Getting real about fairness
By Madeline Crabb
For weeks, Arbiter of Fairness Obama has been lecturing Congress and the American people about how the rich simply aren't paying their fair share of taxes. Promoting his "Buffet rule," he said if the rich just paid a little more in taxes, the massive US debt could be reduced more rapidly. He knows this isn't true, but was hoping the American citizens wouldn't know. But, he doesn't give us enough credit. He also doesn't realize there truly is a great divide, but it's not really between the rich and the poor as he tries to promote. It's between the makers and the takers. The makers are those productive citizens who produce or provide goods, services, and labor to keep our great nation and "Land of Opportunity" afloat. The takers are those who contribute nothing, but consume every free dollar or service they can, whether through legal or illegal means.
From IRS statistics, the Tax Foundation reports only 85 million American citizens paid federal taxes in 2010. Population of the United States is over 313 million. (This figure does not include all those sneaking into our county without invitations, and who the government says we must care for like they are our own.) So according to our own government, out of the reported 313+ million legal citizens living in our country, 228 million of them paid no federal taxes in 2010.
It gets worse. Those who didn't pay any income tax received $105 billion in refundable tax credits from the IRS. Americans for Tax Reform states that these "credits" are controversial in that they "increase the burden of government and are in large part spending programs and only partially tax relief." Many times a citizen not only paid zero taxes, but got money back that he never contributed. And of the $105 billion figure, the government's own Treasury Inspector General for Tax Collection said that $4.2 billion, or about 15 percent went to illegal aliens.
Concerning who actually paid the 2010 federal taxes, government figures state those who made over $50,000 carried 93.3 percent of the burden. Anyone making $50,000 is far from being rich, wouldn't you agree? Those who made over $250,000, the ones Obama calls rich, paid 45.7 percent of the 2010 tax burden. Oh yeah, I'm seeing the fairness, aren't you?
Obama and gang pander to the takers. From the figures above, it is clear that the makers aren't the bad guys — without them, there is no America. But because of the mess government has made out of things, particularly regarding our debt and spending, our so-called leaders must divert attention away from themselves. Who better to blame than the rich. Those big, bad makers are supposed to be ashamed of having any money for themselves. Surely they understand there are 228 million Americans who must be taken care of. (Oh, almost forgot the 20 million+ illegal aliens.)
If the liberal elitists had their way, the takers would be cared for from cradle to grave. Guess about the only thing we don't do yet is bury the takers, but there are TV commercials saying that since Social Security only pays about $200 in death benefits, we've got to find a way to get ourselves buried. Just watch. Pretty soon a politician from the Looney Left will be proposing Universal Burial Coverage. Why, it is a wonder anybody can even wipe their own noses any more without aid from the government.
Understandably, we should all care for those who are down on their luck. Americans have been exceedingly compassionate in this regard. However, there are local, state, and federal programs in place to take care of these "temporary" situations. What troubles most of us is having the government forcing us to support a bunch of deadbeats and moochers who never lift a finger to help themselves. The government is creating an ever-growing class of victims, aptly named the Welfare Class. Isn't that called enabling? While claiming to have good intentions, the truth is the government has more control and power over victims. The makers never give enough for the government or the takers. Both always want more, more, more.
The libs, particularly the Arbiter of Fairness, won't rest until there are no poor. It's time for a reality check, because Jesus, the one and only Son of God, says that the poor will always be among us. So despite that Obama (who wants to be God, thinks he is God) who according to his wife is "bringing us out of the darkness and into the light," he will NOT eliminate the poor. Perhaps Jesus knows something we don't. Hmmmm.....And then there is Scripture that states, if you don't work, you don't eat. Double hmmmmm...
So game on, Mr. Obama. Let's get really real about fairness. Those of us lacking "bleeding hearts" want to see more equity in the carrying of our tax burden. Nothing will ever be fair, because of at least a hundred years of poor judgment of our elected politicians, both Democrat and Republican. We are in such a difficult situation now that our children and grandchildren will suffer tremendously over our recklessness. And yes, We the People, have been just as reckless and enabling by electing the wrong folks, and then allowing them to stay in office despite their bad behavior. Let's talk about some solutions next time. To anyone willing to hear....
