The United States of America is under God's judgment! The gates of H-E-L-L are gradually being opened to unleash all of the devil's fury upon us. And how do we citizens respond? In our fat, sassy, and self-fulfilled, me-centered lifestyles, we think we can continue to take life easy and eat, drink and be merry. (Luke 12:19) The very next verse should be sobering to all with such attitudes. God says, "You fool! This very night your soul is required of you." (Luke 12:20 NLT)

In this series, we have been discussing sins that plague America, and the solutions. In this last article of the series, we will be discussing the ultimate and only hope for America. So what does America really need most? We need Jesus Christ and His salvation!

At the very heart of America's massive and mounting problems is the fact we have turned our collective back on God. And as even a blind man can see, God has been lifting His hand of protection from us. I believe this began with 9/11. However, as I study, it could have begun when we lost the Viet Nam war...And then the Iraq wars which just keep coming. We haven't won a war since World War II. It seems we are losing our power and might, and even our ability to successfully prosecute wars. The Bible says that nations who are disobedient to God's Word, He will cause them to be defeated before their enemies. (Dt. 28:25)

But until 9/11, America's homeland was always protected. Not now! We apparently have no borders. OPEN borders equal NO borders. And without borders, we are not a sovereign nation, and are not in control of whom or what comes to our country. And obviously, if we aren't in control of that, our enemies are free to invade us. And yes, we are being invaded. Furthermore, when a nation is under God's judgment, God allows the invasions. The Bible says, "A people you do not know will eat what your land and labor produce." (Dt. 28: 33 NIV) Additionally, God tells disobedient nations that He will bring nations against them from far away, from the ends of the earth, like eagles swooping down, nations whose language they will not understand. (Dt. 28:49) Does any of this sound familiar? It should, because it is already happening to us. And instead of our nation's leaders stopping it, they are seemingly encouraging it. Why? Because We the People have chosen ungodly leadership. Thus, we are only reaping what we have sown. (Gal. 6:7)

If we weren't so dumbed-down or utterly lazy, we would know that God was blessing us when we still honored Him...When we still behaved like a Christian nation.

Oh, some folks argue that we are not, and never have been one nation under God – a Christian nation. What foolishness! In the Mayflower Compact, we find perhaps the very first covenant our Founders made with God. It reads:
In the name of God, Amen. We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, etc.

Having undertaken for the Glory of God and advancement of the Christian Faith and Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the First Colony in the Northern Parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, Covenant and Combine ourselves together in a Civil Body Politic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute and frame such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape Cod, the 11th of November, in the year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King James, of England, France and Ireland the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Anno Domini 1620.

Notice this document begins, "In the name of God, Amen," and gives as its most important purpose, listed first, as being "for the Glory of God and advancement of the Christian Faith." Also notice that these people were pledging to "mutually, and in the presence of God and one another, Covenant and Combine" in meeting their commitment. The Mayflower Compact is not only a "statement of purpose," but is also a covenant with God Almighty.

Does God take covenants seriously? You betcha! Even though Israel was and remains the Apple of God's eye, He repeatedly brought judgment upon them, as we can read in the Holy Bible. Minister Perry Stone tells of a five-fold process that occurs when God abandons a nation. The steps are warning; selective chastisement, which happens to individuals; complete chastisement, which happens to nations; selective judgment, when certain areas of a nation are judged; and finally, complete abandonment of an entire nation. Everything was destroyed at the time of Noah. Sodom, Gomorrah, and the surrounding cities were totally destroyed in the time of Lot.

For Israel, God judged to varying degrees when Israel allowed Sodomites to continue their practice, idol worship was allowed to continue, and children were sacrificed to the god, Molech.

In America, the homosexual lifestyle and its related perversions is not only being allowed to continue, but is being promoted from the highest office in the land. Time magazine's "First Gay President" is the head cheerleader for perversity in America. Following Mr. Obama's lead, courts regularly and blatantly overrule the will of the people by "legislating from the bench" and striking down laws rightfully passed, and thus pushing these abominations upon us.

As for idol worship...America has many, which are tools the devil uses to divert our attention from the One True God of all creation. But then, there are all the other "gods" we are being taught to worship instead of the God of the Bible. Despite what Oprah says, there is only one way to heaven, and that's through the One God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Everything else is idol worship – be it about trees, sun, sex, drugs, money, or whatever we put on our personal thrones to worship.

And then we have the sacrificed children. Over 56 million babies have been murdered while in their mothers' wombs since 1973. Yes, there is much harm done to our children, but abortion is enough to bring forth judgment upon us. And judgment there will be for those responsible for this abomination. The Bible tells us that among the things God hates are hands that shed innocent blood. (Pr. 6:17)

In America, God has always protected us because of our original covenant with Him. He has sent us warning upon warning that we are in danger of judgment, but the messages have fallen upon deaf ears. But now, America has crossed what Perry Stone calls the "covenant blood line," that happens when a nation begins to legalize abominations. The abomination of abortion was legalized in 1973, coincidentally, while the Viet Nam war was being lost by our side. The abomination of homosexuality has been ongoing for decades. And while some people may be offended, both abortion on demand, and homosexuality are SIN. And while there are multitudes of sins we can commit, these two will be our downfall.

Since we have kicked God out of our individual and collective lives in America, He is going to allow the enemy, Satan, to have his way with us. How can we possibly expect God to bless us when we spit in His face?! How? We are so incredibly arrogant that we believe no harm can ever come to us. Absurd. In actuality, we are ripe for invasion. Even other nations understand the danger we face. Some gleefully watch and wait for our ultimate demise. Others are poised to attack. Seriously.

America's only hope is to honor God as individuals, and as a nation. We need to return to our godly roots, and honor God. And how do we honor Him? We obey Him. Scripture says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." (Ps. 33:12 NIV)

To our nation, this is what God is declaring: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Ch. 7:14 NIV)

We are a nation, called by His name. Remember the covenants? Further, national polls report that 78 percent of Americans claim to be Christian. Dear friends, what if the 78 percent of our population who claim to be Christians got on their faces and turned from their wicked ways? The answer is that there would be a revival in the land! Further, God would honor His Word from 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Again, what America needs most, and our only hope, is Jesus Christ and His salvation! Individually, what will you do if God says, "This very night your soul is required of you."

Any of us who are unsure we are Christians, whether we are "saved," can settle the matter by confessing we are sinners in need of a Savior; recognizing Jesus Christ as God's Son who was crucified for all our sins, and resurrected from death and now reigns with God the Father in heaven; turning from our sins/repenting; and asking Jesus to be both our Savior and Lord. God will graciously grant salvation through His Son when we honestly and humbly give our hearts and lives to Him, and then both honor and obey Him. What say you, America? To anyone willing to hear....
