. We could have taken strong stands against these evils, speaking boldly to the powers of government that made new laws endorsing the separation from Universal Laws, in favor of evil laws that would only cause growing depravity. Remember that abortion was made the so-called “law of the land” in 1973. This could only have happened after our morality was mortally wounded.

By the way…Roe v. Wade was based on a lie from the beginning. Then, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) “legislated from the bench” by making new “law.” For those who have read and understand the simple language of the U. S. Constitution, laws are made by the United States Congress, not SCOTUS. In the 1970’s, it is highly unlikely that most congressional members would have had the intestinal fortitude to pass a law that would cause the murder of babies in their mothers’ wombs. Citizens would not have allowed it. Therefore, how can the right of abortion be established law, when it did not go through the legislative process of being passed by both houses of congress, nor was it then signed into law by the President of the United States?

Today there is no doubt that the congress would pass such a bill, and presidents like the current office holder, and his handler, Obama, would without a doubt, sign such a bill. Most legislators today treat the Constitution more like toilet paper, rather than adhering to it as the Rule of Law. Understand that after trashing or rejecting God’s Law, man thinks He is in control…but is he?

As mentioned in a previous article, abortion, and the homosexual (LGBT) causes are two of the most destructive movements in America. These represent the shedding of innocent blood, and a breaking of the marriage covenant, both of which are enough reason for judgment to be unleashed on America.

In the Ten Commandments, God said, “You shall not murder.” Scripture also says that during Creation, God “made them male and female…and told them to be fruitful and multiply.” Do we understand the implications? Abortion is murdering innocent life. In fact, abortion could be considered first degree murder, because it is both deliberate and pre-meditated, which can result in the death penalty. Oh, but our government maintains the baby getting murdered is not a person, so that negates any penalty. So much for follow the science! Also, while the dumbed down masses may buy this argument, I would be very careful using it when standing before the Judgment Seat one day in the future.

The LGBT movement makes a total mockery of God’s design. Both old and new testaments of the Bible issue stern warnings about homosexuality and related practices. Instead of “following the science,” this group not only believes men can be women and vice versa, they now contend men can have babies, which is not biologically possible. It takes both a man and a woman to procreate, each having specific roles in the process. Even for the man-hating lesbians having babies, it still takes a man to accomplish the task. This is how God made us. Period.

Anything to the contrary is insanity. But then, we must be insane because even high-ranking government leaders are now using terms like “birthing people.”

Perhaps we should pull back the proverbial curtain to understand what is causing this insanity.

Because America has been changing the meanings of words over many decades, just as George Orwell foresaw in his book, Nineteen Eighty-Four, I had to go back in time before political correctness ruled, for a dictionary carrying an accurate definition of insane. Webster’s Dictionary 1828 defines insane: unsound in mind or intellect; mad; deranged in mind; delirious; distracted. Does this sound like much of the American population?

While some people may have chemical imbalances or physical reasons for mental illness, could it possibly be that most of the madness is spiritual? The Bible gives examples of people suffering from the above maladies—people who were demon-possessed. Or could God be turning us over to evil?

In my recent article, It is Time to Stand! we discussed how we are not battling with people, but spirits influencing people. Scripture explains, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12 NKJV)

Just as there is a hierarchy of power among the angels in service to God, there is a hierarchy in the demonic realm as well. What we must understand is that if we are not Christians, meaning we have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are susceptible to the schemes of the devil, and yes, we are sinners.

Even after making Jesus our Lord and Savior does not mean we will not be tempted to sin. We must choose to follow Him and obey His teachings. However, Scripture explains that we cannot serve two masters. (Matt. 6:24) We can either commit ourselves to serving God or devote our attentions to all the offerings of the “flesh” the devil uses to tempt us. Of this tempter, the Bible says the whole world lies in the wicked one (1 Jn. 5:19), and that he is the ruler of this world (Jn. 12:31), until God casts him down in the future.

So, what do we think the devil wants to do with the masses of humanity? We are told in Scripture that he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. (Jn. 10:10) He wants to steal, kill, and destroy all of us. Without Christ, we are pawns in the hands of this evil entity, who has unknown numbers of demons determined to obey their hellish master.

Therefore, we wrestle with all the above-listed evil powers/demons. Sadly, it appears the dark side is winning, perhaps because so many of our leaders are puppets of these devilish taskmasters. Or perhaps while some of us may claim to follow Jesus, we are also trying to get goodies from the devil. (This is serving two masters, or fence-straddling, which means we probably have not fully committed to the Lord Jesus, and maybe are not saved.) For those who want power and wealth, the devil is always ready to make a tempting deal. He even tempted Jesus! Of course, for Jesus, it was easy to reject the offer.

For mere humans, these temptations are hard to resist without God’s help, and the price of dealing with the devil is the loss of our souls—but hey, we gain all that power and wealth. While people who reject God joke that hell will be great because a lot of their friends will be there, they apparently have not read how the Bible describes hell—a blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matt. 13:50) Does this sound like a party?

Just look at those who supposedly serve us in government. While citizens are losing our hard-earned wealth, constitutional rights, and freedoms, our so-called leaders use their positions to increase their wealth, and insure they are exempt from the rules they make for us. What deals with the devil were made by some of these people who hold great responsibility for the destruction of our foundations? But remember, John Adams warned, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” So, is it a surprise we have corrupt, self-serving leaders? What have we really done to change things? Perhaps we have the government we deserve?

What we have been discussing is a prelude for explaining the works of our spiritual enemy. For us to have a chance at victory over the evil arrows being shot at us from every direction, we must understand exactly what/who is behind the bow. It does not have to be frightening. After all, the Bible says the truth shall make us free. (Jn. 8:32)

Until we continue this discussion, the three most important things we can do is seek God, get right with Him by repenting and making Jesus Lord and Savior over everything in our lives, and then pray for mercy upon our nation. While deserving judgment, our humility before our Holy God may cause Him to extend His mercy a while longer. To anyone willing to hear….
