Consequential judgment

America has abandoned God; is God now abandoning America?

For the last few weeks, I have had a sense of foreboding that the stench of America’s abominations has reached the throne room of God, and that consequential judgment against us has begun.

Waiting upon the Lord this morning, I was reminded I have been writing about the state of our nation, world, and church for two decades. This was a calling, not something sought after. It does not give me pleasure to report on these matters, but God wants His church to be aware and warned about them. He requires a response from those who claim to follow Him and has shown throughout His Word there will be consequences for these responses. Specifically, everyone who simply watches the sin, abominations, and our destruction, then dismisses it, is part of the problem. Our silence, dismissal, or indifference in essence indicates our approval/acceptance of, and acquiescence to the sins—all of which is also considered sin.

It is time to wake up. Our nation is morally and spiritually bankrupt!

We invent new ways to sin on a regular basis, but because the population has been seduced by a godless, politically correct spirit, normally sane, rational citizens have been paralyzed with fear of repercussions for speaking out. And yes, even the so-called church has failed to respond, whether out of fear, laziness, or complacency.

The Old Testament teaches that Ancient Israel repeatedly faced God’s judgment when the people failed to obey His precepts. This was often done by sending them into captivity by abandoning them to be slaves in other lands. This is not because God did not love Israel, because this is still His “chosen people,” according to His Word. However, like parents punishing disobedient children and to get their attention, God was simply punishing His disobedient children, and to return their focus to Him. When the people repented and cried out to the Father, He relented, forgave them, and returned them to their land.

God also repeatedly allowed Israel to be attacked, and the temple to be destroyed twice.

In America, there are scores of us who believe the September 11 attacks were consequential judgment upon us. Were they allowed to get our attention and draw us back to God who has blessed us with a nation unlike any other—one based on individual freedoms? For a short while, Americans indeed turned their eyes to the Father, asking for His mercy. What is unclear is whether we also repented of our individual/corporate sins.

Across America, things soon returned to “business as usual” except that the government became more tyrannical, using the attacks to grab more control from, and as an excuse for spying on, its citizens. The American Civil Liberties Union believes this is the case because of the rapid writing and passage of the Patriot Act. https://www.aclu.org/other/surveillance-under-usapatriot-act

In the intervening 20 years since that infamous day in September, our nation has been spiraling towards depravity in multiple ways.

The word “unprecedented” is often used to describe events happening throughout our society. While true that modern civilization may not have seen/experienced some of these events, the Bible tells us, “That which has been is that which will be [again], And that which has been done is that which will be done again. So, there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecc. 1:9 AMP)

In the book of Genesis, we are told, “The LORD saw that the wickedness (depravity) of man was great on the earth, and that every imagination or intent of the thoughts of his heart were only evil continually.” (Gen. 6:5 AMP) Then we are told, “The [population of the] earth was corrupt [absolutely depraved—spiritually and morally putrid] in God’s sight, and the land was filled with violence [desecration, infringement, outrage, assault, and lust for power].” (Gen. 6:11 AMP)

For those who may not have read the Old Testament, consequential judgment was wrought on the whole world (the Flood) because “The LORD regretted that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was [deeply] grieved in His heart.” (Gen: 6:6 AMP)

While America may not yet be “absolutely depraved, and spiritually and morally putrid,” there is indeed a noticeable stench of decay, particularly if it has reached God’s throne room.

The following image shows the basic foundations of societies. Which pillar has not been weakened or destroyed?

From the Bible, the following question is asked, “If the foundations [of a godly society] are destroyed, What can the righteous do?” (Ps. 11:3 AMP) Without proper foundations, neither buildings nor societies remain standing.

One enormously evil ideology is a corrupting influence affecting every pillar—the homosexual movement (LGBT). While there is much that can be said about this topic, it is a deep, dark pit we will not explore today except for one area: the so-called “transgender” movement. It may or may not come as a surprise to many that this is not just about men thinking they can be women and vice versa. As of December 2019, there are 64 genders. (https://www.healthline.com/health/different-genders)

Why is this important to know? Because some cities/states, schools, businesses, require citizens must not only recognize the various identities, but by force of law, use proper pronouns when addressing people claiming to be other than what our eyes see. In many schools, teachers are required to call students by whatever name/gender they want to be called on any given day. Teachers can be fired for not adhering to these dictates. Yes, even Christians. There are also fines for our wrongdoing, and possible jail sentences. (Think California and New York.)

Despite the fact God said He made them male and female (Gen. 5:2), our government now demands that citizens break one of the Ten Commandments and lie just to assuage the guilt and desires of a perverse, confused, mentally unbalanced group of individuals. Do not get angry with me. Do your own research. Until 1973, homosexuality was deemed a mental disorder, but the homosexual bullies then forced the American Psychiatric Association to remove the classification. Transgenderism is part of the LGBT “family.” That, my friends, is what my pastor calls “facts.”

By the way…Does anyone remember the other major movement/abomination starting in 1973? Answer: Roe v. Wade, and the death of nearly 63 million unborn American babies. It is still sold as the “constitutional right” to choose.

The lawmakers and judges responsible for this abomination are at serious odds with God our Creator, who is also the Righteous Judge. Even today, when lawmakers say they believe in the “woman’s right to choose,” they never complete what should be a sentence ending in what they choose, which is to murder the life created by God that is living inside of them.

So, for any lawmaker or judge reading this, I suggest you complete the sentence. If you believe murdering babies is a good thing, go all the way. Just because you do not complete the sentence does not mean God is blind to the blood on your hands. Yes, the blood is there. Just as Abel’s blood cries out for justice (Gen. 4:10), so too does the blood of 63 million babies. We cannot begin to comprehend the overwhelming sound of those cries!

In just these two areas of abominations America deserves judgment. But there are many other areas that are possibly causing God to lift His “protective hedge” from around us, or to begin abandoning us, which we will have to explore in the next article.

Clearly, our nation appears to be in a death spiral that cannot be stopped unless there is a turning. Consequential judgment will inevitably fall upon us if we do not repent.

The Bible says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Ch. 7:14)

To all those who claim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, these are our instructions. We must do all four things. Perhaps the hardest requirement is that we turn from our own wicked ways. Sadly, this is because those who comprise the so-called church have begun to resemble the world more than God’s holiness. While it is true that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23), large portions of the church either love the world more than we do God or choose to operate from the “fence” with one foot in the kingdom, one in the world. The Bible is clear that we cannot serve two masters (Matt. 6:24), and that friendship with the world is enmity (hostility) with God. (Jas 4:4)

For those who do not yet know Jesus, Scripture says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom. 10:9) We simply confess the realization we are sinners, ask God to forgive us, and explain we want to change direction. To do that, we understand we need God’s help. We humbly ask Jesus to come into our life and heart and help us live in a new way that will be pleasing to the Father.

If the sins of our nation have reached the throne room of God, time is of the essence. One day it will be too late to seek forgiveness. Scripture says that today is the day of salvation. (2 Cor. 6:2) To anyone willing to hear….
