Will Cory Booker and New Jersey clergy "marry again"?

Less than a year before his death, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King expressed his frustration with Black Leadership's propensity to become self-serving ideologues who suffer from a loss of identity leading to betrayal of the mission. Dr. King observed the following:

"...Negro leaders suffer from this interplay of solidarity and divisiveness, being either exalted excessively or grossly abused. Some of these leaders suffer from an aloofness and absence of faith in their people. The white establishment is skilled in flattering and cultivating emerging leaders. It presses its own image on them and finally, from imitation of manners, dress and style of living, a deeper strain of corruption develops. This kind of Negro leader acquires the white man's contempt for the ordinary Negro. He is often more at home with the middle-class white than he is among his own people. His language changes, his location changes, his income changes, and ultimately he changes from the representative of the Negro to the white man into the white man's representative of the Negro. The tragedy is that too often he does not recognize what has happened to him..."

When looking at the tenure of Cory Booker, as Mayor; when hearing the outcry of Newark citizens who felt disenfranchised and betrayed during his term, it is quite evident Dr. King's assessment of much of the Black leadership of his day, could be readily applied to the Senator from New Jersey. Yet, it goes far deeper than the perceived political implications, particularly when you observe the obvious sacrilegious and demeaning disregard for the church and its clergy so blatantly portrayed. Last October 2013, the recently elected, Cory Booker, who is a professing Christian and attends Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark, performed the state's first homosexual marriage. When Booker concluded the ceremony, he was questioned by reporters on how does his Christian faith reconcile itself with the Judeo-Christian definition of marriage, and his own claim of being Christian? Without hesitation, Cory Booker responded: "God's truth might lie also in other faiths."

It would appear by his comment, not only is Cory Booker a US Senator, but also a self-appointed Apostle with jaded views on what is "God's Truth" that was obviously hidden from the writers of the testaments of the Jews and Christians, and Koran of the Muslims. There is quite conclusive evidence that these scriptures representing the faiths of 55% of the world's population would not concur with Senator Booker's epiphany. Let it also be pointed out that throughout his 2013 campaign for the Senate, he was known for his outspoken advocacy of Homosexuality and Abortion, and had refused for years to perform any marriages in the state until New Jersey allowed homosexuals to be legally married.

The Bell for the Political Season has sounded, and once again, Cory Booker is on the campaign trail seeking a coalition of organizations and institutions to support his reelection. Certainly – among the coalition – one group he will be courting, and counting on, is the church. This will prove to be quite interesting being that he practically told any Bible believing church to "salute his rear" by striving to, and then performing, the first legal Homosexual marriage in New Jersey. Will these clergy bow to Baal and sign off again in the hopes of some government goodies coming their way? The clergy, who chose to sign off, now know what the clearly pro-homosexual and pro-abortion Cory Booker will do when given the reins; will these same clergy again endorse Cory Booker who says the Bible they carry, and preach from, is lying when it comes to its most fundamental unit and first institution God created on earth... marriage? Will they have the courage to tell Mr. Booker he has gone too far and then repent for having ever endorsed his candidacy? Time will tell.

There is another Bell ringing which is seeking your attention: it is for Jeff Bell, a Conservative Republican. I personally don't know Jeff Bell, but from what I have read concerning him, I have chosen to extrapolate this quote which I believe summarizes his political perspective:

"...social conservatives are the only true adherents to the Founding Fathers' vision, because most liberals do not believe that human rights are derived from God rather than awarded by government..."

Jeff Bell would support a ban on Abortions, even in cases of rape or incest, and also would support a Constitutional Amendment declaring only men and women can be married to each other. With any cursory search of the candidates, one could conclude that Jeff Bell ideologically is the antithesis of Cory Booker. What makes it more interesting is that Jeff Bell will be in agreement with most, if not all, of the clergy on the issue of Marriage and Abortion. If any group should support Jeff Bell, it would be the persons who signed off erroneously on Cory Booker. These are the men and women God has called to stand for righteousness and truth. All of New Jersey and America will take note of the response of these clergy when the seductive call of allegiance comes from the Booker camp with all the campaign promises of recognition with pomp and splendor. Or will these clergy remember the divine wisdom of Solomon when he said,

"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people..."
